Preparations

(Sadie P.O.V) Three sedentary weeks of doing the minimum because of this broken leg and I was over it. Gemma thought it was a good idea to practice meditation but that lasted a few short sessions before she decided to have us do an advanced course of pilates mat workout instead which was much more my pace. It forced me to concentrate on my breathing and my movements, especially since mobility was limited with my leg now in a soft cast. I also had to focus on my core at the same time so once I was too exhausted to complain about much of anything anymore we would meditate. As much as I enjoyed the 'downtime' I was ready to get this cast off and go for a run and today was suppose to be that day. "You do know that you can't shift for at least two more days right?" Jace asked. I was humming with energy and Sage was ready to let loose so when Jace popped our little bubble Sage peeked out, "Are you going to try to stop us?" she growled, flashing her eyes silver and black. "You're the Alpha, do what you want," Gemma chimed in, "But just remember that as the resident doctor here I'm advising that if you want to avoid another break or fracture it’s best not shift for at least two more days and that's a minimum recommendation. You may have healed faster because of your a wolf and an Alpha but just like humans you still have had some muscle degeneration." Sage pouted because we knew she was right. My leg looked leaner than usual, almost skeletal, instead of muscular, "Fine. Two days just to make sure I don't snap in half and then we are all going for a run," I plopped onto the couch with some tea and rotated my ankles and felt the joints stretch and relax, "So where are we at with finding Nat? Any leads?" Nat was going to be the pack Beta but since the attack almost a month ago no one has seen or heard from him. The last bit of information we had on him was when I was held captive and the only thing I knew at that time was that he was injured but had managed to escape. Gemma and Jace had a handful of people that were trustworthy and they were reporting back when they could but no one has heard anything and I was beginning to lose hope that he was still alive. "No change on the Nat front but according to my contacts they said that with Nat missing they are pinning the rogue attacks on him. Because Nat isn't around to defend himself against the accusations so the council is taking Brandon's claims at face value with minimal investigating being put forth." I could feel Sage on the surface, we knew what was coming next. "Because of this," Jace looked more nervous. I didn't blame him, Sage was quick to anger when it came to all things Brandon and Alice, "Well, it looks like the council has decided to make Brandon's position as acting Alpha permanent by the end of the month and since Nat is MIA there is no one to challenge Brandon's claims. And before you ask, my source said that the council has also confirmed a badly beaten corpse as yours, they said something about dental and DNA matching records on file." "They did WHAT?" my canines and claws fully emerged, breaking the glass mug I was holding. Sage was fighting for control and it was everything I could do to keep her from fully taking over. She wanted blood, we wanted blood. I could hear Gemma and Jace trying to coach my breathing but they sounded garbled, like I was under water. Alice worked at the hospital so of course my dental records and DNA matched the poor person they killed. I felt my self control slipping as the thought of one more person’s death was on my shoulders. 'Sage, we need to calm down. We can't lose control and go after them half c****d, it would mean more death and chaos for the pack and you know it. His time is already counting down whether he knows it or not," she was ignoring me and still trying to push through, "How it reaches zero is up to us. Sage!” I barked at her. 'Fine. But don't forget we have two targets and Alice will bleed out with her mate,' she growled before letting me regain control again. "You okay Sadie?" Gemma asked, "I thought I was going to have to sedate you," she laughed nervously, holding a small needle. I felt a sting on my hand and noticed I was bleeding from the broken mug I just shattered. I put some pressure on the cut then started to leave, "Call the bear, we start at the end of the week," I said storming off before I snapped at anyone else. I needed to be alone but mostly I needed to calm down and now that this damn cast was off I was going to have that hot soak in the tub. (Gemma P.O.V) Being one of the pack doctors I had seen my fair share of wolves lose control but this was next level s**t. Sadie was able to calm her wolf, Sage, down but just barely. "Did you see her eyes?" Jace asked as soon as he heard the bath run in Sadie's room. He was curious to see what my own observations would be but I honestly had none, this was something neither of us had seen or heard of before. "Yeah and you're right it's not something we've ever seen before," I said putting the tranquilizer back into its case. Normally when our wolf is at the surface our eyes will turn black if we're angry or our wolf's eye color which is usually brown, green, blue, hazel, hell even a tint of red is considered normal but silver? Never in my life have I seen a wolf with silver eyes and we didn't know if that meant something significant or not. All the people that we knew that would have answers are now dead. "Not the kind of s**t we signed up for huh?" Jace said, "I'm going to call Clarissa and see if she can manipulate Benate to take Sadie early, God knows if anyone can it's her," he said leaving the room laughing, "Poor bastard." 'This isn't going to be a smooth journey is it?' I asked my wolf, Amethyst. 'It's a quest for revenge dear, they're never smooth sailing,'
