Greg was lost in his thoughts in his room and only knocked out of it, when he heard the continuous knock on his door. So he got up from the bed and adjusted himself, not forgetting to clean the tears at the side of his eyes before walking towards the door.
He opened the door and found his mother standing there with her right hand set to knock on the door again.
She has been knocking for some minutes without any response from her son which got her worried and so she continued pounding on the door without let up.
"Mom?" Greg called out in surprise as he moved to the side so his mother could enter. He didn't expect the mother to be there.
"Why did it take you so long to open the door?" Tilda asked as she stepped into the room, but the surprised expression on Greg's face had her chuckling. "Why do you look so surprised to see me?"
Greg shook his head in silence as he went straight to the sofa in his room and sat down. He looked calm and collected but the his red and swollen eyes gave his false facade away.
"Oh my God, are you crying?" His mother gasped in shock.
Greg looked down but didn't say anything.
"I'm so sorry, my baby" Tilda said as she pulled her son into her embrace while patting Greg on his back, comfortingly.
Greg's shoulder vibrated as he sniffled and hugged his mother back. This is just what he needed, a shoulder to cry on while he lets all of it out.
After making sure that her son was now calm, Tilda pulled Greg away from her arms to look at his puffy face.
She held his two hands in hers before saying, "I know you are going through a lot because of your father, my baby and I'm very sorry for not being able to help you. Why don't you just listen to him and get engaged to his friend's daughter?" She suggested.
Greg felt new rounds of tears flowing from his eyes, unrestrained. He looked up at his mother with his teary eyes. "Mom, you know that I don't like girls. How can I make them happy when I don't even feel like being with them?" His voice was hoarse as he talked to his mother, but he didn't mind as he went on with what he wanted to say.
"I like men, mom and it can never change. I can't be with girls, this is who I am. What can I give to girls, nothing mom, I can't even make love to them" Greg cried out without controlling himself. It was time that he lets his mother hear this fact from him.
Tilda didn't say anything but watched her son pour out his heart to her. This was the first time Greg would actually open up to her about his preference. She'd only found out by mistake and told her husband about it. Although Greg never said anything about it himself, but his refusal to get engaged to her Mr. Dean's daughter confirm this awful fact.
"Mom, did you know?" Greg paused a little before continuing. He just wanted to confide in someone about all that he was feeling at the moment. "I met someone yesterday that made me to feel love for the first time, mom. I regretted allowing him to kiss me because he doesn't love me at all. Mom, I feel like I'm going crazy because of him. And he is the reason why I have decided to leave the country because it's too much for me to handle now. I can't stay here and battle the heartache while dad is pestering me to get engaged to his friend's daughter" Greg lamented to his Mom.
"I'm sorry son, sorry that I can't even help you ease your pain. I never knew that you were hurting this much and I know that I'm the cause of everything, I shouldn't have told your father your preference. From now onwards, son, I'm in for anything that makes you happy and I promise to be on your side" Tilda assured as she wiped the tears from Greg's eyes.
"Thanks, mom" Greg raised his up and finally smiled at his mother for the first time in months. He was very happy to have his mother back on his side.
"It's ok, son" Tilda patted Greg's head and then she remembered something. "Son, does that person know how you feel for him? I mean, you can't just leave the country like that without confirming things with him. Since he was the one that kissed you and not the other way round"
"It's of no use, mom" Greg said sadly while lowering his head down. "He said that he doesn't like men and that I shouldn't take it seriously" He whispered.
"Oh? If he doesn't like guys why then the hell did he kiss you for?" Tilda asked feeling angry inside her.
"I don't know too, mom" Greg frowned as he felt more sadness wash over him.
Noticing the pain in her son's voice, Tilda felt her heart breaking so she hugged Greg to soothe him. "Just follow your heart and do whatever you want. It's good that you've decided to leave, that way, you can forget about everything and start all over again. Just give it a little time, you'd be alright" She comforted and encouraged her son.
"Thanks, mom. I love you so much" Greg said with a smiling eyes as he felt light hearted after discussing about everything with his mother.
"I love you too, son. Now rest and don't cry anymore while I go down and prepare something for you to eat.
"Yes, mom" Greg replied happily. His mother patted his head once more and placed a warm kiss on his forehead, before leaving the room.
He sighed in content as he made his way towards the bed, he climbed onto the comfy mattress to get some deserved rest.
********************
Back in the office, John and his team mates were busy with a case. A presentation was going on as Carl presented evidence and the leads they'd on how to solve the case they've been working on for weeks.
But John was finding difficult to concentrate as he his mind kept wandering to somewhere else.
He hates what he's becoming this days.
A day won't pass without him thinking about the boy with golden hair and blue eyes.
And a night won't be satisfied without dreaming about Greg's pretty face, long golden hair and that thin red lips he enjoyed kissing; although he was lying to himself about this fact, the truth still remains the same, he enjoyed it.
John was assimilated with all this thoughts about one particular cute boy that has refused to let him be, to the extent that he felt disturbed and disgusted with himself.
Ignoring the confused and curious gazes from his team mates, especially the talkative of the group Luke, he stood up from his chair and walked towards the window.
Luke was about to say something, probably one of his useless remarks when Shania nudge his shoulder and shook her head at him. She could see how worried John appeared to be for the first time. Luke quickly shut and his mouth with a pout on his face.
The others also stared at John in silence.
They could also see that he was troubled over something. But they couldn't help but wonder if it was job related because apart from his job that he takes too seriously, nothing else brothers him.
John opened the curtain and looked down at the bustling street, causing him to remember that day he was holding Greg on the ground, the scene was still vivid in his mind like it was yesterday. And for a moment, he wished that the incident could repeat once more.
John shook the stupid thought off his head and quickly closed the curtain.
There was no way he'd give in to his desires and be with a man. No, never!
There must be somebody decent out there, somewhere, to replace this disgusting feeling he was having for a man.
And of course, it must be a very beautiful lady, John thought within himself and as he declared the search for a girlfriend in his heart. He was startled by the curious gazes that was pointed at him when he turned around to face his team mates.
They quickly averted their gazes as he caught them looking.
He also ignored them and went back to his sit.
