Chapter 5

She is not someone in whom I have any interest. Get rid of that woman! I issued a command and indicated it with a hand motion. "Why? She is quite kind, and while we were driving, she showed me some of the bridal designs that she had created in the past. Penelope retaliated with resistance. "Fine. You are free to retain her; I'd just rather not have her in my company. After heaving a sigh and sitting down, I admitted defeat and gave up. I can tell you that you will not come across her. She had provided me with her words. "After..." She scrutinised my appearance as her eyes narrowed. "After this, what should we do?" My expression changed, and I started to frown. Within the following couple of days. On the following two days, she would have brought a number of different engagement ring options for us to choose from. "Fine. But that changed after that. The final word she indicated with a nod that she understood and accepted my instructions. There is a knock at the door, indicating that there is a visitor who has just arrived. You are welcome to enter at any time. "Penelope!" My grandfather broke into a broad grin as he strolled into the office where I was working. "Spouse's dad!" Because of this, she got up out of her seat and hurried up to him in order to give him a hug. Although we were older, my dad still liked Penelope a lot. It's very unusual because anytime the three of us are in the same room together, he quickly directs his focus on her. My father had the intention of introducing us to one another, but when he found out that Winter Simpson was still grieving the loss of an ex-lover, he changed his mind and decided not to do so. I am delighted that the two of you have found each other. In what specific ways may I contribute to the preparations that are being made? When he was put under pressure, he asked questions. We decided to hire a wedding planner so that we wouldn't have to worry about any of the details. It was my response that they received. "Hi, Kyle! I just stopped by to bring you some documentation that has to be reviewed and signed. Thanks for your time! After that, he hurled a brown packet in my direction. I took the time to go through the documentation I needed to sign before I left the room as they continued their conversation. It was an "I quit, Dad" message. After arranging the papers in the correct order, I re-enclosed them in the envelope. That's awesome, and I'm going to get rolling right now. Hello, Penn; it was a pleasure to finally meet you. It's a case of "you too" in this scenario. She smiled right back at him with a warm response. Once my dad had departed, my mother quickly grabbed her bag and announced, "I have to leave too." My time was better spent elsewhere. Following the completion of her speech, she departed. It was her face that initially threw me off, but as soon as I saw her, Alexis popped into my head. No. Oh, what am I making myself do? Mackenzie is an experienced event organiser who works professionally. I apologise, but I think I'm overanalyzing this situation. At the absolute minimum, the last time I saw Alexis was in Glendale. The insistent knocking on the door finally jarred me out of my thoughts and brought me back to the present. In this particular instance, I decided not to provide a response. Someone continued to rap on the door multiple times. "Let's just go ahead and get in here!" Sure, I did raise my voice. It's like asking, "What do you want?" I am in possession of the list that you requested from Human Resources, sir. I took some time to go through the list that she had just given to me. This list has a total of fifteen different names. employees who lack consideration for others and who are unconcerned about the success of the Employees. Why are so many people taking unneeded sick days when I've only given one person permission to do so? I said. Ten of the fifteen should be allowed to keep their jobs, as per my request. She remained motionless for a split second out of shock before regaining her composure. That is absolutely right, sir. She nodded her head in agreement. Only four items remained on the mountain of paperwork that had grown on my desk during the course of the day. Because of this, I had some breathing room to take a little rest. I get in my car and drive back to the house to take a nap. If you had told me eight years ago that I'd be a businessman who dresses professionally and gets up at six in the morning to commute to work, I would have laughed in your face and possibly punched you. Now, however, I find myself in that exact position. However, here I am, a successful businessman. I decided to move towards the bedroom in the hopes of catching a quick power nap. It was still totally black outside when I opened my eyes slightly after having lain in bed for at least half an hour with my eyes closed. As I looked at my phone, it was 2:30 in the morning. As soon as my eyes took in that scene, I was immediately put at ease in my bed, and I made preparations to go to sleep. I had a restful night's sleep, and when I eventually got up, I felt sluggish and lethargic. My entire body, though, experienced a sense of relief and lightness following a revitalising shower. I get myself ready to go to work. Even though I have a commitment for the following day, I have to work tomorrow. After selecting the rings, I was intending to go back to my house and take a nap there. My obligation to report to work was triggered when Penelope informed me that she had left the rings. I wasn't surprised to see that the workplace was already humming with activity at such an early hour. When I first realised how powerful I was, it made me chuckle. Almost immediately, Lisa gave me a cup of coffee and informed me that I had no outstanding responsibilities to attend to. I was able to breathe a sigh of relief. At the moment, I'm just chilling at my desk as I wait for Penelope to arrive. Oh my god, she said she'd be here by two, but it's now 2:30 and she broke her promise. "Sorry!" Penelope was looking at her gold watch when I opened my door, and I spotted her doing so. She is obligated to take a certain course of action. Macy was following behind her carrying a suitcase, and she waved at her as she passed. It was a foregone conclusion that she would be the reason that Penelope arrived so late. "Whatever. Let's not waste any more time and get things done already. It was a mumble." She invited him to sit down with her and opened a box, which contained a number of different wedding bands. They were practically ready to go at that point. The first piece of jewellery was a ring made of an artificial sapphire set in sterling silver. Regarding the second, it was an authentic titanium wedding band. The third ring had a gorgeous emerald, while the last ring was made of 10kt gold and had a simple yet elegant design. Penelope had the final say on which ring she would wear, but they were all beautiful. I can't wait to hear your response to my question, "What do you think, babe?" She shifted her focus to look at me. I was taken aback when, for the first time, she referred to me as "babe." "I like the 10 karat pure gold for the engagement because it will look beautiful on you," she said. "It will look absolutely stunning on you." Considering that it's for a wedding, maybe an emerald cut? The ones that I mentioned caused a grin to appear on her face. He said that we would take two of them. If you'll excuse me, I have to call my mother right now and let her know that we found the rings. Thank you. After she left, it was just the two of us in the office, which seemed very strange. She never raised her chin; she always kept it low. How well do I know you? Before I entered, there was not a single sound to be heard anywhere in the building. "No. In my opinion, that is not the case. While she spoke, she tinkered with her glasses. In other words, "Have a gander at yours truly." As I gave the command, she simply shrugged her shoulders. "Conversing with a person in person is far more enjoyable for me." I informed her, and I watched as the colour gradually returned to her face. You can't turn a blind eye to those eyes. The identical sheen of emerald and sparkle. Is there any chance that that could be her? "Could you please repeat your name to me?" she asked with a curious tone. Yeah, I did inquire. Name: "Mackenzie Poiner" Her reaction came quite quickly. As the door was unlocked again, Penelope went ahead and stepped inside. You will be compensated monetarily, so accompany me. "No. To what degree do they set you back? I was able to stop their advance with just the sound of my voice. $100,000. So you have to bring emeralds in from elsewhere. After receiving a response from Penelope, I opened a book, removed a page, signed it, and then replaced it in the book. I presented it to Mackenzie, and she acknowledged receipt of it. To put it another way: "Appreciate it." After that, a grin appeared on her face. Alexis could not possibly have a twin sister and choose to keep that information from me in any way. Penelope abducted her and took off with her. When they had left, I got in touch with Mason, who is an experienced private investigator. Calls placed to the number were not picked up by anyone who answered. I did not give up even though I was not experiencing any luck. When will I finally stop thinking about other people when I should be focusing on my fiancee? At the very least, she hasn't given up on us, unlike the others in the group. After gathering my belongings, I exited the building and made my way home. In addition to being the one who did it, my dad was the one who left the workplace and made it home before everyone else. He commissioned an artisan to sew an outfit that was exclusively mine. Not only do I not like this version, but I also do not like that one. Neither of them appeal to me. At this time, both my father and the designer had tried on a dozen different costumes, but they were beginning to blend together and seem indistinguishable from one another. Yet, I'm seeking an encounter that's both thrilling and engaging. The fashion designer let out a sigh as he presented a cream-colored suit with a variety of patterns on it, while I laughed to myself, "I don't see why you didn't make this public sooner." I would appreciate it if you accepted this as my answer. He let out a sigh of relief before handing the clothing to me. When I finally made up my mind on a suit, my father couldn't have been happier. When we showed the clothing to my mother, she expressed a great deal of admiration for it. I peeked out the window after hearing a honk coming from outside, and there was Emily's car sitting there. She wouldn't dream of missing either my engagement or wedding for anything in the world. "Kyle!" She screamed and dashed over to give me a hug as soon as she saw me. I couldn't help but smile as I returned her embrace and found myself laughing out loud. How are things going for you? As soon as I questioned her, she hit me in the face. Put me out of your mind; you're engaged to a fantastic woman who will become your wife. Remember what I said to you back when we were in high school, and write it down. She appeared to be chuckling to herself, since I completely understood what she was talking about. My head went up in agreement. FLASHBACK My mother gave the order for all of us to wait there when she saw that Penelope and her father were on their way to our house. Emily came up behind me and touched me on the arm while whispering that my future sister-in-law was on her way. I couldn't help but chuckle at it because I found it quite amusing. I don't care how hard you try to convince me otherwise, but I'm never going to give in and get married. Because the adults have arrived, we ask that you be as quiet as possible. "I had a feeling!" She explained, "To make fun of." "You were accurate; I confess it," was the reaction that I received. When I told her, the grin that was already present on her face became even wider. At dinner, we had a wonderful time talking about my approaching wedding and how everyone was so happy for me and thrilled for me. I checked the caller ID as soon as it started ringing and noticed that it was Ashton.
