Everthing inside her wanted to say yes to accepting her mate. Her mind was telling her to run and never look back, that she only brought them danger and possibly war. She looked between everyone seeing the agony on Abrahams face. She wanted to put him out of his misery and just give in to what she had always dreamed of. All her life all she ever wanted was to find her mate and be happy together. This was what she was running for. She looked nervously between Abraham and Zara. She let out a laugh of frustration. " Finding my mate was everything I ever wanted and now look at me? My entire life is falling apart and I have found him. This feels like a very cruel joke. I need to lay down. This is all very overhwelming to me. I can't make any decisions like this. Not yet. I'm sorry. I just do not know who I am anymore." Alana looked down as the sad realization washed over her like a waterfall. She had to hide who she was and change everything about her. She wasn't sure what that meant for her future anymore.
"I completely understand. We should get you to your room. Abraham, is the space set up here in the palace for right now?" He looked at his sister unsure of what she meant. She had told him to set up a private home for her near water and he had done just that. She smiled at him and cut him off before he could question her. " The spare room in the royal sweet like I asked you to do? Please tell me you had it set up for her?" He could see the sparkle in his sisters eyes. He knew she was up to something but he did not question it. He knew his sister and knew she always fought for thise she loved.
Still curious at the game she was playing he shook his head. "Yes of course. I'm sorry, It's just been a long day and night. Please, Zara take her to the suite. I will be up in a moment." He watched as they began to make their way to the door. He was feeling a loss he could not put into words. It wasn't how he wanted meeting his mate to go. He had always dreamt it would be nagical. This was anything but magical.
"Come on Alana. Lets get you set up in the spare room and get you your new name ok?" She nodded towards Abraham as they walked out the door leaving him standing there with Leif by his side. He placed his hand on Abrahams shoulder trying to show him support.
"I think I need a very stiff drink." Leif just grunted at his response. "I finally meet my mate and she might reject me. How cruel is this?"
Leif slowly made his way to the bottle he knew was hidden in Abrahams desk. Pulling out two glasses he filled them up and handed one to Abraham. Taking a sip he sat in the chair usually left for the King. "My friend I think she will need some convincing that you can keep her safe. She has been through a big ordeal. She trusts your sister because she knew her before all of this happened. Now she is afraid of her father and what he will do. She is a strong woman. She is in crisis mode. Just show her you can be what she needs and give her time. In my experience, it isn't easy, but it is definitely worth it." He took a gulp of the liquid allowing it to glide down his throat. looking back up at Abraham to gage his mood. "Your sister just bought you time. Time you can spend with her and convince her to chose you. She is up in your suite right now, but you are here with me." Abraham watched as Leif leaned back in the chair and placed his feet on the desk. He knew Leif was right. Alana had just gone through A life changing event and was now shedding her old life and becoming someone new, someone she did not even know anymore. He was hoping with time she would chose him.
"Leif you and my sister are a genius." He set the glass down on his desk and made his way to the door. Before he walked out he turned back to Leif. "Oh and Leif?"
"Yes?"
"Get your feet off my desk." Leif brought his feet down and drank the rest of the liquid in the glass placing it down and heading out behind him laughing. He knew Abraham was a stickler for a clean and tidy office. Leif patted him on the shoulder as they parted ways. Abraham making his way to his suite. He was hoping that she would give them a chance. He had waited for so long. He would fight with every fiber of his being to get her to see this was the right decision. They were the right decision. When Abraham made his way into his suite he paused when he saw there standing there in his kitchen. She looked at him for a breif moment before looking away. he smiled at her. She was the most beautiful person he had ever seen."Can I make you something to eat?"
She looked up at him surprised. A quizical look crossing her features. "You can cook?"
A smile played across his lips. He was taking in any bit of conversation she would have with him. It wasn't mumch but he loved how her voice swept over his body. "I can indeed cook. My mom insisted on it. How about I make us some dinner and you tell me more about you."
She seemed to retreat into her thoughts when he spoke to her. Her mind drifted to so many times she prayed to the moon goddess to give her a mate. Here he was standing there in front of her and she was fighting a war inside herself. "Is it ok if I get cleaned up before dinner? It has been a long few days and A shower sounds really nice. Then maybe we can talk over dinner?"
She watched the spark come back into his eyes when she promised to talk with him over dinner. It was a small promise that gave him hope. She didn't want to hurt him. She just wanted to figure out who she was going to be. He gave her a smile that melted her heart. He was handsome and she could feel the pull towards him. Their mate bond was stronger than she had anticipated. She quickly made her way up to the guest bathroom to shower and wash away the last few days.
Abraham made quick work getting the ingredients together to make her a salmon and pasta dish with a creamy dill sauce. It was a dish his mother taught him to make growing up. She wanted them to be able to support ourselves if we ever needed it. He was never more grateful to have learned to cook then in this moment. It gave him aa way to reach out to his mate. He was hoping to build a better connection with her. He wanted her to learn she could trust him. He knew food was a great way of getting someone to bring down their guard. He knew she had bullt many walls to protect herself. He wasn't sure how to blast through the walls yet but he would try anything to help remove them one brick at a time. He was plating the food when she made her way down the stairs taking his breath away. Everything about her made his body ignote with fire. There was a need inside him to run to her and hold her in his arms, but he knew, he needed to control himself and his wolf. He didn't want to scare her away. HE needed her to trust him and ultimately trust in their future together. He took a deep breath in and made his way to the table placing a plate down for the both of them and gesturing for her to sit. "I hope you like it. My mother taught us the recipe when we were kids. I figured you probably eat light. I wasn't sure what you ate in terms of meat. I have actually never met a siren before you. If this isn't something you eat please let me know. I would be happy to make something else for you."
She smiled giving in to the feelings of immense pleasure with his presence. The war she fought inside her was not calming down any time soon. "I love salmon. I eat meat. All kinds of meat. I am not sure what kind of animals you have here on Earth but in Ithica it is very common for sirens to eat meat. This looks delicious." They sat there for a moment in an uncomfortable silence. he could tell she wanted to say something but held herself back. He watched her take a few bites of her food and her face melted in pleasure with each bite. "This has to be the best dish I have ever tasted. It's perfect."
There was an unspoken tension between them and he had finally just wanted her to speak to him. He would take anything. "tell me whats on your mind. You can be honest with me. Ic an handle it." He wasn't sure he really could handle it if she was about to reject him, but he knew it was her choice and he would have to let her make the choice for herself. He knew he couldn't try and make the choice for her. He sat there with his heart pounding threatening to beat out of his chest as he waited for her to reply.
