Chapter - 7

Grace - POV Alpha Grayson and Alpha Jacob stood up and blocked my way as I tried to leave the dining hall. I felt overwhelmed with two alphas standing so close to me. Others watched, taken aback, not knowing what was going on. Alpha Jacob, usually stoic, was glaring at Alpha Grayson, who was holding my hand. Emily climbed out of her chair and dragged Jacob to the dining room table, looking tenderly at Alpha Grayson. Her expression showed she desired power and was willing to go to any length to obtain it. "What are you doing? Let that slut go, please," Emily retorted. "Emily, shut the f**k up," Alpha Jacob growled. "Why are you acting like this, Jacob? What do you like about that w***e?" Emily inquired. "You'd better close your trap, or you'll know who I am," Alpha Jacob responded dominantly. Emily closed her mouth, but her rage reverberated back to me. I could also see Beta Roger's anger in his eyes. Jacob and Grayson were both vying for dominance, their gazes fixed on each other and me. My hand was still in Grayson's grip, the air around me becoming stifling. "Grayson, I thought you were taking me out for breakfast. I heard you were here," a female voice said. I looked at the stunning figure with a perfect hourglass shape. She was taken aback by Grayson holding my hand. As soon as Grayson saw her, his gaze shifted, and my hand slipped from his grasp. Alpha Grayson approached her and led her out of the dining room. I noticed Jacob's smug expression as Grayson walked away. Seeing an opportunity to leave the dining room, I moved when Emily held Alpha Jacob to take a seat at the breakfast table. Unfortunately, my body felt as though it had re-entered pain mode. I couldn't understand why I felt this way. The only thing I could rely on was myself and my ability to survive. Even as I approached the car to pick up supplies for the packhouse, I was still in excruciating agony. While driving, I thought I could live happily ever after with Alpha Grayson as my mate, knowing he would love and care for me, but it seemed he already had someone in his life. Tears welled up in my eyes, and I wished my parents were here to console me. No one wants me, and I'm pretty sure I'll be on my own for a long time. It wasn't until I remembered Hailey and Rosie that I calmed down, knowing I wasn't alone and had my best friends by my side. I walked to the supermarket to stock the cart, and Hailey's name popped up on my old phone. "Are you okay, Grace?" Hailey inquired. "I heard something happened in the dining room. Emily had a hissy fit and ended up waiting for you to come back so she could strike you. Please arrive as late as possible. She'll get tired of waiting for you." Hailey got off the phone before I could respond. As I walked around the market, I saw couples strolling hand-in-hand, imagining how wonderful it must be to be loved. I came across a banner for a clairvoyant shop and wondered if a clairvoyant could help with my love life or future. I figured it would be good to spend my saved money there. A calming and reassuring surge of energy washed over me. In the dim light, a stunning woman with dark hair and tanned skin sat across from me. "Please take a seat," she said, her dark brown eyes twinkling. I took the seat directly across from her. "What do you want to know about?" she inquired softly. "Are you a witch?" I asked. Her gaze was unblinking, her shoulders stiffened. "Yes, I am. So, you are a shifter," she replied.I nod. "What will my future be like?" I asked immediately. "The price card is shown below," she indicated. I checked if I had enough money to cover her fee. Smiling internally, I handed her the cash. She asked me to take her hand in mine. "Interestingly, you have two lovers, but there will be many deaths and troubles for you. You will constantly fight with your enemies and your partners," she continued. Her words left me in a less than happy frame of mind. "Thank you for your prediction," I said dejectedly as I walked out. It felt like a waste of resources and time. I should have splurged on fine dining instead. Alas, I am just a naive young woman trying to make sense of the world.
