Chapter 8For the next couple of days, Jacob fielded any requests from Noah to ensure he was never available to go around. Instead he made sure he had an excuse, and only went to the house when he was certain Noah wasn’t there. The house itself needed little attention. He baked and froze the bread rolls, and prepared the cranberry sauce. The rest he really wanted to cook fresh on the day. He knew he’d made the right decision when Noah texted to say he was going to be away for a couple of days. On a job. Yeah. Right. All I have to do is the meal. His family will be arriving at two in the afternoon. He’ll be here in the morning, at nine-ish if he gets an early flight. Hopefully not too early.
