Chapter 8

LIAM'S POV

I wake up when I feel Jane stirring. "Morning baby girl" I say and Jane looks at me before saying "Morning". "How was your sleep?" I ask raking my fingers through my hair. I decided I could use a hair cut realising it's getting a little longer than I usually wait to get it cut.

"It was good, did you sleep okay?" Jane asks not making any attempts to move as she woke up. I liked that, it just gave me more conviction that Jane was comfortable around me and felt safe. I knew that already but the more she opens up to me and trusts me with things I see as minor but I've no doubt is huge for Jane the more I know it and get reminded of it. "I slept good baby girl. You hungry? I'm hungry, wanna go grab food?" I say deciding not to make this into a big deal.

"Food would be good" Jane says.

"It's about time you woke up" Layla shouts from her bedroom. "I was tired" Jane says loudly back as she sits up. "I guessed that since it's nearly lunchtime. I've been waiting hours for you to wake up. Dr Vanguard said tge latest she would wait is midday" Layla shouts back as I decide to also sit up and as if by magic Dr Vanguard is in the door way walking in as she says "Okay morning checks then food. lizzie said your obs were a little better over night. How you feeling after some good sleep?"

"I wasn't feeling bad until I sat up. This headache is still there. I feel a little light headed as well" Jane says and I pause in my idea to get up and give them some space as I turn to look at Jane. She has gone paler than she was a second ago. "Dr Vanguard Jane is paler than when she was laying down. What's wrong with Jane?" I ask not taking my eyes away from Jane.

"I'll do some observation and give medication up here. Food will definitely help for sure" Dr Vanguard says.

"You don't think we left the hospital to soon do you" I say "Stop fretting Liam. Jane will be okay don't forget we had a long journey and arrived back late. Then Jane didn't get to sleep to god knows what time" Layla says patting my shoulder. "Just before

three am and then was woken at five and back asleep around quater six. That's when Jane slept. I know because I paid attention to the times" I say as Dr vanguard goes and get some stuff. "I had some sleep on the journey back as well. I'll be okay" Jane says rubbing her head.

"See, just give it time. Let's not forget the recovery isn't a quick thing. Dr Vanguard said any concerns she will have Jane admitted to the hospital faster than we can blink. We have blinked and she hasn't gone into a frenzy" Layla says.

"Excaulty and I haven't had a decent shower yet either I need a decent shower or bath or something today" Jane says.

"Okay, I'll stop stressing" I say but I know I won't. How can I not worry and stress about the women I love people tried to kill her and then I discovered all this s**t happened and then I discovered she was raped years ago and the reason she doesn't date. She has been through alot and I know it's going to take alot to help her overcome everything.

"Okay, go have your shower do whatever while I do all this Liam. I don't need your worry in here" Dr Vangard says coming back in with lizzie.

"But" I go to say but then Luke says shouts "No buts, we need to talk anyway. Come on. Morning Sissy, you don't mind if I borrow my brother do you?"

Jane looks at me and says "Go, I'll be okay" before shouting out to Luke "Take him".

"Don't worry, I'll stay with Jane" Layla says so I give up and get up as I say "Okay, but anything I want to know. That's non negotiable as well baby girl" I say and with that I hurry out the bedroom as I see Luke also heading into the landing.

As we make our way up to my bedroom Luke fills me in with all our business dealings but he ends it with "Lastly, when are we going to deal with the f**k wits that hurt Jane?" just as we enter my bedroom.

"Today, but I want Chase hanging around and dad here. But I don't think dad will stay. Jane isn't feeling safe, she told me so even though she knows she should feel safe she doesn't. So I think at least one of us will have to stay here" I say.

"Okay, I'll give speak to dad about it. But I think it should be you or me. Jane sees me as a brother but she also trusts you alot right now because you haven't left her side. you said she went asleep at three this morning I git into bed at three. That tells me the second she was with you she relaxed enough to fall asleep. Makes sense you been by her side all the time since she woke up and even before that" Luke says.

"I know, but I need to get out for a hour and vent out my anger as well. I need to hurt the fuckers who hurt her. I've been torn between staying and killing them" I say.

"I know, but is today really the day for you leaving Jane. we can keep them alive until we all had our fill" Luke says.

"You think dad will keep them alive? I doubt it" I say.

"True but I think we all feel the same" Luke says and he is right we are just like dad when people cross our family.

"Just make sure he doesn't kill them yet" I say giving in. My baby girl needs me more today.

"I will make sure of it" Luke says with that he leaves and I get into the shower.

JANE'S POV

By the time I made it down stairs and layla insisted I sat in the living room where she would bring me food I was ready for sleep again.

"Good morning, how are you feeling today?" Cara asks looking uo from her laptop.

"I'm okay" I say going to sit next to Aaron who is sat next to his wife.

"You look paler today. You sure?" Aaron says as Luke comes in with a tray of drinks.

"My head hurts still. But what's new? I don't think this headache will ever go away" I say

"It will, be patient" Aaron says followed by Luke saying "Excaulty what dad says. You just need time to heal sissy".

"In order for patients though that will require a cigarette how you think I got through those weeks alone" I say.

"You started smoking?" Cara asks. "Correction I started smoking again. It helps not being so stressed but I know Layla's going to lose her mind so I need one of you to help me sneak out and have a cigarette today before I lose my mind!" I say "Don't any of you dare, I get it but it stinks I'd rather you vape" Layla says and I turn to see her standing in the door way holding a tray with my food on.

"Layla, if you want me to stay alive then I'm going to need a cigarette otherwise I'll go stir crazy mad and I can't promise I won't do anything stupid!" I say "Okay you can smoke outside and vape inside How's that for a compromise?" Layla says "Don't take the deal, take it with the areas like liams study and liams bedroom as exceptions to smoking inside to. Trust me Liam won't mind, it's where me and dad go when it's raining" Luke says. "Fine there also exceptions as well" Layla says placing the food in my lap.

"Thankyou, now luke I lost my cigarettes the night four masked men tried to kill me. I'd appreciate it if you could help me resolve that issue" I say picking up a slice of toast.

"I've got a extra packet you can have. I'll grab more when I pop out soon" Aaron says

"Although I'm sad you started smoking again Jane, I understand it. However Once your feeling more up to it I think you should switch to just vaping or even try therapy" Cara says as Liam walks in saying "Since when did you smoke baby girl?" His hair is still wet but his face is freshly shaven and he is in lounge wear not his usual suits for work. "Since people hate me" I say not wanting to repeat everything again.

"Well we don't hate you" Cara says closing her laptop. "Yeah I could never hate you baby girl" Liam says.

"And well your stuck with me through thick and thin" Layla says passing me my drink I go to reach for. "Thanks, and thank you all for usut being your usual selfs" I say

"Okay, well I'll bring by the whole packet of cigarettes in abit. For now take these there's half a packet" Aaron says standing up. "Thanks, anyone got a lighter by any chance?" I say "I've got loads I can sort you some" Liam says as Luke kisses Laylas head before saying "I'll be back soon as well. If anyone needs anything ring me"

"Bye" I say after drinking some of my drink. I wonder how long there be at work for today. I'm surprised Liam is going as well. Then again in glad it looks like Liam is sticking around for abit because at least one of the Mafia men will be here. I'd prefer them all here but I'll take one not that I'd stop any of them working though. Urgh I hate this stupid scared women I've become.

I take enougher bite of my toast drowning everyone out not even hungry anymore as I lose myself in my thoughts of what a miserable life I have right now.

My phone breaks me out of my thoughts as it starts to ring. I see it's Jack and wonder what has happened now to mess my life up. He gave me his personal number saying I could call day or night no matter how big or small the issue is.

"Hello" I say answering the phone.

"Hi Jane it's Jack, how are you today?" Jack asks.

"Let's skip the formalities shall we, just answering me one question. Is ny life in immediate danger?" I say then I feel three pairs of eyes on me.

"No, it's not" Jack says to which Jane then say "Great, then I don't want to know whatever news you have to share with me. The police commissioner ringing surely isn't a good sign and if I'm honest Jack I'm about one more bad thing happening to top myself right now. So please whatever it is ring anyone else and deal with it. I don't want to know" I say to which Cara holds out her hand and says "Give me the phone Jane I'll sort whatever it is out" as Jack says "Oh uh nothing new that you are already aware of hasn't happened". Then I lose interest as Cara takes the phone as I pass it over. I then look at Layla as I say "Thanks for the food layla but I'm just not that hungry right now. With that I place the tray on the table in order to get up. Liam is quickly by my side as he helps me up and I block out whatever Cara and Jack are talking about. I really couldn't care less right now. Instead what I want is a damn cigarette.
