Chapter 8 - THAT'S A DANG DRAGON

1151 Words
The weather felt extremely cold today, seeking warmth from her leather jacket, Mia wrapped her fingers around the hot cup of tea that laid in front of her and gently took a sip . She turned to Danna who had arrived some minutes earlier trying to understand the back and forth conversation she was having with Diarmuid... she really couldn't get a thing from what they were saying. "Look just excuse us... please" Danna stated and Mia watched Diarmuid leave the room. Danna walked up to her with a warm smile on her face and took a sit opposite Mia. "Don't mind my brother, he always like this, isolating himself and all" she sounded a bit down but chuckled lightly to keep the redhead at ease, Mia forced on a smile... she was just happy to see Danna. "Mia, I know by now you know that you're not in your world anymore" her crystal black eyes were focused on the red head and she nodded lightly "Right, something pulled you into our world and honestly speaking it would be extremely difficult to send you back since well... you know, you are just human" her words were soft but yet caused Mia so much agony. "So what do I do now?" her voice croaked, she was extremely worried right now and couldn't imagine what her aunt and grandma were going through right now or Lorraine - she'd never been the type to take a case of death or disappearance easily without breaking down, even when the case wasn't related to her. "I went to inspect the plane and I realized that there's no way any normal human would have survived that" Mia’s grip on her hot cup of tea tightened and she lifted it to her face so the steam could warm it up "Are you saying I'm not human?" "Not at all, you are definitely human but there something quite odd about you" what the hell did she mean by that, Mia’s gazed at Danna begging for an explanation. "I need you to do a back track, try and remember something you did that could have changed you" she stated calmly and Mia sighed "I have lived a completely normal life, nothing abnormal ever happened well until this accident" she really couldn't take any of this, she needed to go home. Danna was silent for some minutes just gazing at Mia which felt creepy, using her hand to prop up her chin she sighed "I promised my brother that you'd stay just one day" she lifted herself gently from the chair "I really want to help you but I really have no idea how" Mia didn’t know what she was getting at but it really made her uncomfortable. "You want me to leave?" She blurted, it wouldn't be wrong if that was what they wanted but she definitely didn't want to be cast into that scary forest and also didn't want to be stuck here with Mister arrogant. "Doing that would hurt my conscience but I can't take you with me, if the fay council were to find out about you, you'd be dead in a second and well Darren …. I can't trust him" she stated walking up to Mia "so I'm taking you to a mage, maybe he can help but I said something pulled you into our world and we need to find out what and why or else sending you back will be a waste" Mia gently dropped the hot cup of tea on the small table that stood in front of her totally confused... what on earth did she do that got her cut up in this other world. s**t! maybe getting into the DA was some immortal fit... she stared at Danna who looked at her with so much concern in her eyes "What now?" those words came out really low "We'll meet the mage and try and find out why you are here and how to get you out... ready?" Danna asked stretching her hand towards Mia and she took hold of them. "Yeah" she nodded, standing from the chair, she grabbed her laptop bag and swung it across her shoulder ready for her unknown journey. Danna walked ahead of her and she followed behind unsure of what deep mysteries laid ahead of her. They walked through the cherry blossoms fields on a clear path until they arrived a giant rock - which looked oddly familiar, Danna paused at the rock and took hold of her hand "Close your eyes" she whispered with a smile. This again? Mia closed her eyes and felt Danna pull her forward and she opened her eyes to see herself in a very beautiful garden with various hanging vines and flowers. "Are we inside a rock?" Mia blurted "Yes... this is were Diarmuid entertains his unwanted guest" she grinned "Come" she stated navigating the rock until she finally arrived what looked like an opening... a portal like object stood in front of them with water like ripples, Danna walked through it and Mia did the same. "Wow!" She exclaimed as they arrived a vast forest, she turned to see a giant rock behind and immediately knew why it looked familiar. "Now Mia I'd like you to meet my friend Windfall" "Who?" she asked confused when a strong wind blew against her and something heavy landed on the ground, Mia turned around slowly to see a 15ft creature standing behind her "That's a dang dragon" she stared at the creature in front of her, it had black shiny scales, black mane, green eyes and a very sharp claw. "Don't be scared Windfall is completely harmless... and he's our ride since well you can't fly" Danna stated rubbing her hands gently against the side of the creature. ride? she had to be kidding, Mia watched the creature lower itself to the ground and swallowed hard just imagining having a ride on a dragon. "You first" Danna said walking up to Mia and she took a step back really terrified "It's going to be fine" She stated taking hold of Mia’s hand and assisting her unto the dragon before getting on herself. "Umm hold on tight" she muttered while gently tapping Windfall... The beast flapped it wind and Mia grabbed hold of its mane as tightly as she could, forcing her eyes shut. The Dragon propelled itself into the sky with great force and speed causing her heart to sink into her stomach and she choked on a scream as it did…. It wasn’t like any roller-coaster she’d been on , once they were in the air, it reduced it's pace and began to glide peacefully through the sky. "You can open your eyes now" Danna stated and Mia did, slowly taking in one of the most beautiful scenery she had ever seen... honestly this forest was more pretty in the morning.
