(Tonia's POV)

"I've never been so embarrassed in all my life, my own family promising incest in front of my boss!"

We were back at Liam's house, and Caleb was having a mental break down, after Liam told everyone we were to be mated. I was still in shock, what the hell got into Liam for him to say that to everyone?

"I knew sending you here was a bad idea!"

"Caleb, shut up, you were the one begging me to get here, and honestly you were thinking of yourself the whole time!"

"So you two..."

"No!. We haven't done nor will we ever, not that you'll believe us now right?!"

 I asked crossing my arms over my chest, he just looked at me, that was a big fat no.

"Have you found out anything?"

"No, I told you I wasn't going to report to anyone."

"Oh, that's right, because you believe in doing the right thing."

"Go to hell, Caleb!" said Liam

"I might as well, with you two...mated, nasty!"

With that he walked out of the house and drove away. Thank God Katy was a heavy sleeper. I went into the kitchen and got a glass of water, I sipped it, trying to think.

"I'm sorry."

"What for exactly?" I asked slowly turning to face Liam and leaning on the counter.

"Tonight, I didn't mean to say anything...it didn't even turn out like I thought it would."

"Oh, really what did you think was going to happen?"

He looked at me, he was hiding something, but he didn't want to tell me.

"I don't know but it wasn't what happened tonight."

I scoffed and walked past him, and headed to bed. I was just ready to put this whole night behind me.

Monday morning I did my usual stuff, this time I just ran and ran. Until I couldn't anymore. Then all I could do was cry, None of this could be happening, I was in a nightmare, and I was going to wake up in a while...right? I walked back to the house and got ready for the day. I was dreading running into Amelia, but as I walked to my class I didn't and her class was on the way there, when I walked by her class room, she wasn't there, there was an older woman at the desk. I was curious and I went to check.

"Hi, Are you filling in for Ms. Gold."

"Amelia Gold?"

"Yeah."

The women laughed.

"Sweetheart, she's the principle of the school, she doesn't have time to teach a class."

I felt a twist of anger, that's why, she'd been the first one to welcome me at the school, she was in charge of it.

"Thank you, my mistake."

The woman went to sit down, and I looked at my watch. I still had time to go talk to her. So I headed for the office, when I got there the receptionist was gone, I should've taken that as a sign, when I barged into the office and was shocked to find what I found.

"Liam?"

"Toni!"

They were half naked and on the desk, I walked right out.

"Toni!" he called before I closed the door. I rushed away back to my class, everything was falling into place, the constant questions about me and Liam, the mood swings, and how I didn't always see her around. I understood now, she's the principle of the school and a Gold so two kinda bad things, but from what I understand Katy liked her and if I was honest, I was actually relieved to know he did like someone else, and not me.

By lunch time I really didn't want to face Amelia, I just could wash what I saw out of my mind in just a few hours. But she was there waiting for me.

I sat down across form her and looked her right in the face.

"So not only did you lie to me about who you were in town, who you are in the school, but you also were lying about who you are to him, really?"

"First off you were sent here by the humans to spy, so don't think I was just going to make it easy on you, second of all if they find out about us, they might take me away."

"Away, away where?"

"That's what we don't know, they took Eric's mate and we haven't seen her in about six years."

"What?"

"But there was others here and I see them all the time...wait, of course."

"What?"

"Caleb did the same thing to me, he threatened Liam and Katy to make me come here. they're doing the same thing with you guys take your mates or loved ones, and they have you under control."

We looked around as if someone would be listening in.

"I have nothing against, you Tonia, but I love him and I'll be damned if I let you take him from me."

"Again, there's nothing going on between us, we are family, nothing more."

She gave me a look but then accepted I was telling her the truth and nodded. After that we parted ways, and we both went back to work.

When I got back to the house, Liam was already waiting for me.

"Toni, I'm so sorry you had to find out that way."

"Liam, stop, I get why you didn't tell me, I just wish you had I mean who am I going to tell?"

He rubbed the back of his neck, and gave me a shy smile.

"So Saturday, what were you trying to do?"

"That back fired, I thought maybe if she thought she was losing me to an other woman, she'd come clean about our relationship, but she didn't."

"Yeah, then I'll say that definitely back fired."

"Well, not completely."

"What do you?"

"I...got a visit from a certain Gold family member, threatening me to call off my claim, or else."

"What?"

"You and Dominic, really?"

"Shut up, how was I suppose to know, who and what he was."

"That's why I thought I recognized the scent, even after four years, you haven't been with anyone else."

"Yeah..no..I..don't know I felt like I was cheating and it felt awful."

"Yeah, it does, but he didn't mark you, so you don't owe him anything."

"Maybe, but if what Amelia told me is truth then, we'll never find out."

"What did she say?"

"The government takes the mates of the mated to keep them under control, and I can't imagine what poor Eric is going through without his wife."

"Take them where?"

"That's the question, what do they want with them or do with them."

"Especially, when some are human."

"Are all mates human?"

"No, only a few, we can't control it who is chosen for us."

I gave him a teasing grin, he rolled his eyes at me, but didn't say any more. After a while we started dinner, and just spent the day calm and relaxed.

The next day during school, the fire alarm went off, and the kids all looked at me, and we did as what we did last time, we got in line and headed out the assigned exist, all teachers and students were outside, I did row call and Katy was missing. I got a really cold feeling, soon Amelia joined us, and I told her I was missing Katy, she asked one of the other teachers to watch my class and we both ran in.

There was a fire, I could barely smell the smoke, that last place Katy had gone was the bathroom, so I went to check the bathrooms, I saw her shoes.

"Katy, baby, come on..."

When I opened the stall, they were fake legs in her shoes, I started to back up very slowly and suddenly felt strong arms grab me from behind, I elbowed the person in the ribs.

"b***h!"

"Get her!"

Then suddenly someone hit me hard in the head and it went dark.

(Dominic's POV)

Both Eric and I were running toward the school, we could see the smoke and we were worried what this could mean.

When we arrived, we both breathed a sigh of relief, there was Amelia and Jesse and...

"Katy?"

All three turned to look at us, little Katy had a cut along her eye, and she smelled of fear.

"What happened?"

"They took her, the men took Toni!"

The guard at the gate had called Eric to tell him that some suits had driven in, breaking the gate on the way in. My insides were twisting in a very uncomfortable way.

"What did the men say to you?"

"They told me..not to scream or they'd shoot Toni."

Soon Liam showed up.

"Katy? oh, baby you okay?"

"They took her Daddy they took Toni!"

"Who ..."

"Some guys in suits broke in earlier and my guess is they were here for Toni."

"What, why would they?"

"Maybe we should find a better place to talk, what's going on with the school, Amelia?"

"All students are accounted for, and so are all the other teachers."

"Okay meet us back at the house as soon as you can."

"Yeah."

We all head back to the house, but when we walked in something caught all of us by surprise, someone was in the house. We carefully went up stairs whoever it was didn't feel threatening, but you could never know. Once at the office, there was a man standing by the desk.

When he heard us he slowly turned.

"Uncle Victor."said Liam in shock, the man smiled, and Liam ran forward to hug the man, who embraced him tightly, like a father did to a son.

"You've grown boy."

"I can't believe it's you."Liam said with tears sliding down his face.

"It's me boy and I hope you're ready, there's a war in the horizon."

Liam pulled away from his uncle, and the man patted his nephew, then turned to us.

"I have it understood that my daughter is here too."

"She was, sir, we just found..."

"Someone took her." said Liam, the man looked hurt but hid it.

"And I know who too"

I looked at the man, who we thought had been dead, who had died the same time our mother had died, and was now standing in front of us, in good health.

"If you're not dead then, where the hell have you been?" I asked with a small growl, Cruz turned to look at me.

"Hiding and finding information, information to explain why my family was targeted?"

"You should be dead, Mr.Cruz, so explain to us what is really going on."

Cruz, looked from Eric to me, but took a deep breath and went to the couch and sat down. As did we, he looked at Liam giving him a sad smile. Then back at us.

"I'll start by saying I joined the army to do good, and to be the best soldier I could be, but a twelve years ago, all of that changed. A few of us were told of the existence of Werewolves, and how the army wanted their help in battle from what I knew,  the wolves wanted nothing to do with the wars of men, for me that was a choice we should've respected, but then I got a letter calling me in for a mission, to find and destroy a safe house, I never really thought werewolves had families, I ran in with anger at how I had lost my wife, my son and my baby sister. Didn't even stop to think, until I walked into that safe house and found what I had done, children and women dead. I realized too late what I had done, just like someone took my family, I had just done the same to someone else."

"Our mother? what did they do to our mother?" I asked, Cruz looked at me.

"I found her alive, she's a fighter, we were out of that house before the missile hit, she's safe."

A wave of relief washed over me, the weight I had felt of not knowing, was gone.

"So what now?"

"If they took Toni, then a few things are happening: they know I'm alive, and she's been suspected of being mated to a alpha, or close to one."

The guilt hit me hard, at remembering how I opened my big mouth, it had to be the Secretary of Defense. Cruz read my expression, because he set his eyes on me.

"You need to go save her, I would but my face is everywhere now, and as far as I know you're not chipped."

"No,I'm not and yes I'll go after her."

He then turned to look at my brother.

"You'll be left alone, son, and you need to know how to hold your own, until these boys come back, I'm still human as is your mother, we can only do so much to help, but you need to put your big boy pants on and lead your people."

Eric, smiled.

"I have been sir, even if you don't see it and don't let my kicked back demeanor fool you, because you push me too far, you won't like what you see."

Shit I actually got chills from that, but Cruz nodded and he got down to explaining where they might of taken Toni, and a few other things, he also recorded a video for me to show Toni. I got ready and headed out.
