CHAPTER NINE –––––––– * * * * ELLA BRUSHED HER HAIR with rushed movements and then watched herself in the mirror. She looked good. Well, as good as possible after a long day at work. She had had so much to do during the last couple of days that she almost lacked the energy to go out. The dark circles around her eyes bore witness to her exhaustion and painted her skin with shadows. She knew that although she was tired, she would still go out.
