Chapter 3
It took Steve nothing less than few seconds to notice the curious, disconcerted look etched all over Madison's face.
Following where her gaze rested, he shifted uncomfortably, holding back a cough.
"This is actually a fake that I borrowed from a good friend of mine."
Madison narrowed her eyes.
Why did she feel that he suddenly felt defensive? And what made him harbour the thought that she was curious about the wristwatch.
Nevertheless, she shrugged.
Steve watched her intently. And then slowly, he leaned towards her so closely, such that if care wasn't taken, they would be nuzzling against each other.
Madison nearly gasped.
What could he be trying to do? And how much more gutsy could he be?!
The lack of space between them was just few inches away from an actual kiss. Madison held her breathe, moving back slightly to create more distance between them. For she couldn't understand what was happening.
She would scold him if he tries anything silly.
Her heart nearly skipped a beat as she let out a small sigh of relief when Steve leaned towards her ear. His hot breathe fanned her neck and if she didn't push him away now, she would turn all red.
Just before Madison could shove him away from her, Steve had said something that stilled her, right then and there.
"I hope my vain impression to look good today doesn't bother you, my dear wife."
Madison's eyes almost widened at his last words. His confidence was at times annoying. Like now.
Trying to cover up her shaken expression, she scowled at Steve and gently pushed him away from her.
Meanwhile, Steve was slightly perplexed for he had heard that the first born of the Roberts was a libidinous woman. But Madison here, had almost turned red just from his little teasing.
She seemed a bit shy but feisty.
"Hey, Steve! Meet Amos, my boyfriend." Not knowing when they got there, Steve looked perplexed at Felicia who was holding hands with a tall, gruffy looking man who seemed to be a few years older himself.
Amos tried his possible best to avoid eye contact with Madison as he had been looking at Steve only, since he got there with Felicia who he couldn't resist.
"Nice meeting you, Steve." He said, clearing his throat and mistakenly turning right, where he exchanged eye contact Madison who had stared right back at him, while he looked away quickly.
For he was still filled with shame of what he had done many weeks ago.
"He's the C.E.O of Barney Vehicles." Felicia continued. "And if you don't mind, I could help secure you a security guard job at his company." She smiled sweetly at Steve.
Madison couldn't believe her sister right now. She really hoped Steve wouldn't feel too insulted.
"Don't listen to Felicia, She's sick in the head." Madison said, wondering why she would be the one always cleaning Felicia's mess every damn time.
"I'm in no way provoked, Madison." He said, making her more perplexed at how cool he was with Felicia's words.
She knew people didn't like being told the truth. Especially, when the manner of approach was zero and full of insolence. But he looked like he really cared less.
"I would rather remain the idler that I am." Steve retorted, stretching his lips into a smile.
Felicia bit on her bottom lip, embarrassment etched all over her face as she dragged Amos out, with her.

Mr Lawrence Robert had delayed coming to the wedding for he had a meeting that exact day with some important clients.
When he had gotten to the venue of the wedding, his wife had rushed to him, asking him to quickly get over to where Madison was and walk her down the aisle.
As they walked down the aisle, Madison felt so nervous. She had always imagined this moment. But now that it had come, she felt indifferent about it. And she kept having negative thoughts of tripping and rolling over the ground.
God!, She shouldn't be imagining this evil thoughts at this time.
When they had reached the front of the hall, her adoptive father handed her over to Steve, who stood still with a face void of expression.
Then the priest wrapped up the ceremony. And it was all wining and dining, there after.

They arrived at the reception hall. Already, some invitees had already gone there waiting for the couple to arrive.
Madison didn't seem to be in the mood. Diverse people had walked up to her, wishing her happy married life and she ended up forcing herself to smile placidly.
She watched Steve shake hands with some of the guests before walking up to her with a smile.
"We should change into our reception outfit, don't you think so?" She asked him.
"Uh, the only problem is that I've got nothing good as this to wear." He said, using his suit as reference.
"Then I'd just go and change into mine." Madison retorted and left for the dressing room where the brides-maids that she never liked but were all close friends of her adoptive family, helped her change into a wine red, sleeveless silk gown that went past her knees but then had a long slit which went up her left thigh.
"You look too good for that man." One of the bride's maid said thoughtlessly, making Madison to turn and shoot her a glare.
"Then I'd advise you to shut your lousy mouth up or get out of here."
"Feisty much? You don't look it though. But calm the f**k down."
Clenching her teeth, Madison grabbed her clutch and walked out of the room to avoid creating a scene on her wedding day.
Steve was sitted on the royal couch reserved for them. She observed that he didn't spare people much attention and barely noticed the ladies that went to have a closer look of what her husband looked like.
Madison didn't know why but she secretly enjoyed how he paid only her attention.
She joined him on the couch and soon it was time for their dance. Space was created in the large hall for them to have the floor and soft music began playing in the background.
Madison never prepared one day for this dance with Steve. And she wasn't much of a classical dancer.
"Don't Make Your Flaws Too Obvious. "
She heard a voice behind her and without turning she knew who it was that made that statement.
"What do you mean by that?" They walked towards the center and faced each other, hands joined together as Steve slipped his right hand around her waist, bringing her impossibly closer.
"Your face literally tells everyone that you aren't ready for this. That you can't do this and might flop."
They moved forward together, then a step backward, dancing gently to the song as Madison tried not to step on his shoes.
"Well, maybe that's the case."
Steve drew back, still holding her hand as she spun around and landed in his arms, almost breatheless.
A dark chuckle escaped his lips as he leaned towards her and spoke into her ears.
"Do you trust me, now?"
