Chapter 20
Aura pov
I had thought long and hard about what I talked to my parents about. I need to find my mate. But before that. I have to talk to Mercury. But how the heck am I going to do that without freaking him out. I had once bought a phone. And I knew his number. I found it on Cheyenne phone. I knew I was being sneaky but how else was I going to get his number and talk to him. I haven't talked on a phone before. I only got it because all the humans had one. I paid the bill each month to keep it on. I wasn't sure to call him now or wait until after the arena fight. I think I will need to wait. Because if Cheyenne knows that he is here. She will run. She's getting better every day. But she's just not the same. It's like she lost herself. And she needs to gain it back. When I left my house. I went to my moms and sat down. I felt relaxed. I didn't have to heal or hear someone crying. I knew I shouldn't feel this way. But enough is enough. My mom Pandora came into the living room.
"Mom, I just don't know what to do right now. She's always alone. Or crying. Or upset. She's healed. I have done my job. I like the woman but enough is enough already." Her mother sat beside her rubbing on her daughter's arm.
"Aura, when we chose you to protect Cheyenne. We trusted you to do so. This woman has been through so much. From being burnt alive. From her parents trading her. And almost losing her life again. We know it's tough. Trust me I know. But things happen when you get upset. Or annoyed. But you do not ever turn your back on the one you are protecting. It's going to be tough at first. But everything will be okay. Just call Mercury. Tell him when the arena fighting will be. Let him know that Cheyenne will be fighting to invite his family. But make sure she does not know. She will run like a bat out of hell. She will listen to him. But that will be her decision if she wants to go with him." She knew her mother was right. She held her forehead to her mothers. Then stood up.
"I think I'm going to go for a walk in my favorite spot. After that I will give him a call." her mother nodded. They both stood up and Aura walked out the door. She made her way to her favorite park. There was no playground here. Just a nature trail. With a small bridge to walk over. She stood on it looking down at the water. She knew what she had to do. She walked over and sat down in the grass her arms up in the air as the trees covered her. This made her relax and enjoy the sun that was shining on her face. She pulled out her phone and hit the call button. She listens to it ring. But he never answered. She tried a second and a third time one more time and he finally answered.
"who ever the f**k this is. Better be good. I don't like my phone ringing off the hook like this!" she was nervous. She knew Mercury could be a scary guy. But she started talking fast before he hung up and she would have to call him again.
"Mercury, you don't know who I am. But Cheyenne is with me. She is safe but she needs you. She is just not the same right now. In a week there will be an arena fighting competition. If you want. You can come and watch. But you must let Cheyenne fight. This will bring her back. I know it will. Be by the tree where that wolf was scenting me. i am his mate. And if you will bring him that woujd be great. I must go. Goodbye." I hit the end button and I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding inside. I wondered if he would show up. If he does. I will have to make an excuse and meet him. I know his whole family will probably want to come as well. Maybe then when she sees her family. She will come to realise that she needs to fight back. That her family really does love her. I have a week to get her strong and fight with weapons. That's how we fight with swords. Bow and arrows, Stavs whatever we can get our hands on Including our powers. I just hope Cheyenne can overcome her fear and kick ass out in that arena.
