Grace – POV
“I am exhausted from work, not scared,” I explained, a convincing smile on my face. It wasn’t worth telling Alpha what had happened because it could lead to further harassment from Beta and his family. So, instead of telling Alpha Jacob what had happened, I remained silent. He gazed at me. My friends needed to be protected, and as a result, I was reluctant to say anything.
“If that’s the case, then I’ll let you off the hook. Who cares about you, anyway? I’m here to take you to the office right now because of an urgent matter.” I stared at him, perplexed as to why he wanted me to accompany him to the office.
“I wonder if you’ll continue to stare at me or if you’ll accompany me to the office,” Alpha Jacob inquired, his voice firm. The sound of his voice startled me, and I could hear Rose gasp.
“Yes, Alpha, I’ll follow you. Just let me wear something appropriate,” I whispered. Alpha Jacob’s piercing gaze was drawn to my short nightie and the bare cleavage of my nightgown. I covered myself with the robe.
Alpha Jacob took a step closer to me and said, “If you are trying to seduce me in bed, I will happily make you scream my name instead of cursing.” My throat tightened, and I felt a burning sensation. In response, I took a step back and shut the door in Alpha Jacob’s face, then dashed to change. Changing into a new outfit, I took a deep breath and relaxed.
“Grace, be careful,” Rose said in hushed tones as I walked out of the room. I nodded my head at her, but I noticed Alpha Jacob waiting for me as I walked out the door.
“Alpha, I would have walked myself to the office instead of waiting for a mere slave worker like me,” I explained. Alpha Jacob said nothing, but he whisked my hand in his. This took me aback because just now, he had said he didn’t care about me, so why was he holding my hand? Alpha Jacob is beyond my comprehension.
“You’re causing me pain, Alpha,” I said. Alpha Jacob’s grip on my hand was tight, and the pain from my previous injury was still present. He let go of my hand as I rubbed it to relieve the pain.
Alpha Jacob pinned me against the wall behind me as he asked me a question in the empty foyer before the office. “Are you also mated with Grayson?” Alpha Jacob inquired. “How come you didn’t tell me you had another mate besides me?” he grumbled.
At that point, my eyes widened. However, the question remains how Alpha Jacob came to know about this information that I kept hidden for fear that he would kill my friends and me. “It’s clear that Grayson is your mate based on your facial expression. Grayson has been talking to me and wants to take you to his pack, despite the fact that you are also my mate.” Alpha Jacob said.
“How am I going to deal with your other mate, my Luna?” Alpha Jacob said. “I’m envious of the fact that I have to share with that bastard Grayson. Alternatively, I could assassinate Grayson.” Alpha Jacob’s eyes appeared to be becoming colder, and the color of his pupils changed. Then, finally, the menacing stare of Alpha Jacob’s wolf surfaced and made me uneasy.
“Alpha, I really wanted to tell you about this, but I was afraid you’d hurt my friends and me,” I said through my trembling voice.
“Oh, little Luna, I know it’s not your fault, but I won’t let you go; I need you by my side.” Then Alpha Jacob spoke, and it sounded like his wolf.
“Are you Alpha Jacob’s wolf?” I inquired to determine if it was Alpha Jacob or his wolf.
“You know I am his wolf, and my name is Aiden. Don’t abandon this moron, Jacob, Grace. Please give him a second chance because he has been through a lot,” Aiden said as he held my gaze.
Alpha Jacob struggled to regain control of his wolf as he fell backward. I abruptly cut the conversation short, and Jacob stood tall, his eyes onyx black once more. I stood there watching Jacob walk into the office without looking back. I was extremely nervous on my way to the office because I knew what they would discuss. The moment I walked into the office, it met me with Grayson’s piercing stare. After all, Jacob’s gaze was also firmly fixed on me at that moment. Grayson and Jacob were both talking in the absence of their Beta.
“Alpha, why am I here?” I mumbled, my gaze fixed on my shoes.
“You know exactly why you’re here, Grace: to talk about the fact that you’ve mated with us and that Alpha Grayson wants to take you back to his pack. I was looking forward to hearing your response.” Alpha Jacob spoke calmly, knowing in my heart that if I went with Grayson, he would harm my friends.
“I will not go with Alpha Grayson because he already has someone in his life, and I will break the mate bond with both of you Alphas, which will resolve the situation,” I said in hushed tones, with an underlying sharpness because they had hurt me first, and now it was my turn to hurt them.
“The woman with whom I had a romantic relationship before meeting you, Grace, is no longer with me because she is my ex, and she returned back to the pack,” Alpha Grayson answered. He disagreed with my plan to break the mate bonds, evidenced by his disapproving expression. Alpha Jacob’s gaze fixed on my face, and he exuded a cryptic rage of his own.
“Alpha Grayson, you heard my Luna speak. She has decided not to accompany you,” Alpha Jacob replied with a smirk. The thought of escaping with my friends from this packhouse was running through my head. I’m hoping that my friends will agree with this plan.
In his mocking tone, Alpha Grayson said, “Says the one who rejected his mate and wouldn’t let her go after finding out I was her mate.” Alpha Jacob’s face had taken on a rage-filled expression.
