“WE’RE HERE, ELLA,” Mark shook her shoulder, and she woke up with a jerk. Her eyes were wide and scared. “It’s just me, don’t be scared,” Mark whispered and stroked the side of her face. Ella nodded. Then she noticed he had stopped the car in front of her building. Disappointment tasted bitter on her tongue. It was evident that Mark didn’t want her to know where he was living. She wanted to shout at him, but she didn't feel strong enough to quarrel with him right then, so she just smiled sadly. “Do you want to park in the visitors’ lot or where you always park when you come here?” she asked him. “I'll leave the car in the visitors’ parking tonight.
