The Alpha-Luna

(Jace P.O.V) We were about five hours into the drive to our new location. It was North of our territory and close to the boarder of Montana. It was late and Gemma was past out and snoring up a storm in the backseat. Her neck was at a weird angle with her face pressed up against the glass window with a small line of drool sliding out of the side of her mouth. I laughed when I thought about how stiff her neck was going to be once we finally got to the safe house. I turned my gaze and saw the Alpha-Luna deep in thought. We all lost someone and something tonight but she lost the most. She not only lost her parents to someone she thought were her best friends and a trustworthy future Gamma but she also lost her entire pack and for someone who was suppose to run the pack after tonight I'm sure she felt that weight of responsibility the most. I'm sure a whole list of 'what ifs' were running through her head but in the end I doubt there was much that could have been done about Brandon and Alice's takeover, especially since it looked like there were an unexpected number of rogues planted within the pack. Sadie was taller than Gemma and just shy of me; coming in at close to 5'11. You could tell she was exhausted from the heavy bags under her eyes but that didn't do much to deter from how unique and hypnotic her grey-green eyes were or how lovely her peach colored lips were against her olive skin tone. While she was deep in thought her hands were in her lap fiddling with the ends of hair which could only mean her hair was probably way past her hips and definitely longer than Gemma's or any other girl that I had ever known and made me wonder how on earth she could handle that much hair. She wasn't raised much differently from Gemma and I and in fact we had a lot more in common than we had ever thought we did considering our paths rarely crossed. But that might have been through design. If our paths had crossed sooner who knows how things might have changed; one could have argued that things could have turned out better but I think if Alice and Brandon were left to plot longer than they actually did they might have actually succeeded in killing our future Alpha-Luna. Her destiny is much bigger than she knows, "Its bigger than even you know," my wolf, Onyx said with a sigh. "Of that I do not doubt," I answered, scratching the stubble of hair I could feel growing under my chin. I cleared my throat and tried to get her attention but got nothing. I wanted to pick her brain further and see what exactly she knew about being an Alpha-Luna and what her taking over Crimson Woods meant for not just our pack but other supernatural packs. From what we had discussed so far I know she was also educated in specific advanced studies such as Languages including American Sign Language or ASL. Mathematics and business were a must since she would have to take over most if not all of Alpha Carter's business accounts. The fact that her father had never once looked at her with disappointment or mistrust when he talked about her running the pack in the future showed the rest of us how unimportant her gender was in her role to run our pack. Him treating her as an equal made it easy for everyone else to treat her with the same respect they did our current Alpha. He saw a great pack leader and treated her as such. He gave her the same liberties he had when he was being groomed to take over the pack and one of those freedoms was to handpick her cabinet of Beta and Gamma. Granted she was young when she picked her cabinet and I felt if she was a bit older maybe she would have gone in another direction but since she hadn't she had picked her future Beta and Gamma around age ten and I believe this was in order to establish a close bond of trust early. From what Gemma and I had gathered that trust had turned into an intense crush for Brandon and a rage of jealousy from Alice, who although wasn't selected as a ranked official she still had plenty of pull as one of the top five fighters in the pack. When they all turned 18 Alice and Brandon turned out to be a mated couple and Sadie was still single. Although they had completed the mating, apparently Brandon still carried an intense torch for Sadie despite Sadie moving on, which had pissed Alice off to no end. Sadie respected the mate bond and gave Alice and Brandon their space. Sadie, trusting her friendship more than her wolf's instincts, chose to ignore the sideways glares or the forced smiles Alice gave her when they all got together. She decided to pour all of her focus into how to run her pack successfully. The sad irony was because she was starting to run the pack and designate jobs to her Beta and Gamma, they, Alice and Brandon or should I say Alice, started to resent her authority and began to plot their coo against Sadie. At least that was the standing theory. We knew Alice was unhinged and coming from a place of pure unadulterated jealousy but what was Brandon's excuse? When we heard him talking to Sadie it didn't seem like he still had feelings for her, if anything it came across like he couldn't stand the thought of a female Alpha running the pack and if that was the case from the start then why agree to be her Gamma in the first place? If our ancestor's prophecy was anything to go off of, Sadie's birth as the first Alph-Luna in almost five centuries is a good thing not just for our pack but for the other surrounding packs, clans and tribes in the supernatural world. She was going to change the world, we just didn't know how yet.
