Chapter 6Jacob rang the doorbell. Although he had a key, when invited around by Noah he preferred to wait to be let in. He waited a moment or two, and then let himself in. He sighed deeply, shoulders slumping. The dark living room told him that Noah wasn’t home. He flicked on the light, and headed through to the kitchen. If Noah wasn’t home, then there wouldn’t be any food either. Tonight Noah had promised to cook, saying he’d be home early. Over the past few weeks, their relationship had deepened enough for Jacob to stay over on a regular basis. He often brought ingredients for cakes or meals he was preparing for other parties. He had stuff with him in the car, but had wanted to have a hug and kiss from Noah before unloading. Not tonight. He opened the fridge and checked its contents. H
