"Language there are kids around" Ellen said her hands going up to cover her mouth. "What?" Elise said flustered blinking multiple times. "Oh yeah so sorry" she said shaking her head as she apologized. "Are you going to show me my room or are you just going to stand there gaping?" Ellen said pushing Elise's shoulders a bit. "Oh," Elise said snapping back to reality. She knew that Ellen might have a hard time talking about the situation so she did not know what to do. Does she face her head on and tell her to talk about it or should she let her be? "I know you are curious so I would tell you because you've been the only sañe one in all of this madness" Ellen said as Elise pushed the door to the room open. "This is nice," Ellen said as they entered the room. "Mom took special care to prepare it for you" "By asking the staff to do a good job?" Elise eyes wandered the room as she tried to avoid eye contact. She knew that Ellen would find it hard to believe that her self-centred mother was interested in where she slept. "She did her best," Elise said and then walked in. "Of course she did" Ellen followed her in and closed the door behind her. "That's the bathroom, to the right is the closet" Elise said pointing in the direction. Ellen walked to the closet with the door left open looked inside and scoffed. "She shopped for me already?" Ellen asked turning back to the room. "Why are my clothes not high-end enough to fit out status?" She asked and Elise shook her head. She did not know how to reply. "You know the way she is" Elise finally said. "Of course, I do, just let her know I won't need to wear any of those clothes, I won't be going out anyways" "I don't know how you want to work that out but good luck all the same" Elise said planting herself on the bed. "About Varian" Ellen began taking off her jacket and placing it on the couch. Elise turned to her with rapt attention as if she was about to be taught something she had never known before. "What about him" she asked trying her best to tread cautiously. "I met him at the airport and he saw Arlo" Ellen said closing her eyes in frustration. "I was here barely an hour and he already knows about one of his children" she added. It's all her mom's fault, she had been able to keep her children and their identity a secret for all this time but her mom just had to ruin her hard work within a few minutes. "So that doesn't mean anything, you could have remarried and had your own children, why would you be bothered by that?" Elise asked. she had thought it was something more scary that happened. "The resemblance is uncanny," Ellen said. "That does not mean anything. If you can avoid him for three weeks you are good to go, you don't need to leave the house aside from the day of the party and after that, you are safe back to where you came from" Elise said. "Do you think it would be that easy?" Elise's words sounded so sweet she wanted to believe her but a part of her knew it was not going to be as easy as she was saying it would be. "We just have to wait and see" "He also said he wanted to see me when he was back from his trip" Ellen added. "Wait so you spoke to him?" "He stopped in front of me and said hi. What was I supposed to do? Run away? Ignore him? or dig the ground and bury myself?" she let out sarcastically. Elise rolled her eyes before responding "Well, don't worry I know everything will work out in the end regardless of whatever happens," She tried to sound comforting Ellen did not feel completely okay with the situation but she was glad that Elise was still the same sensible coolheaded individual she knew. "Thank you" Ellen said finally turning around and walking towards her as she sat on the bed. "For what?" "Oh my gosh, just take the thank you," Ellen said scrunching up her nose in the air. "Oh and before I forget, Ronan is also flying in for the party" Elise said standing up and trying to act nonchalant about the information she had dropped on her. "Ronan? Which Ronan?" "Ronan Stirling" Elise's voice was strained. "What?" "It's not me, mom invited him, apparently he is now a hot shot in Chiachester City" "So she's latching to him after what she did to him? And all because he has money now?" Ellen scoffed. "Typical mom" "So she is inviting the man she pried me away from? What is she planning now?" "I can't tell, you should rest up now, see you later," Elise said giving her a warm smile before walking out. Ellen watched the retreating figure of her sister and then her eyes darted to the walls where a picture of her mom hung. She stood up and walked over to the image, she ran her fingertips gently over the picture. "Mom, I won't let you walk over me again"
