Chapter 5

*Alec's pov* I had woken up early, as I normally would to head to training. I gave myself the day off though. I had just found Jessa, I wanted to spend some quality time with her today and get to know my future Luna better. She looked even smaller when she slept if that was even possible. Her tiny body was curled up into a ball beside mine. The t-shirt she was wearing was now my favourite and I planned to never wash her scent from it ever. I began to replay last night in my head. One thing that stood out to me was that when Jessa ascended, her hands glowed a light white colour. I needed to talk to my dad and the elders about what happened, I needed to know what type of fairy she was. First though, I needed to go over everything with Nick and Ken. "Morning fellas," I said through a mind link. "What's up Al" Nick moaned "What time is it Al, go away" I heard Ken mumble "Meet me in my office in 10 minutes," I said, cutting off the mind link before they could continue to moan and whine about being woken up early. As much as I didn't want to leave Jessa, I needed to talk to the guys about last night. I gently removed my arm from around her and gave a light peck on the top of her head. I made sure to cover her completely with the blanket so she'd stay warm in my absence. I left the room and crossed the hall to my office taking my seat behind my desk. Not long after Nick and Ken stumbled into the room. Nick looked at least somewhat awake, a little dishevelled but no worse than usual. Ken, on the other hand, looked like a truck had run him over. I sort of felt bad for calling them in so early, but I needed to know everything I could about what kind of fairy Jessa was, I was pretty sure she didn't even know yet. "What's up man I was sleeping" Ken started, I suddenly didn't feel so bad about dragging his ass out of bed. "Well, Nick already knows but since you disappeared last night. I found my mate." I announced proudly. "That's great Al, who's the lucky girl?" Ken asked me. "Jessa," Nick interrupted. "You mean that cute fairy girl Ashley hangs out with?" Ken asked. Ajax growled, Ken meant no harm but Ajax hated someone else referring to her as cute. Wolves were extremely protective of our mates. "Yes, Jessa is my mate. We were dancing last night when she ascended, yes she is a fairy but I've never seen a fairy's hands glow white before" I said explaining my confusion. "I'm planning on calling my father and the elders later to see if they have any ideas on what type of fairy she actually is." I went on. Ken and Nick both nodded in agreement. We chatted a while longer before deciding I needed to get back to Jessa. We left my office, Ken and Nick headed towards the stairs while I crossed the hall and opened the door. There she was sitting up in the middle of my king-sized bed, wearing nothing but my t-shirt and her undergarments. "Good morning beautiful, have you been awake long?" I asked, walking into the room and closing the door behind me. "Not too long," Jessa answered. I crossed the watermelon scented room quickly. I need to have her close to me. "Any plans today?" she asked me innocently. I shrugged my shoulders. "I have to make a few phone calls later this morning, otherwise I'm all yours" I answered her sitting on the edge of the bed. Jessa crawled over from the middle of the bed and laid her head in my lap. Ajax pranced around in my head, he loved having Jessa touching us, about as much as I did. I wanted to mate her, mark her and officially claim her as mine, but I knew she was not ready yet, especially not with what I was into. No, I'd let Jessa set the pace and when she was ready I would unleash my inner beast and have her screaming my name. "Alpha Alec?" Jessa started before I cut her off. "It's just Alec to you my sweet pea," I said, she nodded, understanding what I was trying to say. "Alec, would you like to meet my brother later?" she asked me to sit up and look me in the eye. "Anything for you Jessa" I answered, pulling her face closer to mine. We were inches apart, I could feel her breath on my face, her watermelon scent filled my nose, I closed my eyes, I was fighting an internal battle. I wanted her, I wanted to taste her, but I didn't want to scare her away. Suddenly I felt the soft touch on my lips, but in a split second, they were gone again. Jessa had kissed me, and her lips were the softest thing in creation. I opened my eyes, Jessa was looking at me, her face flushed red. "I'm sorry" she whispered. I grabbed her body and pulled her closer to me whispering in her ear "don't ever apologize." She nodded, the red had started leaving her peach skin. As I held her, I began stroking her blonde curls, every time I made contact with her I could feel the spark of the mate bond and it was electrifying. We stayed like this for a while before someone knocked on my bedroom door. I sighed loudly "who is it?" I asked "Ashley!" came the voice behind the door and I knew that my time alone with my mate was coming to an end. "One minute Ash," I said, letting go of my hold on Jessa. We climbed back under the covers. "Come in Ash," I said, the door creaked open, and my younger sister strolled in. "Good morning you two," she said, crossing the bedroom and taking a seat in my sitting area, making herself right at home. "Morning Ashley" Jessa replied to her brightly, I mumbled an incoherent hello. "What are your guy's plans for the day, am I allowed to steal Jessa back yet Alec? Ashley asked. "Yes, I have some phone calls I need to make in a bit, then Jessa wanted me to meet her brother" I spoke, grabbing hold of Jessa's hand lovingly, I began to stroke her thumb with mine. This seemed to appease her, "Great, come find me soon Jessa" and with that, she stood up and left the room quietly closing the door behind her. I groaned, which made Jessa giggle. " I love her to pieces, but there are days..." I trailed off shaking my head. We sat in bed for a little while longer, just talking. I had been curious about Jessa, and how she didn't seem to already know what type of fairy she was and how she came to live with her brother in Black Moon, not to mention where her parents were. "We moved around a lot when I was a kid after my mom died" she started " Dad met Jacob's mom, a rogue wolf at the time and they fell in love. I guess she's still technically a rogue, but they're happy together. She's his second chance." Jessa explained. I nodded along with her story. Jessa was a mystery even to herself. "I'm sorry about your mom Jessa," I said after she finished. She nodded, tears forming in her eyes. I lightly wiped a stray one that had already fallen and was running down her cheek. A small smile crossed her lips. "Have you really been searching for your ma.. for me for five years?" she asked me. "Yes, but I began to get frustrated, that's why Jackie happened." I began explaining to her. After a while, Jessa and I got out of bed. Ashley wanted to hang out with her friend and I needed to call my father. I had linked Ashley to bring Jessa some clothing to wear, I absolutely didn't want her walking around in just my t-shirt. Moments later Ashley appeared, with a pair of skinny jeans and a t-shirt. I excused myself briefly from the bedroom stepping out into the hallway, allowing Jessa to change in peace. Once she had finished, she came out of my bedroom, looking lovely. She could wear a paper bag and she'd still be the most beautiful woman in existence. Ashley was standing beside me and it looked like she was ready to pounce on Jessa. I gave my mate a quick peck on the top of her head, breathing her in before Ashley snatched her away walking down the hall to her room. I went back to my office and locked the door, I didn't want to be disturbed right now. I pulled my phone out and quickly dialled my father's number. It didn't take long for him to answer. "Good morning Alec, what do I owe the pleasure of this early morning call". my father asked " Dad, what do you know about fairies?" I asked bluntly, getting right to the point. "Why?" he replied. I took a deep breath before going into my reasoning for the call. "I found my mate, dad she's a fairy. She ascended yesterday and when she did her hands glowed white, I've never heard of it before" I stated. "Wait, did you say white?" dad asked I guess I piqued his interest "Yes, Jessa. Her hands started to glow white briefly at midnight." I answered Dad was silent for a long time before he finally spoke. "Alec, I believe your mate is a winter fairy. But that's not possible. The last female winter fairy was killed years ago." Dad explained. This got me thinking about what Jessa said about her mom. "Dad, Jessa said her mom died when she was a kid" I mentioned. Again, he went silent for a few moments. "Call the elders, I'm heading up there. If your mate really is a winter fairy then she's rare and in serious danger." he said, disconnecting the call. I sat in silence thinking about the last thing he said. If Jessa really is a winter fairy she didn't know. Maybe that's why her father moved around so much, to keep her safe. I made my second call to the Elder council. I explained that I believed my mate was a winter fairy and we needed someone to come and confirm the suspicions. They said they were sending someone out. I hung up and went back to pondering about the dangers my mate could be in. I knew nothing about winter fairies, they were believed to be extinct. I would hopefully have answers later today, and what the council didn't know I was hoping Jessa's step brother Jacob did.
