(Sadie's P.O.V)
I was berating myself for being so weak and turning tail and running. I felt frail and like I betrayed my parents and everything that they believed I would be by running away with my tail tucked between my legs.
It had turned out I had lost consciousness for less time than I had originally thought and was only unconscious for no more than a few hours or so. Whether I had woken up or not it wouldn't have made of a difference when Gemma and Jace had decided to leave. Once I was stable they would have left the estate. I guess just as long as I was patched up and wouldn't bleed to death their next concern was leaving. We snuck out of Jace's home and since there was so much chaos us leaving unnoticed wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. But emotionally, leaving my pack in the state it was in killed me.
"I guess it worked in our favor that your two best friends are idiots trying to take over our pack instead of them being evil genius's," my wolf laughed. She hated Alice and Brandon long before they had turned on me. She had even tried to warn me that she was picking up negative energy from them but being a new wolf at the time I thought she was just blowing things out of proportion. "I'm named Sage for a reason. I am a wise wolf after all," she smirked.
'b***h,' I snapped. Sage laughed and I let out a long sigh when we crossed the pack boarders and leaving the only home I had ever known. Everything was about to change and I was scared of how much of that change was going to be me. I was hurt by Alice and Brandon's betrayal but their want for power wasn't what made me see red it was how they did it. The unnecessary deaths, they caused and the lives they ruined forever just to ensure they would be next in line as the Alpha of the Crimson Woods pack. My parents, the house staff and the guards were only a few people that I knew of that they had slaughtered.
"You okay Sadie?" Jace asked. He looked worried and a little panicked.
We wanted their blood and when we thought about what they did we let out a louder growl than anticipated, "No," I answered honestly. I looked out of the window trying to keep my mind off of the dull ache that surrounded my body. Then again maybe I needed to feel it as a reminder of what happened tonight. The forested mountains began to fade from view as our distance from the only home we ever knew grew wider and wider. "I want them dead and I want them to feel the pain of every death that they are responsible for today."
"They will, we'll make sure of it. Our parents are on that list of people we need to avenge," Jace said through gritted teeth, "Gemma is taking us to a safe house my parents owned that's just past the city. Its basically on the other side of the valley so we'll be able to keep an eye on Crimson Woods. It'll be most of night so if you want us to answer any questions we have the time."
"And if you don't mind us asking a few in return there are some gaps we need filled in as well," Gemma chimed in from the drivers seat.
"I'm an open book so let us begin," I said, gently sitting up and ready to hear everything they had to say.
The Gemini twins started with their lineage and what they meant when they said their family was in charge of keeping the Alpha and their heirs safe in an event of a war. Gemma and Jace's family belonged to a long line of elite fighters dating back almost five generations. Their responsibility was to the Alpha and his or her family. Their role was that of a covert secret service role and like me they trained from an early age to start to live up to their legacy. Among these specialized skills they were medically trained in order to help save their Alpha in a life or death situation, they've mastered multiple languages and even have special spy training to help blend in with the local natives. They had access to the people and tools to either disappear or create a whole new identity along with several safe houses like the one we were going to scattered around the world with almost unlimited funds and currency from around the world to live comfortably off of for more than a few years. These skills were impressive enough on their own but then add specialized weapons training and hand-to-hand training from shifters that were masters of their trade from all over the world along with an advanced apprenticeships along side with wizards, witches and fairies I could see why the twins always had an unique aura of power around them.
Their parents were really close to mine so when the first wave of attacks happened in the main house they wasted no time in getting to my parents and for that I was grateful for. They made a last stand at the front of the house and held on as long as they could while I tried to evacuate the kids that hung out in the mess hall and arcades. By the time I was able to clear them out of the house everything had gotten overrun and that's when I had bumped into Brandon among the chaos.
I didn't know what his role was in my parents death until he looked surprised to see me alive and knocked me out. When I had finally came to he was yelling at someone on the phone. I kept quiet and listened in horror at what he was saying and trying desperately to process it all: The Alpha and Luna were dead, the staff and families that I had helped save were being locked in their homes until further notice, the bodyguards and most of the men in family's that had tried to fight back were confirmed dead. My future Beta was injured but had managed to escaped and his whereabouts were unknown. The future Alpha-Luna was presumed dead with her parents. Brandon was never suppose to get his hands dirty and when I wasn't confirmed dead with my parents it had created a minor wrinkle in his plan that he was ready and obviously willing to remedy.
I looked at the twins, it had been a couple of hours of driving and Jace was at the wheel now. If Gemma and Jace hadn't come blasting into that cellar when they did then my body would have been laid to rest with my parents. If I didn't know what I now know about them I would have never guessed that they were both expertly trained to kill, they didn't look like killers, "Neither did Brandon and Alice," Sage spat.
"Enough Sage, I get it, you told me so, now back the f**k off," I growled and pushed her to the back of my mind.
I looked back at Gemma and smiled as she hummed in her sleep. Gemma was gorgeous and the fact that she was unmated was a little bit of a surprise. She was a few inches shorter than me so I'm assuming she is close to 5'8/5'9. Her sandy blonde hair was in a loose ponytail down to her shoulders. After taking a mandatory first aide course at their Elite Academy Gemma knew she was hooked. At only 17 years old when Gemma applied to med school she was not only the youngest student to have ever attend but the youngest to ever graduate at the top of her class at only 19 years old.To say Gemma was an overachiever would be stating it mildly. Medicine had become her calling and she dove right into medicine feet first and never looked back.
Both she and her brother had a summer golden tan in the middle of October. They both also have two different eye colors: one green and one brown. And aside from being highly competitive with each other, especially since Gemma was born a whole two minutes first, that is where the similarities had ended. Where Gemmas was on the smaller side with light hair Jace had dark black curly hair and was a brick of a man. Tipping the scales at almost 285 pounds his 6'2 build was most definitely all muscle. He had decided on the opposite path of his sister and went into specialized military training. Guerrilla warfare, special intelligence and weapons training for a 21st century wolf but since tech and weapons were not always dependable he also had spent years in physical training essentially becoming the perfect tool. He was in all sense of the word a walking weapon and had the scars to prove he wasn't someone you wanted to mess with.
Then there was me. I knew I stood on equal grounds with them with my education and training but I was still feeling insignificant. I also had advance courses and special training to help get me ready to run this pack and yet despite it all I lost it all in a matter of hours. I sneered to myself, who am I kidding? It hadn't even reached hours, I wasn't even named the Alpha-Luna of the Crimson Woods pack yet before it got snagged away. If I couldn't even make it to being named Alpha then what kind of Alpha would I have made if I had been...
