Abraham had done everything Zara had asked of him. He still felt nervous about it even after discussing it with is parents. His mother made it clear he was to help her in whatever way needed. It was his duty as king to make sure that injustices were corrected and made right. His mother was an advocate for fated mates and for being able to have choices. The fact that if she chose to not mate her fathers choice for her meant her death had bothered his mother. No one should be forced, in her opinion it was something he must do. Even his father agreed with his mother. Abraham felt like he was backed into a corner he could not get out from. He reluctanlty set up the part of the planning he was involved in and left the rest up to Zara. His wolf was growing more agitated as the day she would arrive grew closer, and Abraham felt the need to shift and run to clear his mind. He would spend hours running through the forest and perching on top of the cliffs at the edges of his territory. His wolf needed the freedom it provided him to feel the wind rushing through his fur. It was like uncaging an animal. His needed to feel the ground beneath his paws.
Abraham was in the back of his own mind giving control to his wolf as he raced through the forest stopping only to watch as the sun began to sink in the sky. He knew he needed to get back to the palace soon. She would be arrving any minute and as the king he knew it was his responsibility to meet any new people in his territory. He was dreading the entire thing. Zara would meet with her first and bring her in under the cover of night. His wolf was anxious to get back. why so anxious to meet her? You have never been one to act like this.
His wolf had begun to sprint all the way back to the palace pushing harder with a new need to be there. It was something that Abraham wasn't used too. need to meet her. He could feel a new emotion in his wolf he had never felt before. There was a new need inside of him. He stopped on the edge of the woods before his palace shifting back into human form. He quickly threew some clothes on and walked back to the palace to shower, his wolf still nervously pacing in his mind. "Dear Moon Goddess this is going to be a long night." He let the steaming hot water cascade down his body washing away his day. His muscles were tense and his mind needed to be released from the doubts. He still wasn't sure if what he was doing was the right thing. Maybe getting her here then helping her live like a human would be best for his kingdom. There were so many thoughts running through him and his wolf was growing angry at him. Climbing out of the shower and drying off he had come to the decision that he couldn't just let some poor girl live on her own amongst the humans. He needed to do the right thing no matter the consequences. What kind of person would he be if he sent her off to fend for herself with no protection? "Great, I just guilted myself into helping her." He let out a sigh and got dressed quickly. He wanted to finish paperwork before the new member of his kingdom came. He knew there would be no formal announcement for her to join them. This was to be kept a secret. Her existence would be kept from most of the wolves and Lycans. It made him feel uncomfortable but given the nature of who her father was it made him feel slightly safer. Zara came walking into his office as he stared out the window overlooking the territory. The woods at night had always called to him and beckoned him there. It was deep seeded into his soul. "I thought you needed to meet our new member? Shouldn't you be there right now?"
There was a new scent in the air that wafted through his office. It was the most mesmerizing scent he had ever smelled. His wolf had perked up. He was now howling in his head and Abraham turned suddenly in the direction his sister came in. There before him was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her long brown hair cascaded down her back in wavy curls and her eyes were a brilliant hazel, switching between green and brown. He could not take his eyes off of her as his wolf growled out to her. "MATE" everyone in the room stood still. No one said a word. Abraham came from around his desk walking briskly to the woman standing before him. "MATE" He said again. This time taking her hand in his. Zara didn't move. She herself knewbetter than to get in the way of a shifter finding their mate. She stepped back away from the woman looking between her and Abraham.
"Abe?" she was feeling dizzy as she took in the scene unfolding before her. This just made things a little more complicated. Nothing was goign as planned. "This isn't good Abe. If you are mated to Alana then this makes it harder to hide her. Alana?" Zara looked at Alana realising she had not taken her eyes of of Abraham either. They were entranced with each other.
Abraham shook his head bringing himself to reality. He motioned for them all to come into his office and then closed the door behind him. Life was never simple. He had finally met his mate adn she was a runaway princess. A princess running from certain death. His heart was aching and his wolf was howling inm his head. She is our mate! We will protect her! His wolf was relentless. His head was pounding as he kept chanting it out to him. Abraham was growing tired. He moved closer to Alana feeling a need to be close to her. He knew it was the only way to calm his wolf down. He sat down next to her holding his hand out praying she would accept it. In that moment he needed her to accept it. He watched as she placed her hand in his and closed his eyes as he felt the tingles rush up his arm. It was like a drug and his mind fell into a haze at just the mere touch of her hand mixed with her intoxicating scent. He knew he was never going to be the same. He had waited for far too long to let her go. "My name is Abraham. Abe for short. You can call me Abe. I don't think you know how long I have waited for my fated mate." He lowered his head looking at their hands that remained connected.
"I am not sure you should call me by my name. If my father were to find out I am here your kingdom would be in danger. No one would be safe from him or his minions. I can't be the one to put so many people in danger." He watched as she looked away. Zara stepped foward. "Zara, I don't think it is safe for anyone if I stay here in your territory. I never should have asked you to take such a big risk. I should go." She slipper her hand from his and stood up from beside Abraham. She felt an ache in her heart as she made her way towards the door.
"Wait," zara was behind her in an instant. She grabbed Alana by the hand pulling her back from the door. "If any one can protect you I know one hundre percent it is my brother. There is no one who would fight harder to keep you safe than Abe. Please, think about staying. In case you chose not to though, we still need to go over your new identity. You need to know who you are becoming."
The thought of being someone other than herself slammed into her like a head on collision. She wasn't sure why it never did before now. Here she was before her mate having to change her name and life to be someone else she didn't even know. She herself was becoming someone she didn't know. She caught a glimpse of her hair in the window as the office light cast her reflection on it. "I don't even know who I am anymore. Even the color of my hair is different. How ma I supposed to find my mate when I don't even know who I am anymore? Not even my name?" The reality of the situation brought the entire room to silence. It was as if they were in a silent mmovie and no one knew what to do. Zara looked apologetically at her friend.
"I know this is a lot, this is overwhelming." Zara took a deep breath in and closed her eyes not letting go of her friend. "You are an amazing person. One of the kindest hearts i have ever known. You saved my life and now I have a chance to save yours. You came to my rescue when you didn't have too and when I was a stranger and yet again when Michael would have killed us all. You may not be Princess Alana anymore but you are someone special. You are my family. Don't give up now when you have just found everything you have been fighting so hard to have. If you give up then you are letting your father win. If you let him win, then why even bother running? you might as well go back and be the slave he wants you to be. It's your choice."
