Chapter - 3

Grace -POV

Hailey and I were afraid of working at the Packhouse right now as we prepared to sleep tonight. We knew that if Alpha Jacob were here and we made a mistake in our work, we would die young virgins without a mate. Rosie planned to stay at Derrick’s Place because Derrick wanted to spend time with her.

“Grace, are you paying attention to me?” Hailey called out as she wished me, “Happy birthday, Grace!” Hailey brought a sweet cupcake for me to enjoy during the celebration.

In a daze, I burst out, “You remembered my birthday.”

“How could I possibly forget my best friend’s and my sister’s birthday?” Hailey replied, smiling happily at me. I had completely forgotten that Alpha Jacob, the Monster Alpha, was in the Packhouse because he kills people without mercy.

“Grace, please blow out the candles on the cupcake,” Hailey said. So, I divided the cupcake into two pieces and shared it with Hailey and myself.

When I awoke the following day, Hailey was still sleeping. I showered to clean myself. After getting out of the shower, I still had marks from Lilly’s beating on my arms and back. I applied medicine to the scars. As I reached for the old wooden wardrobe, a strange noise woke Hailey.

Hailey groaned in disgust, “Wait... is it already morning?” as she gradually made her way to the bathroom.

I took out the clothes I would wear today: faded blue jeans and a white t-shirt that would help conceal my arm scars.

Since I had tied my hair up in a ponytail, it wasn’t surprising to see my red hair looking unkempt today. To conceal my dark circles, I used makeup to disguise my hazel eyes so they didn’t stand out. To further enhance my fair skin, I applied a thin layer of nude lip color to give my lips a brighter complexion.

“Hailey, hurry up! You don’t have another twenty minutes in the shower,” I yelled at her while putting on my sneakers.

“I’ll be out in five minutes. You go on ahead,” Hailey responded. While I admit, I was resentful that Hailey overslept every day, leaving me to run errands for her.

It didn’t take long to walk into the kitchen. I checked the Packhouse refrigerator after putting on my apron and went to get some eggs to make breakfast for Hailey and myself because we had a long day ahead. Some leftovers from the party would be available for us later.

The one thing that would make this party better was the gourmet food forbidden to the servants, which I had been looking forward to. However, we usually get gourmet leftovers from parties at the Packhouse, so it was something I anticipated.

Suddenly, I noticed footsteps behind me and thought it might have been Hailey. However, the sound of the footsteps was heavy, so I doubted it was her.

A strong, sweet, and sharp scent immediately drew my attention. Cindy, my wolf, jumped to the surface. As soon as my mate’s scent reached my nostrils, Cindy sighed in delight.

When I turned to face my mate, I saw a tall, well-built man with a handsome appearance standing in front of me. His brown hair was unkempt, but his round, dark onyx eyes were unforgettable. I could see his chiseled jawline as he drew closer and closed the gap between us.

In a moment, he seemed to shift his gaze toward me and caressed the sides of my cheeks as if sensing the bond between us. I felt as though he sensed the warmth filling my heart as he stroked my cheek with his fingers.

A wave of anxiety passed through me as his evil smile descended. “So, what should I do with you, sweet little Luna? Would you like to be part of my pack, or are you more interested in being a plaything?”

“Wait, Luna? What are you talking about?” I replied.

“Alpha Jacob is at your service, my Luna. Some also refer to me as the Monster Alpha,” he replied with a small snort. This my first time seeing Aloha Jacob face to face. I never saw him.

My mind was completely blank as to why Goddess Selene was torturing me in this manner. My sole desire from the moon goddess was to have a mate, not a monster.

Aloha Jacob’s cold eyes stared at me as his hands grasped my throat. “Tell me your full name,” he demanded. My voice trembled as I answered, “Grace Caddel.”

“Jacob Green, the Alpha of the Red Moon pack, rejects Grace Caddel as Luna,” Alpha Jacob said with a scream. The pain was unbearable, and Cindy’s wolf was filled with anguish from the rejection.

Towards the end of the conversation, Alpha Jacob spoke gravely as he tightened his grip around my throat: “You need to accept my rejection at this moment.”

When Alpha Jacob let go of me, I slumped to the ground, gasping for air. Finally, I said in a low voice, “I can’t accept this rejection.”

Growing angry, Alpha Jacob glared at me. He kissed my cheek and said, “Well, welcome to hell, Grace. There will be more difficulties for you, but I have to admit I’m looking forward to it.” He then left for the training grounds.

As I lay on the ground, tears streamed down my face. I realized that I should have accepted Monster Alpha Jacob’s rejection. It would have been painful at first, but I would have been free from the shackles that bound me. Instead, I mentally yelled, “f*****g i***t, Grace!”

Hailey came down and looked scared to see me like this. “What happened to you?” she asked as I wept.

“Hailey, my mate rejected me; he’s the Monster Alpha Jacob,” I sobbed in reply. Hailey gasped in surprise, her face filled with shock and utter terror.

“Have you accepted his rejection?” Hailey asked. As she helped me to my room, I replied, “I haven’t accepted the rejection from him at all.”

“Surely, you must be crazy, Grace. You know that the rejection might have hurt at first, but you would have been free from mate bond.So, why didn’t you do it?” Hailey snapped in anger.

As I lay in bed in pain, I wept until I fell asleep. The pain lessened as the evening progressed, and my body felt better. It appeared that Hailey had taken good care of me. However, it seemed the party banquet was just about to start. To get ready, I refreshed my makeup and made my way to the party to do the work.
