CHAPTER THREE –––––––– ELLA DIDN'T DARE TO take any chances, so she arrived at Jo’s apartment five minutes earlier. She remembered that punctuality was one of Jo’s best qualities if one would think of that as a good quality in certain circumstances. Jo was a stickler for promptness. God forbid someone would be one minute late! The quiet Jo would switch to nagging Jo, and the culprit’s ears would catch fire. Ella had had her runs in with Jo on that subject before, and tonight, she only wanted to have fun. Being lectured as if she were a ten-year-old, who had forgotten the rules, didn’t come into her plans. She kept her eyes on her watch and knocked on Jo’s door only two minutes before eight. After long consideration, Ella concluded that she had better give Jo time for the final touches
