Everly's POV
Stepping out the backdoor with Ronnie, I couldn't help the smile that grew on my face at all the people and the excited feeling I was getting from everybody as they laughed with one another. I don't know why I was suddenly so happy, it was the strangest thing in the world to me.
As we walked down the stone steps a few people turned to us and bowed their heads and gave us smiles. I didn't like all of the attention I was getting from it, especially the pity I would feel from a few.
None of this was my fault, I never wanted anybody's pity. My mood was suddenly soured by that and my smile faded.
I removed myself from Ronnie, he turned to me confused. "I'm sorry, I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed..." I said, and went to turn on the step to go back up and inside, but somebody grabbed my hand.
A jolt of sparks flew up my arm from the contact. I shivered and goosebumps formed on my skin causing me to tighten my hand over the one on mine.
I turned back around to see Gabriel on the grass by the steps, he was wearing a black sweatshirt with a pair of dark denim jeans and boy did those jeans fit every curve of him nicely.
"Mi amor, come and sit with me?" Gabriel asked me. His deep Spanish accent made the question dance of his tounge, I wonder what else he could do with it?
No! Stop it, Everly!
I shook my head and smiled softly at him. He returned it, causing me to blush for some reason. "I'd love to, but I have got a terrible headache." I lied. I was just a bit suffocated by all the mixed feelings I was getting from everyone here.
He gave me a blank look, then looked at all the guests then back at me. "You never did like being the center of attention!" He smiled and again tugged on my hand. "Come on, nobody here will harm you!"
"There's three people here that have tried." I mumbled, but I don't know why I said it or where it came from.
I looked up at him my eyes widening a bit, then I looked away from him. "I'm sorry!" I told him quietly while still avoiding his gaze. I still felt so stupid for being happy a moment ago. What's there to be happy about? Me being royalty? Because at this point I'm better off as a hono.
"It's alright. And yes you are right. There are several people here that have tried and have failed to harm you. That just proves how strong you really are." I looked back at him, he was wearing his signature half lazy smile, half smirk.
I bet that look alone was a panty dropper.
The thought made me blush. Again. I had to avert my gaze feom him yet again because my thoughts have been everywhere since stepping out those doors.
"I see you can still make her blush, Gabriel!" The guy Aaron said with a chuckle which made my cheeks feel even hotter.
"Aaron, what brings you here?" Aaron walked around me and Ronnie and decended the few steps that were left. He and Gabriel gave each other a manly hug before speaking.
"Gabriella, called you a few weeks ago right?" Gabriel peered at me for a second, he nodded his head and took a step closer to Aaron.
I turned to Ronnie because i now couldn't hear what they were saying. "You all want me to trust you, yet you guys are keeping things from me!" I told him softly.
I brushed my fingers over Liam's cheek and he smiled while reaching out for my hand.
"I know. And we will tell you, when we think you are ready." I grabbed Liam's hand and he held it tightly, I then looked up at Ronnie.
"Does it have anything to do with why, Diana, was taken?" I asked him. He looked at me then looked away not saying a word. But his silence confirmed what I just asked him.
Whatever they were keeping from me, was why she was taken from me.
I walked down the rest of the steps and past everybody who was looking at me with their sad eyes. I went to the back where I was alone, just a few guards stood around the area.
"I could hear you both again last night, and if I could, so could she!" I heard someone say angrily, and loudly. The voice sounded familiar.
"What are you jealous that he and I are getting some and you aren't?" He also sounded familiar, and the goosebumps that rose on my skin at their voices made me question if I should stop them or let it continue.
"Milo, that's unfair!" I almost melted into a puddle when I realized what they were talking about and who they were talking about.
"Seems fair to me." I peered around the corner where both Milo and Michael were arguing. "Come i to the bedroom tonight and I will show you what you've been missing out on."
"Not ever," Michael told him glaring daggers at him.
"It's rather fun actually." Milo took no offense to Michael's comment. "Let Gabriel f**k you while I f**k him," He stepped closer to him. "and soon enough we can get our girl in the bed with us. And you can f**k her too, Michael. Just picture it. Because I can!"
The look on Michael's face had me blushing for him. He pushed Milo away from him before he looked up and in my direction, I removed myself from his sight and retreated quickly.
I was still flustered over what Milo told Michael. Would i really be to hold to sleep with one of them as the other is with them at the same time? Together?
Just thinking about it made my skin heat up and my thighs feel slightly moist.
Looking up,I found myself near a lake.
This lake is the one I've been looking at through my bedroom window. It was one of the darkest lakes I have ever seen, atleast that I know of.
"Be careful, Princess!" I spun around and saw a guard walking over to me. "It's deeper than it looks, even by the shoreline."
I looked back at him, then to the water. "I'm sure I'll be alright!" I told him and continued my walk. He still wasn't sure about leaving me alone so he stayed a few feet behind me and let me walk along the lake.
I walked for a while, I had even lost track not only of how long I was out here but how far I had strayed from the palace grounds.
I glanced behind me, the guard was still with me thank God. Or I might have lost my way trying to get back.
"Are you ready to go back?" He gave me a knowing smile. I nodded my head and we began walking back towards the palace. It was getting dark out now and the lack of sunlight was making it hard to see.
But thankfully the castle was lit up like a Christmas tree in the distance.
I felt something warm land on my shoulders. I looked up and saw that the guard had taken his jacket off and draped it over me. I tugged it closer no realizing how chilly it had gotten.
I unknowingly sniffed the jacket, his cologne was manly, but it was nowhere near as mouth watering as Gabriel's was earlier. But for the time being I will soak up the scent and warmth of it until I can get back into the walls of the castle.
After about fifteen minutes I heard a twig snap off to our far left. It was pretty dark over there the trees made it darker and the shadows made everything seem eerie.
I went to step closer but I hear a growl come from the woods so I stopped and backed up. I felt like my lungs left my body when I lost my footing.
I heard the man next to me stifle a chuckle and it made me giggle because I stripped over a huge log. It was out in the open for everyone to see and I fell over it. He reached down and offered me his hand, I placed mine in it and he pulled me up.
"Thank you!" I smiled at him.
"My pleasure." He smiled back, he was quite young, he seemed to be around Michael or Gabriel's age, but I wasn't sure how old they were exactly, mid to late twenties maybe?
"What can I callyou?" I asked as we started walking again, I dusted off my pants and hands then his jacket.
"Josiah!" He looked over at me with a crooked grin and I turned my gaze away from him and looked ahead.
"Such a strong and Biblical name, Josiah!" I said and he nodded his head but didn't say anything. "So, Josiah! Do you habe a girlfriend waiting for you when you get off work?" I asked him trying to make small talk as we made our way back.
"No ma'am. I am a single dad to a beautiful one year old daughter. My wife left me for another." My heart hurt for him. I couldn't imagine the betrayal he must have felt when she felt him.
He pulled out his phone and tapped on a few things then showed me a picture. "This is Jenny, my reason for living." I carefully took the phone from him.
She had curly blond hair and big brown eyes with dimples in her cheeks when she smiled. "She's absolutely adorable," I offered him back his phone and he took it.
Now I suddenly wish i had a phone, I wish i could have taken Diana's picture so I could atleast see her face everyday until we get her back.
"Thank you, ma'am." He smiled down at me.
"Please, call me Everly?" I told him and he chuckled.
**********
A couple hours later a knock sounded on the bedroom door, it was opened so I just turned my gaze from the beautiful night sky I was gazing at to see who it was.
It was Milo with a necklace in his hand. "I found this, while returning to the party with, Michael earlier." My hand instantly went to my neckline where it usually sat, only it wasn't there, and my face heated.
"I wasn't trying to snoop or eavesdrop." I told him. "I just heard yelling." He nodded his head with a small smirk and walked over to me and sat on the bed across from me. I was seated in the chair by the window.
"The clasp broke, I can fix it if you like?" He held it out to me and I took it from him.
I looked down at the small golden star. It was such a simple necklace but I felt like it meant something to me, because I had it on when I woke up here.
"I don't even know the symbolance behind this necklace, or why I wear it everyday." I told him with a small smile. And handed it back to him. "I would really appreciate it if you did fix it!"
He nodded his head taking it back from me. "Also, Gabriel has informed me that we are going home soon."
My brows scrunched up in confusion. I already thought I was, that we were. "I'm confused. I thought that this was home."
"Oh no, we came here when you went missing.your parents have an army and better trakers." He chuckled. Well how the hell am I supposed to knkw that?
"But I don't want to leave." He stopped laughing instantly.
"You have to come back with us, Everly!" I shook my head at him.
"No I don't. My child is still missing. And until i get her back I won't leave this building." I told him with finality. I may not know anyone here, but so far this is the only place I did know. And they couldn't make me leave if I did not want to, I don't care what kind of relationship we had.
He tensed up for a moment, I looked him over and i womdered why he seemed so stressed all of the sudden. "I will let Michael and Gabriel know." He got up from the bed and walked to the door stiffly.
He is probably upset I don't want to partake in his s****l fantasies.
He seemed to relax once he entered the hallway but I was still stuck on him saying I 'had' to leave. I was my own person and they weren't the boss of me.
I got up and went to the door and closed it gently because Jorge wanted to sleep in the room with me. He was on the bed asleep, I planned on sleeping on the couch in the corner.
I went and sat back down in the chair, I looked up at the night sky, it always seemed like a magic show went on every night as the colors danced together and formed different and new ones every few minutes.
I looked down at the lake only to see the guard, Josiah from earlier walking along it. He wasn't in his normal armor and he didn't have a sword on his hip. He had a hoodie and bed pants on with a pair of sneakers on. He was holding the little girl he showed me the picture of, she was crying and he was boucing her as he walked back forth along the edge of the lake, but he still stayed far enough away so they wouldn't fall in.
I felt bad knowing he was doing all of this on his own and still had to work the way he did, while i had more than enough family helping me before my daughter was even born. It was really unfair and it seemed really selfish of me to not accept the help when it was offered back then.
