A Lesson in Self-Restraint

(Sadie P.O.V) I stared at the ceiling and kept repeating what Gemma had said, 'They incited a civil war within our walls, Alice and Brandon completed the first part of the prophecy,' It was like a new mantra that I had to play on repeat until I finally accepted it. It was bad enough that I was born a woman that was next in line to take over the pack as Alpha when my father was ready to retire but now there was a stupid prophecy attached to my birth? 'Alice and Brandon completed the first part of the prophecy' I threw a pillow over my head and screamed, what in the actual f**k was I going to do now! "Sage? What's your take on all this? Do you believe this prophecy thing?" Sage laughed, like full on in your face laugh, what the hell. 'We live in a world where we know magic is a reality while the humans we surround ourselves with still believe it is nothing more than a fictional aspect and only wished it were a reality.' "Not really an answer but okay." She sighed annoyed at my inability to follow her train of thought, 'In other words, whether you want to believe it or not and whether it is an undisputed fact or not the possibility of it being a plausible reality is there and we might as well be prepared as if it were a fact.' Okay... With that in mind what do we do next? Healing and recuperation is a given but after that? How do I get strong enough to get my pack back? And how do I get it back without adding to the casualties? What happens- what happens if I can't become strong enough... The following morning I found myself curled up in a chair on the porch outside of my master bedroom with a hot cup of coffee. Despite the emotional trauma and physical abuse I had gone through the last couple of days I felt a strange calm fall over me this morning. I spent most of the night tossing and turning trying to figure out what to do and I think I finally figured it out. It was going to take time, a whole lot more than I would have liked it to but if it was going to be done right and in a way that was going to honor my parents then it was going to be a long wait before I could finally get my revenge. I bit my inner lip at the thought and fumed a little. I hated the thought of that asshole living it up as Alpha when he had no right to the stolen title but nothing was going to be able to get done until at the very least my leg fully healed. "There you are," Jace and Gemma said, joining me outside with their own cups of coffee. "Deep in thought?" Jace asked. "Sorta, I've finally figured out what needs to be done to get our pack back and I'm going to need your guys' help," I said with a smile. "So let me get this straight, you are willing to wait an entire year, as in 365 days, to train, study and whatever else you need to do in order to get Crimson Woods back?" Gemma scoffed. She was acting like I was speaking a foreign language, which, even if I was I'm sure she would still know what I was saying seeing as she's fluent in at least four languages that I was aware of. "Yes, and why is it so hard to believe?" "Our parents talked to your parents, A LOT, and it's not exactly a big secret that you don't have a lot of patience in pretty much everything," she said with a raised brow and her arms folded. She was waiting for me to deny this piece of information. "What Gemma is trying to say is that this is going to be a huge lesson in self-restraint. If we agree to help you, are you going to follow your own plan and not jump the gun?" Jace said with his arms crossed as well. Standing side by side like you could definitely see the twin resemblance. I didn't think I was that impatient and impulsive, Sage huffed. "Okay, fine. I was never patient as a kid or even now as an adult but this is different, it needs to be. I need to be." Gemma and Jace sighed and looked at each other silently, like they were doing some kind of twin telepathic thing, "Fine. Let's get started." The plan was to go to the master’s that Gemma and Jace had been sent to as kids and had spent months training with. It was my belief that this specialized training would help me regain my pack. Despite being extensively trained with the pack it wasn't anywhere near the level of training that the twins had. I needed to get into contact with the chiefs, alphas and pack leaders of the were-bear, were-cat and were-fox clans in-order to learn their special skills and abilities. These skills were anywhere from learning how to do a grizzly bear's full body take down in one smooth motion to being able to read my enemies movements before he even knows what he's going to do like the foxes were rumored to be able to do. According to Gemma and Jace each of these skills took almost a year to completely master but because we didn't have five years and I am Alpha born, we are hoping to complete each mastery in a few months. Training with the were-beasts masters was going to take up my first year and despite wanting to move that timetable up Jace said it would not only be rude but if we even tried they might flat out refuse to help. After we were done training with the were-beasts then came my least favorite objective: magic. I tried to refuse this aspect of training but according to the twins the last Alpha-Luna their ancestors had served under was mated to a warlock, a pretty powerful one at that, which meant I had unlocked potential to someday weld magic. Why this fact was kept from our family history is a mystery to me but our best guess is that if other wolves knew our family could potentially use magic then a fear led rebellion would have ensued decades ago. They had a witch and a warlock that they wanted to reach out to and see if they could help open my third eye into magic. Lastly they insisted on me pairing up with a freakin vampire. If witches and warlock weren't bad enough they wanted me to train with a vamp, "Seriously? What for? They're enemies to werewolves for a reason," I whined. "Werewolves have a pissing match with pretty much every other supernatural species out there, it's just how we are so you can't use that as an excuse. Besides the vampire we want you to meet is a hybrid and she's cool, you'll see. If you can beat her or at the very least come up even with her then you're ready to go up against Brandon, Alice and the rest of their henchmen," Jace said with a mock cackle. Evil villain much? "Whatever. Vampire or not after we're done with the magic stuff we get my Alpha position back." "Cool," they said in unison. "We'll put the calls through and set up the dates. In the meantime focus on inner strength and meditate. If you're stressed out and anxious your mind will be out of whack and you won't be able to focus.”
