Grace - POV
When I finally arrived at the pack house after shopping, a noise came from afar, and I assumed that pack members had gathered in the field to welcome Alpha Jacob. However, the pack house was deserted. Then, I noticed a figure lying on the ground, unconscious. As I approached, I saw it was Hailey, and her pulse had decreased. I rushed Hailey to the hospital as soon as she groaned in pain. Unfortunately, the pack house doctor refused to treat her, and the staff threw us out of the infirmary like trash.
Hailey's agonizing moans became more frequent; I couldn't figure out what was going on and tried to mind-link. "Come to the hospital, Rosie. Hailey has been badly hurt."
Hailey gritted her teeth from the pain she was feeling. The marks on her body indicated that the circumstances surrounding her injuries were severe.
Cindy, my wolf, appeared. "Grace, don't be alarmed; I can assist you. Extend your hand, and I'll use magic to take control over you."
Cindy took control of me as soon as I let her. My hand was covered in a blue glow and placed on Hailey's chest. Hailey's pale face and pained grunts slowly faded as I heard hurried footsteps approaching. When I smelled the figure running towards me, I knew it was Rosie.
"How is Hailey doing?" Rosie asked as she ran towards me. Her lips trembled, and her face turned bright red. "Why are you in the middle of the forest instead of an infirmary?"
"I'm Cindy, Grace's wolf, and I'm attempting to stabilize and heal Hailey's wounds. The infirmary was unwilling to treat her," Cindy stated calmly. Rosie was a little scared.
I could see Hailey's heartbeat slowly stabilizing as I noticed the blue glow and the magic dancing around her. Rosie's eyes began to sparkle with awe as she witnessed the magic. Thanks to Cindy, I'd regained control of the situation, and Rosie was utterly taken aback. As I lifted Hailey off the muddy ground, Rosie assisted me in carrying her back to the apartment to rest.
"How did you do that?" Rosie inquired. "Wolves aren't usually skilled with magic, but you heal like a pro."
"Cindy had the foresight to take control of a situation I was completely unaware of. Seeing Cindy do magic even shocked me," I replied.
As we made our way back to the apartment, we helped Hailey change into fresh clothes and put her on her bed. "Do you know what happened to Hailey?" I asked Rosie as I walked to the closet. I changed into my nightgown and returned to the room to get ready for bed.
"I was tasked with cleaning Alpha Jacob's condo. I hadn't spent the entire day in the packhouse," Rosie stated. "I'm not sure what we would have done if you hadn't been there." Rosie looked up at the ceiling.
"You better believe I will make that Emily b***h suffer, no matter if it's Emily or Lily behind this whole thing," I said in exasperation.
Rosie's gaze was fixed on me as she lay in bed. "It's the first time I've heard you being abusive or angry. I've never seen you agitated before," Rosie stated.
My annoyance grew as I exclaimed, "How am I supposed to be calm and collected in this situation when these bitches hurt us every day for making minor mistakes?"
"You are correct, those bitches are the worst. I will not spare them for inflicting harm on our Hailey," Rosie said with the same rage as mine.
As soon as I heard a knock at the door, I went to open it and found Alpha Jacob standing there.
My voice trembled as I asked, "Alpha Jacob, what has brought you here?"
"Why do you look scared?" Alpha Jacob inquired. After swallowing, I wondered how to speak to him. When she heard him, Rosie was also squirming in her bed.
