"Hello Mr Meriwether, I will soon be at your suite" "Baron, this document contains little to no information," Varian said turning his hand through his hair, he could not believe that he had gotten all excited about the situation only to be disappointed by the inadequate information provided by his assistant. "That was all I was able to lay my hands on sir" Baron replied. "Do you want me to find someone else to do it?" Varian's voice was calm but Baron could hear all the unspoken words and intention behind them. "No sir," he said with a gulp. He had heard about the notorious nature of Mr Meriwether but ever since he joined him four years ago he had been a pretty normal person. He thought that maybe the previous assistant was just throwing it out of proportion but hearing his tone he knew he was in for a ride. Baron saw him while he was coming out of a supposed slump, the man who handed it over to him had warned him to run but working for him had been the best decision he made. Varian always received the best and it was not something to be surprised about. His family would not have been the richest in the city if they had done things halfheartedly before. They would not even be close to where they were if they had done things without perfection. "Then get me the information I asked for within three hours," he said in a tone of finality. He waited for a brief minute before adding "Mind you I'm being as generous as I can get" Varian pulled the phone away from his ears and sighed in frustration. He had been eager to read what his assistant would have prepared for her only to find a few words telling him everything about her that he had already known. He knew that his frail assistant might not be up to the task of finding out the information. He was going to give him three hours and then jump into it himself if he was unable to fulfil his duty. He was a little worried the young lad might lose his job today. He would be sad to see him go anyway, he had grown on him over the last four years but if he was too slow in taking on this kind of task then he was of no use at all. Varian had never monitored the time as much as today, as soon as it was the three-hour mark he put a call through to Baron. Baron felt his heart skip a beat when Varian's number came up on the screen. He gulped, answered the call and then put the phone to his ears. "Hello Mr Meriwether" he said warily. "Hello Baron, so what's the news about her?" He asked not waiting to chit-chat about anything. "I have been unable to find anything about her" "If you can't do something yourself you should get someone who would do it for you" Varian said and the line beeped dead. Baron did not know his fate as he stared at the phone in his hands. He could not tell from the voice he had heard over the phone if he was in trouble or not. Varian called one of the best private investigators in the city and asked him to find information about Ellen Everhart. The man could not find everything but at least he could tell that Ellen was unmarried and a mother to triplets. Varian could not stop his mind from wandering around the place thinking of the possibility of the children being his. "You seem to have a lot on your mind today Mr Meriwether," Ronan said. Varian smiled at him before taking the cup to his mouth and taking a sip from the wine in it. "Do you want us to reschedule the meeting instead?" "Oh no not at all, I am fine" Varian finally let out. "I mean I will be in your city for a personal assignment next week, we can meet up there," Ronan said. "Can we do that?" Varian asked eagerly. He tried his best to hide his excitement to welcome the idea but he was sure he had failed at it woefully. "Of course" Varian could not explain the relief he felt from hearing the man give such a suggestion. His mind was consumed by the probability of him having children he was not aware of. "Let's just have a good dinner together and skip the business talk then" Ronan suggested since they had only begun their seven-course meal. "That's a good idea" Varian said taking up his cutlery and taking a bite from the food. Varian suddenly wondered what the man sitting in front of him was coming to do at Nebula City. "By the way, what other business do you have in our city" Varian asked. He was always straightforward which was one of the things that had helped his business so very much in the past. However, it was the very thing that hindered him from having good personal relationships with others. "Just something personal" Ronan replied. He was aware of the attitude that Varian had and it was not a secret but he wondered why he was concerned about it. "Oh, I did not know you had affiliations with our city" Varian said carrying the conversation. Ronan wondered why the same person who was so distracted while they discussed business which was his only obsession was now so invested in his personal affairs. "I used to live there four years ago" Ronan replied. The shock on Varian's face forced the man to explain further. "You would not have known me then, I only made big money after coming out here" he added. His explanation made sense to Varian because he couldn't be unaware of any famous businessmen who lived in his city. "So are you going there to see someone special?" "Well, my first love" Ronan said a blush taking off his face. "Your first love?" Varian was invested, maybe because he was having a hard time because of Ellen. "We were separated by her mom but she invited me personally to her party and promised me that her daughter would be there, I can't wait to meet her again" "Oh wow," Varian could not believe that such a famous businessman like this could speak in such a manner. "Yeah, you might know her as well" Ronan took his cup of water and downed the content before raising his head to him with a smile. "Ellen Everhart" "ELLEN EVERHART?"
