Sage P.O.V.
"Good morning sunshine!" Farah yelled, barging into my room.
I groaned and rolled over so my face was now in the pillow. I barely got any sleep considering everything that went down last night. I heard the drapes being ripped open, letting the morning sunlight in. She then proceeded to throw the covers off of my body.
"Hey!" I shouted in protest. But I must have fell on deaf ears because Farah just moved onto the other side of the bed with a mischievous look.
"Come on, get up! It's already ten and I'm bored," she pouted. I chuckled and rolled my eyes at her.
"Fine, I'm up," I grumbled, sitting up in the bed.
Farah squealed and jumped up and down, clapping her hands. I laughed and threw my legs over the bed. I was careful putting pressure on my ankle, but it seemed to be just fine so I stood up and walked into the bathroom. I did my business and brushed my teeth.
I walked back out to see my bed neatly made already but before I could even get a word out, Farah grabbed my hand and ran out of the room with me following behind. We ran down the hallway towards Leons office. The door was slightly ajar and we could hear soft murmurs coming from inside. Farah never bothered knocking, she just pushed her way inside dragging me with her.
Once inside, Leon, Travis, and Kenny were all huddled over the desk, speaking quietly. I gave Farah a confused look but she just shrugged, indicating she had no idea what they were doing either. The boys finally noticed our presence and, slowly, their conversation died down.
"Hey babe, what's up?" Travis asked first.
"I want to take Sage shopping," she said giddily, jumping on her toes.
I looked at her in shock for a moment, but it wouldn't be such a bad idea. And I wouldn't want to go with anyone else, honestly.
The guys looked at each other for a moment, earning an annoyed groan from Farah. Finally, Leon cleared his throat and stood up.
"Farah, if you wish to go, you are allowed. But as of right now, Sage can't leave," he stated, leaving no room for argument.
But of course, I argued.
"Why not?" I asked with a pout. Hopefully, he'll cave easy.
"I will discuss that with you in private in just a moment," he told me. I sighed and rolled my eyes, crossing my arms while I was at it as well.
Farah scoffed beside me and also crossed her arms. She wasn't going to just give up that easy, but before she could speak, Travis did.
"It's okay, baby. I can go with you," he said, giving her a dashing smile.
Out of nowhere, Farahs eyes filled with tears and her face completely dropped. I grabbed her hand and squeezed it, trying to comfort her.
"Why are you guys doing this to me?!" she shouted through her, now falling, tears. "First, you keep me out of all the stuff going on and now you're trying to torture me further by going shopping with YOU!"
"Farah, you know it's not like that," Kenny said, trying to ease her emotions.
"Come on, just calm down. You know your hormones are going crazy," Travis said sympathetically.
Biggest mistake ever.
In a split second, Farah went from a crying and hiccupping mess to a complete demon she-wolf. She raised her head up to stare at the men, all of their faces paling. Even I took a step back from her, she was pretty damn scary right now. Her fists were balled and she giving all of them, mainly Travis, a death glare.
"What did you just say to me," she growled lowly.
"Baby," Travis said, getting up from his chair and rushing to be in front of her. Bold move. He cupped her steaming face and looked her in the eye. "Maybe we should have this discussion in our room. With some ice cream?"
I saw her stiffen a little, before turning around and stomping to the door.
"Fine," she growled out. "But don't think this fixing anything for a second!"
He ran out of the room following his pissed off pregnant mate. I just stood there shell-shocked. I don't think I ever want to get pregnant now, not with mood swings like that at least.
I turned back around to see Leon shaking his head amused and Kenny was trying to hide his laughter, but failing. I walked over and plopped myself down in the chair Travis was occupying moments ago. I looked towards the men and shook my head.
"I'm never getting pregnant," I told them seriously.
Kenny burst out laughing while I even earned a chuckle from Leon. I ended up joining their laughter in the end, even though I was being dead serious when I said it.
"I think I'm going to go follow the entertainment," Kenny said, getting up from his chair and bowing to Leon. He ran out of the room and down the same way Farah and Travis had just went.
I shook my head as I heard Leon sigh. I turned to look at him, but he had already had his heated gaze set on me. I gulped as I saw his eyes traveling downward. Looking at him today, he looked totally different from the past two days. Everything about him was more defined, his chiseled jawline with the perfect amount of stubble, his perfectly plump lips, his straight nose. Well, at least I thought it was straight. Looking at it now, I noticed a slight crook on the bridge of his nose. He must have broken it a long time ago.
My eyes continued to gaze down to see as much as I could before the desk cut me off. He was wearing a cream colored button down shirt that fit him perfectly. His muscles still seemed to make an appearance even though they were being covered up. He had his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, my sight raking in his perfectly tanned forearms that I just wished to have wrapped around me passionately. I continued to stare until I noticed a red stain on the rolled up part of his sleeve.
I immediately got up and ran to his side from around the desk. I grabbed his arm, looking for the injuries.
"What happened? Are you okay?" I asked him quickly.
"Yes, what are you talking about?" he asked, looking me in the eye. I felt my cheeks burn with his gaze on me.
"There's blood on your sleeve," I said quietly, rubbing my small hands over his arms, still looking for any harm done.
He chuckled beside me and grabbed my hands in his.
"It's not my blood," he said standing up in front of me.
"Then whose is it?" I asked, honestly curious.
"That man from last night," he stated.
I nodded my head and leant back against his desk. He must've gotten some kind of information out of him, maybe that's why he isn't allowing me to leave. Why else would he go down there to beat him and stuff? That's why they do it in the books I read.
But, for some reason, something was telling me he mainly did it for me. Which is nonsense! Leon wouldn't beat him up just because he tried to hurt me, would he? I didn't want to believe that was the reason, and maybe it wasn't the full reason, but something kept telling me otherwise.
I looked up at Leon through my thick lashes, he was shuffling on his feet. Once he saw my gaze, I watched his Addams apple bob up and down.
"You beat him up?" I asked quietly. He didn't respond, just nodded. "Did you at least hit him once for me?"
He stared at me for quite some time and I wondered if he had heard me. He furrowed his brown and c****d his head to the side, but I could see the small smile playing on his lips. Until he finally broke out into a fit of laughter.
"Did you really just ask me that?" he asked through his laughing.
"Well, yeah!" I said, crossing my arms and rolling my eyes. "I want to know because if you didn't, then I want to myself."
His laughter died down immediately and he gave me a pointed look. Although, he still had a smirk on his face.
"You'll be happy to know I got in a lot more than just one shot for you, Sage. And you don't have to worry about doing it yourself because you won't ever see him again," he said, his voice light but I could hear the dark hint behind it.
We stared at each other for a long while. I just couldn't understand why he killed him, surely he didn't do it for me. I decided to change the subject.
"Okay, so why wasn't I allowed to go out with Farah?" I asked quickly, raising an eyebrow.
"That man, whose name was Keith, had a tracker implanted in his arm. That's why he didn't fight us much last night, and I just don't want to take the chance of something happening to you. The bad part was, it was also kind of like a walkie-talkie, which means someone was on the other end listening to everything we were saying. And what's even worse, we didn't find it until he was already dead."
"But the note said that they already knew where I was, so why place a tracker with him?"
"Just to be sure, I guess," he shrugged. "But, I do have some good news."
"Oh, and what might that be?" I asked with a smile.
"There's an Omega here in the pack that's also half witch. She said that, if you choose, she can preform the thread cutting for you. I told her that I wanted to talk to you first and see what you said," he said, taking a couple steps closer to me.
"Do you think she's trustworthy?" I asked.
"Of course, why wouldn't she be?"
"I just mean, I know there's a lot of people here that don't really like me," I said quietly, avoiding his gaze.
Leon walked over until he was right in front of me. He cupped my cheeks and looked deep into my eyes. I heard myself gasp as his touch sent tingles throughout my entire body. He was so close to me now, his scent making me lightheaded. I closed my eyes and leaned into his touch. I had to grip the edge of the desk I was leaning against to keep myself from grabbing him and doing something we both might regret. He wasn't making this easy though.
I could feel his minty breath fanning my face. I looked into his eyes and found an emotion I couldn't quite figure out.
"I will never let anything happen to you, Sage. I will keep you safe for as long as you let me," he whispered, causing my body to tremble.
"Why?" my mouth asked against my will.
Everything happened in slow motion after that. I saw his eyes flicker down to my lips, before I could comprehend what was about to happen, he started leaning in. I felt his nose brush softly against mine and my eyes fluttered close. My lips parted slightly and once I felt his lips right before my own, I lost control.
I felt like someone else when I crashed my lips onto his and wrapped my fingers in his hair. My body exploded with fireworks and I shuddered under him. His hands lightly gripped my waist, holding me still. He was being so gentle with me, as if I might shatter if he pushed too hard. However, the moment didn't last long.
"Baby! I'm back," a screeching voice came rushing into the room.
He didn't pull back too fast though, he ended the kiss after a few more seconds and then looked up. I licked my lips, savoring the taste of him, and then ran my hands down to his forearms. I looked back behind us and my heart froze for a minute.
There stood a woman in a tight red dress that showed too much cleavage and barely came past her underwear, if she was even wearing any. She had too much makeup on her face and her hair looked stiff as a board. She had her arms crossed and was tapping her heeled foot. She was looking at me as though she wanted me to drop dead there on the spot.
"Who the f**k is this, Leon?!" she yelled, pointing towards me.
I heard Leon sigh so I turned around and walked closer to the woman, extending my hand towards her with a smile plastered across my face.
"Hi, my name is Sage," I said nicely.
She looked at my hand and then to me with disgust, scoffing and rolling her eyes.
"Did it look like I was even talking to you, b***h," she said with an annoyed tone.
I recoiled my hand and placed them behind my back, my smile never faltering.
"Well, seeing as how you were asking for my name, then maybe you should have been. That would be the respectful thing to do," I stated.
She started to say something else, but was cut off by Leon.
"Sydoney, what are you doing here? Uninvited and unannounced," he said, walking to stand next to me.
"I just came to spend a little time with my soon-to-be husband. Guess I'm going to have to mark my territory while I'm here as well," she said, smirking at me.
I could feel my heart drop to the floor, though I did my best to try and hide it. But it wasn't there for long, before Leon picked it back up and put it back in its rightful place.
"Sydoney, I will tell you this for the millionth time, we are not a couple. We are not together. And we're sure as hell not getting married," he said with a stern voice.
Sydoney growled loudly and took a threatening step forward. She looked from Leon to me and then growled a second time.
"You know I hate it when you joke like that, baby. I want you, and I will have you. Because I always get what I want," she said proudly, holding her head high.
"Listen, princess. You need to go back home and talk with your mother and father. Do they even know you're here?" Leon asks, crossing his arms and raising an eyebrow.
Her whole demeanor fell at the mention of her parents. They must not have known. I try to stifle my laughter but I fail so I tried to cover it up with a cough. She gets right up in his face and, for a second, I get worried at what she might do.
"Don't miss me, I wont be gone too long," she says before throwing me one last glare.
She walked to the door, swaying her hips rather dramatically, and snaps her fingers. A small guy, maybe only in his teens, rushes out with her holding her bags. I didn't even notice him until now. Poor kid, I thought to myself.
Finally, they're out of the office and Leon closes the door. He turns and looks at me with an annoyed but amused expression. He sits down on the couch and sighs, running a hand through his hair.
"And that was?" I ask, walking towards him.
"That, Sage, was Princess Sydoney Collins of The Crescent Moon Pack and Kingdom. They rule on the East side of the country while I rule the West. She's been wanting me ever since her parents hosted a ball and I spent the night with her. Biggest mistake of my life," he groaned, letting his head fall on the back of the couch.
"Sounds like it," I laughed, sitting next to him.
"She's just power hungry. She wants to be a queen so badly," he shook his head.
"But, she's a princess?"
"She is, but she has an older brother that's going to take the throne."
"Oh," I dragged out, nodding my head.
Leon looked at me with a smirk but his eyes looked worried.
"You're not upset that I slept with her?" he asked incredulously.
"Why would I be?" I chuckled. "It was the past and plus, do we even know what we are?"
He looked at me dumbstruck for a moment. I hadn't meant to be too blunt with him, but it's a question that's been raging on my mind since last night. I like him a lot, like really a lot. But I don't think I'm meant for him. He's a werewolf, so he should have a mate out there somewhere and I don't want to get in the way of that. I don't know what the sparks mean when we touch, but I know I'm not his mate because he would've claimed me as such.
"What would you consider us?" he asked softly.
I looked at him wide-eyed. How do I answer to something like that? Luckily, I didn't have to. A soft knock came to the door and Leon stood up to go answer it.
In walked a petite young woman with long wavy brunette hair and piercing blue eyes. She looked at me and a warm smile spread on her face. I got up and walked over to her, extending my hand. Hopefully, she'll be nicer than Miss Prissy Princess.
She took my hand in hers and shook it.
"Hello, Sage. I am the Omega here to help, my name is Elaine."
