*Jessa's pov* Alec had gone to make some phone calls, he didn't get into details about what they were about, and I didn't bother to ask before Ashley had whisked me away to have some girl time with her and Clover. We sat in Ashley's room, she and Clover lounged on the bed and I sat on a plush chair. "So what does it feel like to find your mate?" Clover asked curiously. I had to take a second to think about the question. "At first I didn't understand what was happening, it was a bit terrifying but honestly, it was exciting," I answered the best that I could. "Did you... seal the deal so to speak?" Clover came back at me with another question. At this point, my face started to brighten. I shook my head, unable to form proper words. "Ew, Clover, that's my brother," Ashley said, making a face that could only be described as pure disgust. Clover began laughing like a hyena. It was an infectious laugh and before we all knew it we were laughing along with her. "Jessa's a virgin Clove" Ashley announced my face red again. It wasn't that I was ashamed of being a virgin, I just didn't know how Alec would take the news when he found out. "Ashley you have to help me, I don't know the first thing about being mated to an alpha, let alone having s*x with one." I exasperatedly said. " Well, I can sort of help you with your duties. Being an alpha's daughter I learned from my mom what the duties and responsibilities of the Luna are" she said encouragingly.'' As for mating an alpha, I wouldn't know either. I know my brother and he won't hurt you if that's what you're worried about" she added I was feeling a little relieved to have Ashley to help me navigate certain aspects of my new found relationship. This was all new territory for me and I didn't want to embarrass Alec. Ashley told me that the Luna's job is to basically support the alpha. This included hosting parties, taking care of pack needs and making sure everything is running smoothly. I thought to myself I could do that. Alec seemed like a well-loved and respected Alpha, my only other worry was the pack accepting a non-wolf as their Luna. "Have you figured out what kind of fairy you are yet?" Clover asked to change the subject. "I haven't a clue, I'm going to call my father tonight and see if he will tell me," I said. "I've never seen a fairies hands glow white before" Ashley mused. She was right "usually fairies hands glow green, red or blue depending on where they are from" Clover added. That was the mystery, no one but my father, stepmother and stepbrother knew where I was from. "I've asked countless times but they refused to tell me until I found my mate and ascended," I said to Ashley and Clover. They both nodded in understanding. We spent the rest of the morning chatting, laughing and goofing off before Ashley suggested we head to the kitchen and grab something for lunch. "Mrs. Mackenzie makes the best lunches, she's the head omega" Ashley explained to me. We headed downstairs and found Nate, Mason and Clint lounging in the living room playing Halo on the Xbox. "Hey guys," Ashley said as we passed the living room as we headed to the kitchen. They seemed oblivious to our presence so we didn't disturb them. We made it to the kitchen and Mrs. Mackenzie had sandwiches in a giant stack on the table "Help yourselves girls before the boys realize there is food here and eat it all" she said in the most grandmotherly voice. We each grabbed a sandwich and dug in. "Mmmm" I moan Ashley wasn't kidding, Mrs. Mackenzie was a wiz with food. After we finished eating we joined the guys in the living room, Nick had also appeared and we all chatted away. All my worries were put on the back burner as I sat with my first real friends. ********************************************* *Alec's pov* I was waiting in my office for my father to arrive, Kenneth had joined me for the meeting as well, Nick opted to keep an eye on the packhouse instead which was fine with me. There was a brief knock on the door, then my father opened it and walked in. I stood to greet him, giving him a hug which he reciprocated in kind. "Will we be graced with your mate's presence?" he asked me after a brief hello. "Not during the meeting, I will introduce you after" I stated, my father Alric nodded curtly. We began discussing last night's events leading up to Jessa's ascension and discovering she was my mate. "So you were drawn to her?" dad asked clarifying. I nodded. "Jackie made an appearance, and I had to command her to leave too" I added, figuring he should know everything. "Well, I'm glad you're done with her son. I would have never let her become this pack's Luna" he said firmly I nodded in complete agreement. Jackie was the result of boredom and frustration, not love and devotion. She wasn't made for me like Jessa was, I thought to myself. There was another knock at the door. "Come in," I bellowed, a member of the council opened the door, adawning a black and white robe. "Hello gentleman, I am elder Curtis." he introduced himself and I motioned for him to take the visitor's seat beside my father. He obliged and quickly sat down getting straight to business. "So Alpha Alec, you say your new mate's hands glowed white when you discovered the mate bond with her?" Elder Curtis asked me. "Yes Sir. Only for a minute or two at midnight on her 18th birthday" I answered him. "That is certainly abnormal, and you say she doesn't know where she's from?" he continued. I shook my head no. "Jessa told me her father moved around a lot after her mother died" I stated. "Her stepbrother is a wolf here in the Black moon, and she came to stay with him, that's all I know," I added. "Alpha Alec, it is possible your mate is a winter fairy. But, not just any winter fairy" he added "I believe she is the last of a very powerful line of winter fairies. Legend states that the last of the female winter fairies that came from this line was murdered years ago and the line died with her." he went on to explain. I was very confused, "if Jessa was this powerful fairy how did she not know? '' I asked the elder. "Well, you said that her father moved around a lot. Maybe he was hiding her identity." the elder said. "Can I meet her?" He asked cautiously. I looked at him apprehensively, I didn't want to scare Jessa, but I also wanted to get to the truth. "I guess that would be okay," I said. My eyes glazed over as I mind linked Ashley to bring Jessa to my office. About five minutes later there was a light knock at the door. "Come on in Jessa," I said, the door opened and there was my beautiful little mate standing in the doorway. She took a few shaky steps into the office. I motioned for her to come to sit with me, she crossed the room and sat in my lap. Instantly I felt calmer. Just having her near me calmed my nerves and relaxed me. "Hello, Luna" elder Curtis said. "Hello," she whispered. "Let me introduce everyone. On the couch over there is my beta Kenneth, and the gentlemen in front of you are my father, Alric and a member of the pack's elder council." I said. Dad had been staring at Jessa since she walked in and I wanted to tell him to close his mouth. Clearly, elder Curtis was seeing the same thing as my father because both men hadn't taken their eyes off her since she sat in front of them. "Jessa, do you remember what your mother's name was?" elder Curtis asked politely. Jessa nodded "her name was Annalise, Annalise Walters" she answered " What was her name before marrying your father Jessa?" the elder asked immediately after. Jessa became silent, She looked at me and I nodded at her that it was okay. She took a deep breath and said "Annalise Alette" she said. Talking about her mother seemed painful, I hoped she'd be okay. The elder and my father looked at each other for a long time, like they were having a private conversation, their eyes looked normal so they weren't mind-linking. "Jessa, what is your father's name?" my father finally said, breaking the uncomfortable silence. "Archie Walters" she answered, again silence followed. "Does someone care to explain?" I asked, sounding more annoyed than I actually was. "Jessa, could you excuse us for a moment" elder Curtis asked. She nodded, I kissed her head and she got up off my lap and left the room. I was now beyond annoyed. "What is it?" I asked, almost demanding. "Alec..." my father started. His eyes filled with both proof and worry. The elder cleared his throat. "Alec, we have reason to believe that your mate is a direct descendent of the last known powerful winter fairy." he finished speaking and my mind was racing. "Son, protect her with your life. She is rare and special but also desired by evil if the legend is true" my father spoke. "Of course father, without a doubt, I would protect her with my life regardless of how rare she is" I answered and my father beamed with pride. "I raised you, right kid," He said. After another half hour, I said goodbye to Elder Curtis, my father walked him out and I sat behind my desk contemplating everything I just heard. Ken, who had been laying on the couch for the last portion of the meeting, bolted upright " you gonna tell her?" He asked me. I honestly didn't know. "Would you?" I asked him and he shrugged his shoulders. "Always a delight Ken," I said, rolling my eyes. "Think about it man, would you rather her find out from you or a stranger? Maybe her brother doesn't even know" he started making a very good point. Regardless, it wasn't my place to speculate. "I need to keep this quiet until we meet Jacob later," I said. Ken nodded, I knew he wouldn't say anything. I had been cooped up all afternoon. I missed Jessa and she still wanted me to meet her brother. I decided to go change and find my mate. I'd meet her brother and hopefully, he'd have some answers regarding Jessa and the likelihood of her being this powerful and sought-after winter fairy.
