Sage's Death March

(Gemma P.O.V) The two day cap I had put on Sadie had finally been lifted and as promised we were all out in the woods going for a run. What Jace and I hadn't anticipated was to what extent Sage had needed to be let out to blow off some steam. Apparently not being able to shift, the announcement we dropped on her about the prophecy and the bad news we kept getting about Brandon and Alice a run was the only way they could jointly let off steam but couldn't. It was no wonder the pilates were more effective than yoga. Sadie had stripped and shifted so fast that poor Jace was left more than a little flabbergasted at seeing his Alpha get naked. Although he hasn't admitted to anything I'm more than a little sure he's been harboring a crush on Sadie since we were kids. We never interacted with Sadie as kids but we saw her often, if she wasn't with her jerk friends then she had her head buried in a book making her less than aware of her surroundings but not me. I noticed pretty fast how Jace would take random detours on our errands that would lead us to Sadie's favorite reading and lunch spots. Once I had pointed out my little observation we suddenly stopped crossing paths with Sadie on a daily basis. Now that we were all living together and Sadie has grown into a very attractive woman that crush was back with a vengeance. Sadie's wolf Sage was beautiful. She had dark garnet colored fur with ebony highlights and sure enough her eyes were silver but against her coat it was obvious that they were more of a pewter. If you couldn't tell by her sheer size alone, the power and authority that Jace and I felt radiating off of Sage screamed Alpha. "She's f*****g huge," Jace had muttered as he had stripped and followed her out in a hurry. I was already a wolf and was waiting for Jace to get over his shock. He wasn't wrong though, Sage was definitely the biggest female wolf I had ever seen. Males were always bigger than us females in both human and wolf form and the Alpha was traditionally always bigger than the rest of the pack males. From afar, I could see Sage being mistakenly taken as an Alpha male, the only difference being that Sage was a leaner, more sensual wolf than any male wolf would be. I could hear Sage howl in the distance ahead of us, signaling us to hurry our asses up. We'd been on this run for almost an hour and our wolves were starting to slow down. Sage had us running at top speed for almost 45 minutes and had just barely slowed down. I looked ahead at the treelike to see if I could spot Sage but only saw Onyx, Jace's wolf. I smirked, it looked like Onyx had also begun to lag behind our Alpha. This no training rut we fell into really screwed us. Onyx and Amethyst looked night and day. Onyx had dark ebony fur that almost looked like it had blue highlights under the moon. The only color Onyx had were his bright baby blue eyes and the tiny tuffs of white on his front paws. As far as size Onyx was a large male but nowhere near Sage's size. Amethyst on the other hand was completely dwarfed by both Onyx and Sage. My wolf was smaller but she had a fighter's spirit and was feisty as all hell. Her coat was a golden blonde with emerald green eyes. Like Onyx, Amethyst paws were also a different color instead of white though the tips of her paws were black. It must have been a twin thing since our wolves looked very yin and yang. "They're close," Amethyst said sniffing the air, "Looks like the Alpha has decided to let us rest," she snorted in annoyance. 'Oh you liked the challenge. It's no different than us working out in human form.' "If that's the case, this is your fault then, making the Alpha do those floor exercises with a broken leg and now she's here taking us on a death march through the woods. We've had elite training, we should not be this tired," she complained. She might be right, I cringed. Sadie hated those exercises so maybe this was a little payback. Oh well, not much we can do about it now. By the time we made it to the top of the mountain side I saw a small lake with multiple little waterfalls pouring into it and a naked Sadie jumping off a little ledge into it. The lake wasn't a crystal blue like you'd see at home but it was clean and you could see patches of moss sediment on the bottom near the shore and little grey fish nervously swimming from one section of the shore to another where there were reeds they could hide beneath. A little ways away near a small cluster of trees I saw Onyx laying on his back in the shade with his tongue sticking out. Amethyst collapsed in the lake about a foot deep to cool off and started to lap up the cold water. 'Sooo good,' we both sighed. "That was an amazing run," Sadie said as she swam up to us, "Sorry Sage pushed you guys so hard, she wasn't too happy to be cooped up two more days than expected and just went a little crazy." Amethyst just ignored Sadie. "Oh Amethyst don't be cranky, we knew you guys could keep up, after all you two made me do all those pilates with one leg out of commission," she said, raising an eyebrow and flashing a smile. Sadie finally got a reaction from Amethyst when she gave her a little growl of annoyance. Sadie just burst out laughing and gave her a rub down. "Since everything is already packed up we can take our time heading back down. We can try to leave in about an hour," she said, shifting back to Sage before we both joined Onyx under a tree and took a long deserved nap.
