Chapter 7Jacob yawned as he surveyed his handiwork. The bedrooms hadn’t been as big an issue as he’d first thought. His sister had suggested making a feature of one wall in each an autumnal colour, with a piece of artwork, and a throw for the bed in a colour that harmonised with it. The simple strategy had transformed the guest bedrooms, and a variation downstairs made Noah’s lounge and dining room feel warm and homey rather than cold and sterile. Jacob could hardly believe the seemingly effortless way Noah had become so important to him. Now he frequently stayed overnight. When he couldn’t stay, he made sure to cook something for Noah.
