1592 Words
John slowly opened his eyes early in morning to see that Greg wasn't there beside him. He sat up from the bed and looked around the empty room, he went to bathroom and hesitated for a moment before knocking on the door gently but there was no response. He opened the door and walked in, but there was no sign of Greg in there so he just brushed his teeth, took a quick bath and went downstairs. "Morning John and why are you stretching your neck around? Are you looking for something?" Maria asked as she noticed John searching everywhere with his eyes. She was stirring her tea and looked all dressed up for work. She was putting on a red and black suit with her dark hair pulled back in a tight ponytail. "Uhm...where is Greg?" John asked, looking away like he didn't care. "He's gone. He didn't want to bother you by waking you up" Maria said. She placed her cup on the table and swiftly hauled John to the sofa. "What is it sister? and where are you dragging me too?" Confused John asked. "To sit down with me because this your loving mother-like sister knows you very well like the palms of my hands" Maria said with a visible smirked on her lips. "So?" John hissed in irritation, before he moved away from her. "So I know that something is definitely troubling you" Maria said as she scooted closer to John and looked at him closely. John sighed as he didn't bother to move away from his sister anymore. "I know it. Something is definitely wrong so spit it out" Maria urged with her curiosity overflowing. "Sister, I-I think that I'm sick" John decided to own up to his sister. He knew that he couldn't continue to hid it from her, sooner or later, he would have to spill it out under her bugging persuasion. Maria raised her hand to touch John's forehead as she checked his temperature, it was ok to her so why was he saying that he's sick? Maria couldn't understand. "I don't think so, your temperature is normal" She said to John who was gaping at her behavior. "Not physically sister, but emotionally" John helplessly said. "How?" Maria felt more confused. "I-I.... uhm..... I'm....." John looked up as he felt frustrated, he didn't know how to explain this to his sister as his mouth became heavy as the words got stuck in his throat. 'How will she react if she finds out that I felt something crazy for a guy?' John felt cold sweat on his forehead as he contemplated what her reaction would be. "You...you....you what? Just say it anyhow you want, I will understand" Maria urged as she herself felt even more frustrated. "I think that I have developed a funny feeling for someone that I shouldn't" He decided to say it anyway. "And why shouldn't you? Or is she married?" Maria felt lost, so his heartless brother could actually fall in love with someone? "No it's..... it's a guy" John mumbled incoherently as he monitored his sister's expression. He knew that she heard him clearly. 'Maybe she will start hating me now' He thought as his heart pounded heavily against his chest. 'She will definitely think that I'm crazy too. What if she doesn't want to be my sister anymore?' John's heart was filled with all sought of negative thoughts as he waited for Maria to speak. However, the reaction from Maria was unexpected and it frightened him the more, but in a different direction. "What is wrong with that?" Maria asked excitedly. To her, John falling in love with someone was already a miracle. "Don't you get it? I said that it's a guy" John repeated angrily. "Of course I heard you quite alright. I'm not deaf" Maria rolled her eyes at her brother. "Shouldn't you be scolding me or something? Why do you look so happy?" John's face darkened with anger. Those reaction from Maria wasn't what he was expecting. (.......) Maria didn't know if she should laugh or cry at her brother's stupidity. "And why should I scold you?" She decided to ask with her brows raised up. While John stared at her in silence. "You falling in love with someone is a thing of joy to me irrespective of the gender so yes I'm happy. In fact, I'm so happy right now that I feel like crying, do you know how many times I have tried to get you to be with someone and stop being lonely but you refused?" Maria asked as she remembered all the times she had tried to hook John up with someone but she'd failed with every attempt. "No, you're wrong here. I am not in love with anyone" John said as he stood up with his hands in his trouser pocket. "Ok.... you are not in love with anyone, I believe you but where are you going?" Maria backed off, she didn't want to push him hard. John headed for the door and before opening the door, he turned back to look at his sister. "Maybe you're right about one thing" He paused before continuing, I really need to look for a girlfriend so I can stop feeling this way. It's disgusting" "Won't you at least tell me who the lucky guy is?" Maria teased. "Nobody!" John countered with a shout as he slammed the door behind him. Maria was taken aback by John's action. "Hey don't break my door she shouted back at John. "Why is he denying the fact he has fallen in love with someone?" She wondered. She adjusted her dress, before she grabbed her handbag and left for work. Her husband and the kids were still sleeping upstairs. *********** On his way home, Greg couldn't stop thinking about the officer he'd a little moment with as the scene of the kiss kept flashing across his mind. It was still fresh in his memory and he doesn't think that he will let go anytime soon. He slowly raised his hand and touched his lips. The kiss had felt so good and he wanted to kiss that person again but he'd better stop himself from feeling anything deep for that person. It's just a kiss and a little moment of pure lust and nothing more. After all, that person will never feel the same way I do for him but why is it so hard to stop myself? Greg felt like his mind was about to go crazy, his heart shattering in disappointment as it wanted nothing else but that person. He couldn't believe that his first love would be for that person. How on was he going to handle this? John looked like he would never accept to date a man. And he on the order hand, didn't want to suffer any rejection from John, that's why he couldn't tell him what he feels. "Everything ended before it had the chance to start" Greg mumbled to himself as tears welled up in his eyes. What if he stumbles into John one day? No, he couldn't stay here and suffer from both heartache and his father's abusive words, so he made a decision at that moment. As he got down from the taxi, he stood in front of the giant black gate and sighed while he stared at the massive mansion in front of him. He knows that the moment he steps inside, nagging and lectures will never stop. "I'm back" He greeted as he opened the door and walked through the hallway to the living room. "Welcome son" His mother, Tilda replied. She was very surprised because her son came home today on his own accord without being forced or threatened by his father. Greg walked up the stairs without stopping as he tried to get away from his parents as soon as possible. He wasn't ready for any of their nagging and scolding today, especially from his father. But unfortunately, someone definitely couldn't let him escape peacefully. "We made a deal son, have you decided?" His father, Mr. Jason asked as he continued to read the newspaper in his hands without looking up at all. Greg abruptly paused on his track and he almost fell off the staircase. He turned to look at his father and frowned, as he'd expected the latter wasn't looking at him at all and the same goes for his mother too. It was as they didn't want to look at his disgraceful face and it hurts so much. "I have decided, I want to leave the country" Greg replied as he resumed his walk up the stairs. Tilda felt bad about his son leaving the country forcefully. So she turned to look at her husband. "Darling, is there no other solution?" She asked. "I mean, we could look for other alternatives, please?" "What other solutions are you thinking of?" Mr. Jason barked angrily as he lifted his face from the newspaper to look at his wife, causing the woman to shrink back in her seat. "It's decided already and there's no going back. It's either he gets engaged to the daughter of Dean or travel out of the country to continue his studies there, where he won't have chance to associate with those hoodlums he calls friends. And that's only the finale solution here" Mr. Jason stated dismissively. "Darling, please go easy on him. He is our son" Tilda huffed as she walked up the stairs to go and see her son.
