Alpha Reeze’s (Red Blood Moon Pack) P.O.V
I was watching my son faze for the first time. I know that most call it shifting, but our pack always calls it faze. He was doing well and had trained every single day ever since he turned fourteen years old. His mother had fazed at a young age and so did I, but Barnett didn’t follow us in that respect and we knew that it was because he was special and would faze in his own time. Our pack is different to others, we don’t turn our back on non-shifters like the most do. In other packs if a person can’t shift/faze then they kick them out of the pack or worse, make them the slaves of the pack. We don’t do that, we treat them the same and include them in all aspects of training, but they do have to train harder so they can protect themselves and we love them the same as we love the other wolves in our pack. I kept a close eye on all the wolves fazing, but even more so on my son and when he was finally done he was a huge black wolf with baby blue eyes that glowed and I knew right away that this was his wolf, Alpha. He was a gentle wolf, but he could also be mean as hell when it comes to his human, Barnett, and he won’t let others harm him. I remember a few years back when a pack member was picking on Barnett because he hadn’t fazed yet, saying that he would be a worthless Alpha, but just as the words left his mouth, Barnett’s wolf, Alpha, came forward and pinned him against the wall. He had his hand on his throat, choking him and his face was turning purple. I had to run over and calm him down before he killed him because our rules state that he couldn’t kill another pack member unless he was betrayed by them or he would be put before the council and sentenced to death. I never want that for my son, so I calmed him down and his wolf nodded to me, respecting me as his human father and Alpha, then he threw the guy down on the ground and broke his arm, giving him a warning to never mess with his human again. Four years later the guy hadn’t tried to harm him again and now Barnett has fazed and is a majestic, beautiful black wolf. I smiled as he howled up into the sky and quickly shifted into my wolf, followed by the others that could shift and then we took off on our run through the human town with the other packs. We ran for hours, hunting down prey and then eating it, chasing each other through the forest and enjoying ourselves. I looked around for Barnett and found him near a tree, sniffing it like he had found something.
“Hey son, are you okay? What’s wrong?” I asked, mind-linking him as I walked over to him.
“Dad, I think my mate was here, but I can’t find her. I need to find out where she is right now.” Barnett replied, looking back at me.
“Don’t worry, son, you will find her and if she senses you then she will come to you. It won’t be long until you meet her.” I said and his wolf gave me a lopsided grin with his tongue sticking out.
“Alright, I can’t wait to meet her. I bet she is beautiful and strong, like a warrior.” Barnett replied and I shook my head.
“And if she’s not you will love her just the same. We do not reject our mates because they are weak, we help them train and help them to be stronger, like us. So whoever she is, love her and respect her, like you should, son.” I said and he quickly nodded, but I knew that he was still trying to smell her scent. Whoever she is, I knew that he would be happy. I could feel the air change and I knew that it was time to head back to the pack, so I let out a loud howl and so did the other Alpha’s, signalling to the rest of our packs that it was time to go. We ran back to our packs, so we could shift back and rest because it was a lot for new fazer’s to deal with on the first night and I knew they would be worn out. I looked around to see my son was right beside me, running back to the pack and I knew that he was worn out, but I also knew that he was going to come right back to this spot to figure out where his mate is and from which pack she is from.
Aura’s P.O.V
I waited and watched as the wolves ran past the tree I was in, but then one of them stopped and we all held our breath as it started to sniff around the tree. This was the first time wolves had stopped so near one of us and I wasn’t sure how to handle it if they saw us. It was sniffing around the tree that my mother, father, brother and I were sitting in, causing all of us to freeze in our spots. We had to stay very still because we had no idea what was going on, I mean was it going to pee and mark its territory or something? Another wolf came over and I could tell right away that they were talking to each other using their minds, just by the way they were looking at each other. The wolf that had been sniffing the tree grinned and stuck its tongue out of its mouth, making me laugh on the inside at its goofiness. I watched them for a few minutes and there was something about the one wolf that intrigued me, but I had no idea why, so I didn’t pay any attention to it and then all the bigger wolves started to howl loudly. I’m assuming that these were the Alpha’s of the packs because of how big they were, plus after they howled all the other wolves quickly stopped what they were doing and began to follow them. I watched as all the wolves ran off, but the one that stopped by our tree was still here, sniffing around a little more before it ran off and joined the others. It was so weird, like he was trying to find something or someone. There was something about him that I wanted to know more about, almost like I was fascinated by him and I had no idea why, but what I did know was that my butt was killing me from sitting on this branch for so long. We waited a couple more hours to make sure that the coast was clear and then we jumped down with ease, landing on our feet.
“Aura, that was your mate.” My mom said, walking over to me.
“Huh? What are you talking about?” I asked, confused.
“That was your mate, he was looking for you. It seems that their Moon Goddess Selena, your aunt, has chosen a mate for you, but you must do your duty first.” My mom said, shocking me. I knew that there was nothing I could do about this, so I sighed, knowing that my mother was right about my duty coming first, but I really wanted to know what pack he was from and when or if he would ever try looking for me again. Would he be scared of me when he knows that I’m an elf or would he try to kill me because of it? Maybe it would be best to stay away from him if I ever see him again. I shrugged off the worry in the pit of my stomach and joined my family in hunting. We speared a boar and a deer, knowing that it would be enough to feed on for two weeks, then we went home. Tonight had been a long and eventful night and all I wanted to do was rest, but I couldn’t get the wolf off my mind. I got into my house and laid down on my bed, wondering who this mysterious wolf was and what pack he came from. I knew that he was the son of an Alpha, so that would make him the Alpha when his father steps down, just like my eldest brother will when my father decides that he wants to step down from being an elder. I must admit the supernatural world was weird and had so many laws, but then each species had its own set of rules as well. I thought that aunt Selena was going to give me the mate of my choosing when it was time, that was the deal, but she picked him out for me and I didn’t mind at all. I trusted my aunt Selena’s judgement, but I just wished I knew what he looked like. I closed my eyes and relaxed, only to have aunt Selena pop up straight away.
“Aura, wake up, child. We need to talk.” Aunt Selena said and I opened my eyes. She would usually have me in some sort of woods or somewhere to do with nature, but tonight she came to meet me in my room. I sat up in my bed, confused as to what was going on and then worried that she was here.
“Aunt Selena, what are you doing here? What’s wrong?” I asked, worried.
“Aura, next week is your birthday and I know you want to celebrate by healing someone or even heading to go see Cheyenne, but there's something you must do. You must save her. You must get to her on time and save her, honey. I made a huge mistake and now I need your help to fix it.” Aunt Selena replied, confusing me.
“Wait, you said that all I needed to do was get her and Mercury back together, but now I need to save her life as well. I’m her protector, it's my duty to keep her safe. What are you talking about? I mean you said you made a mistake not having Mercury and Cheyenne together, but this sounds a lot more serious, so spill the beans.” I said, crossing my arms over my chest. Aunt Selena slumped down on the bed next to me, sighing and placing her head in her hands.
“It’s terrible, it’s all gone so horribly wrong and I don’t know how to fix it. Aura, when I brought Cheyenne back, I should have let them be together. I should have let Mercury and Cheyenne be together and put Holly and Ace together as it was planned, but I changed all of that and now they are planning on killing Cheyenne and then they are going after Mercury for his title.” Aunt Selena replied and all I could do was look at her. f**k, this is bad. This is so bad and we are in so much deep s**t if we can’t fix this.
