Training day - part 1

2421 Words
My alarm goes off. Why is it so loud? I open my eyes with a blinding headache. Where am I? I shoot up just to realise I'm in Oliver's room. Was the party that hectic that I ended up here? I flop back down onto the bed and reach over to turn my alarm off. Since Ollies my mate he is super protective over me so when I get really drunk at parties he swoops in to save the day and brings me back here to make sure I'm safe. Here, his parents house. Alpha Cohen Finley and Luna Dawn Finley's house. They are like a second set of parents to me. Now I'll have to do the walk of shame out of the house even though nothing happened. Dawn will pester me with questions and since it's Sunday, Matthew and Connor Finley will be here so I'll have that to look forward to. Connor is the oldest and soon to be Alpha. He is also head over heels in love with me and is determined to make me his wife. Matthew is like the goofball brother that I love. He is so smart and talented but doesn't show it much. Instead he goofs around and just makes everyone love him. He's the top warrior and is studying to be a teacher. Go Matt! And then there's Oliver. The baby of the Finley clan. He's amazing and sweet. He's going to take over the family law firm when he grows up. Where is Ollie actually? I look around the room to see him passed out on the floor. Oh Ollie. He must've gotten smashed last night because normally he takes opportunities like this to snuggle next to me in bed. Can't help but chuckle at him all burritoed into his blanket on the floor. I head to the bathroom to get ready for pack training. I'm here really often so I have my own toothbrush and hair brush. Most people find it weird that our parents are okay with this. It is weird. My dad and Ollies parents really want us to tie the knot. My dad and Alpha Cohen constantly leave not so subtle hints about letting Oliver mark me because they feel bad for him. It must be hard for him, I'm sure but not as hard as him feeling my anxiety everyday for the rest of our lives. That's the bad thing about officially becoming mates, we can feel each other's emotions. You can block them but it's exhausting. I love Oliver too much to put him through my roller coaster of anxiety. I sigh and spit my toothpaste out. I look closely at myself in the mirror while I braid my hair into its standard French braid. I'm beautiful and sexy. I have no problem admitting that. I'm below average werewolf height but above average human height. I've got the most gorgeous curly milk chocolate brown hair that has golden sun streaks from spending most of my time outside. I have green eyes that are ringed with the classic Anderson gold and have gold flecks in them. I also have the signature Anderson astigmatism so I need glasses to read. I'm fit but not thin. I have smallish breasts and curvy hips but on the whole I'm quite petite. Okay enough vanity for one day. I head into Ollies closet where I have about half of my wardrobe and pull on my workout clothes for pack training. I also grab my Oakley sunglasses because I'm sure my hungover state will not be happy with the sun. Let's get this over with. I sneak down the stairs in the hopes that no one will notice me. I almost make it out but get caught creeping towards the door. "Come here young lady." I hear the sweetest, momiest voice call from the kitchen. I sigh and walk in, sitting in an empty stool by the counter. "Busted." Connor says from his spot causing him, Matt and Gina (my best friend and Matts mate) to giggle like school girls. Dawn throws her dish towel at Connor in a playful way. "Leave her alone Connor. Clearly nothing happened." She rolls her eyes and sighs in defeat. "When are you going to put that poor boy out of his misery?" She stares straight into my soul. "When she rejects him and marries me." Connor says while hastily making his way out the door. "Connor Cohen Lesley Finley you had better run." The remaining three of us laugh at Connor's full name. Matt and Gina also stand to leave. Matt tugs my braid on his way out. "Don't be late KitKat." He says before swooping Gina off her feet. Their laughter trails off until the door closes. Then there was 1. Luna Dawn his looking at me expectantly. I sigh and for the first time tell her the truth. "When I get my anxiety under control." She looks surprised at my answer. Normally I just joke about it and brush the question aside. Her surprise then fades to understanding and love. "You have always been so selfless." She walks around the table and hugs me tightly. When she pulls away she kisses me on the forehead and shoos me out the door telling me she'll see me later for breakfast. The fresh morning air hits me. We love close to the beach so the salty air wraps itself around me. I breath deeply for a moment before picking up a run with a grin plastered on my face. When I reach the training ground Alpha Cohen and my dad stands in the middle of the grass field. My dads arms are crossed over his chest, a disapproving look on his face and shaking head. "You're late." He shouts as a run to the forest track. "Luna Dawn was chatting to me." A grin creeped into his face. That excuse always worked. "Run run sugar plum." Alpha Cohen shouts as I disappear down the warm up trail. I was one of the fastest scouts in the pack so I would catch up to and then out run the group. I looked up at the starry sky through the forrests trees. I loved Sunday's. Sunday's are pack training days. 4am to 8:30am is the warrior training: warmup run and stretches; 1 hour wolf form training; human form training (on my 16th birthday my gift was tacking training. Best gift ever!); and cool down. 8:30 to 10 is breakfast or used for warriors who want extra training time. 10 to 12 is junior training for the younger aspiring warriors above 12 but below 16. 12 to 2 is lunch, we have family lunch (The Andersons, Watsons and Finleys) at the Finley's. 2 to 3 is private sessions, my dad trains Oliver in this time because he needs more help controlling his anger and wolf and needs some special attention, I train with Kimmy Finley (Oliver's cousin) because she's only 13 and started training at a late age. 3 to 5 is kiddies fun training (my favourite), we don't actually fight but it's more fun exercise to keep them fit and get some energy out of the pups. 5 to 6 is Alpha, Luna, Beta and Gamma training (my worst because Connor insists on being my partner, Every. Single. Week.). And last from 6 to 8 is personal training time, not many people are on the grounds at this time but I use it to train with aids like guns, knives and even swords, it's fun. I catch up to the group and greet most of the people. Our warriors range from 16 to 35. Anyone above 35 is considered senior counselors. They watch over training and help the Alpha with big decisions. Most don't join the counsel but rather focus on their money jobs and family. Before long I'm at the front of the group and running off towards the grounds. By the time I get back the music is already set up. Kimmy runs the music until our training. She turns the music up as I reach the tree line. 'It's going down I'm yelling Timber You better move You better dance Let's make a night you won't remember I'll be the one You won't forget' I make a point of running past her little music station and stick my tongue out at her while making a funny face. She pulls a funny face back and both of us laugh. Everyone else arrives and splits into 2 groups. The one group comes to me for human form training and the others to Gavin (the Gammas son who's my age) for wolf form training. I run towards and straight into Gavin Watson like every training session. He grabs me and pulls me into a hug. We're really close friends and have most of our classes together at school. We fall into the 'Golden Group' at school. This consists of me, Gavin, Gina, Jackson (my boyfriend who's actually Kimmy's mate but she's so young so he hasn't said anything to her yet but it helps that she has a huge crush on him), Lizzy (the top warriors daughter and Kade (the head pack doctors son). Training starts smoothly with me and Gina dancing to the music more than sparing. 'My style is di bom digi bom di deng di digigi Carubauano peer with di bom digi bom di deng di deng digigi' Before we know it the first hour is up and the groups are swapping. All the people who don't have wolves yet, like me, are filtering off the field or going to sit on the out skirts. Jackson is in the next group and runs up behind me to wrap me in a hug. I squeal and giggle as he spins around. When he puts me down I turn and give him a quick kiss. We then all start with sparing and when we're done we go for a cool down run. Lizzy grabs me after the run for extra practice. Lizzy was Ana aging warrior. She was also so pretty with her Icy Blonde hair (it's naturally that colour but no one would ever say that) and ocean blue eyes that seemed to swirl and crash if you looked at them too long with her caramel skin that always seemed to glow. She is easily the prettiest woman I have ever seen. We train for the next hour in hand to hand combat before Matt comes to collect me for breakfast. Breakfast is delicious with pancakes and berries. My anxiety can make me feel overly guilty about a lot of things so I'm a vegan. A vegan wolf. Have you every heard of something so ridiculous but my whole family supports me so whatever. After breakfast I head back to the training ground with the juniors. I enjoy helping Matt with their training. Matt is so good with them, he's going to make the best teacher. Kimmy is really pulling out the 2000 music today. 'You've got designer shades To hide your face and You wear them around like You're cooler than me' How accurate for this group. They are such snobs. That is until Matt gets them all giggling and playing around. The they're pretty cool. I'm part of the lucky few that they like. The session flies by then its lunch. Yay! Matt and I head to the house in a laughing fit about how we were when we were that age. When we reach The Finley house a wall of tension slams into us. We look at each other and proceed with caution, trying to contain our laughter. Matt and I are never a good combo for serious situations. "You're late." Luna Dawn has a fake smile plastered on her face. As she drags us to the guest dining room. I send Matt a 'oh shiiiiiiiittttttt' look. He has to cough to cover his laugh. Luna Dawn hits both of us on the back of the head but instead of us behaving we both burst out laughing. She just rolls her eyes and relaxes a bit as she chuckles at us. We enter the dining room to see everyone seated at the table. At the head is Alpha Cohen. On his right is my dad as Beta Lucas. On Alpha Cohens left is Luna Dawns seat. On my dads left is my brother, Chris. On his left is my seat. To my left is Gamma James seat. On his left is his mate, Juniper. On her left is Gavin. On the other side of the table on Luna Dawns right is Connor. On his right is Matt. On his right is Gina. On her right is Oliver. All the normal attendees but today there is a visiting pack, clearly unannounced. It was Alpha Dixon Bane, his mate Luna Grace, their son Damien and lots of warriors. I can't stand the tension and walk past Luna Dawn to my seat, Matt following suit. "Alpha Dixon. Luna Grace. It's so wonderful to see you." I smile at them as I sit. Luna Grace seems to relax. They are from our neighboring pack that we've had a bit of tension with recently. Luna Grace really likes me ever since I sent the summer with them learning how to make clothes with her in an attempt to create peace between the packs, which worked because a treaty was signed. I smiled widely and waved vigorously at Damien who just rolled his eyes and laughed at me. This had become a running gag when I had stayed with them. Damien is only a year older than I am so we developed a strong friendship. He mimicked me and we started giggling. The whole room relaxed. The lunch then went on smoothly with everyone being civilized and even enjoying themselves. The height of lunch came when Matt 'accidentally' flicked mashed potatoes at me. This started a food fight that everyone participated in. It also ended with everyone is a giggling state and in different seating. Oliver had somehow ended up sitting next to me and I was at the head of the table. No one seemed to care at all like it was natural and even normal. We weren't a big tradition pack when it came to gender roles. The only person who seemed to notice was Alpha Dixon. He made eye contact with me, smiled and then nodded. I wasn't sure how to react to this so I just sent a small smile back.
