Family Ties: Amber Eyes series 2

Chapter Nine

Jason POV 

(Dammit, dammit, dammit!) 

'Do you know how much I hate you!' Jedidiah says to me. 

'Shut up! let's wait and listen.' I tell him and look in the direction of Sammy who is talking to Chris, a guy in our class. 

"Who?" She asks him. 

"May, is she really dating Colton?" Chris asks her. 

'Oh goddess, I almost threw up there.' I tell Jedidiah feeling relieved thinking that he was trying to hit on her. 

(Is this guy stupid? I mean that's kind of obvious. Colton is always with her holding or kissing her.) 

"Oh, yes. They are dating." She says now looking inside her locker. 

"Oh." Chris says looking disappointed. 

"What about you?" Chris's friend asks her. 

(s**t!) 

'Get in there Jason, scare them away.' Jedidiah says. 

'And scare her too, No... Dammit!!' 

'You should have asked May for her number and called her yesterday to ask her out.' Jedidiah says angrily. 

We see Micah approaching her with... whatever the hell is on his hair. 

"SHOO SHOO! SHOO away with you!" Micah says running them off. 

'I think I love him now.' I say to Jedidiah. 

'Hug him.' Jedidiah says. 

'f**k NO! I don't love him that much!' 

I walk over to them and the scent of roses hits me. She smells like roses. 

"Ready for class?" I ask smiling at her. 

She smiles back. "Yes." 

"Uh! great, why are you always here in the mornings."  Micah says looking at me annoyed. 

"Oh be nice, babe." Greg says. 

"Oh come on, you love me and you know it." I say smiling. 

Sammy laughs and May and Colton arrive. 

May gasps "You did it!? You actually got your unicorn hair!" 

"Yes b***h, Greg took me yesterday as a surprise." He says giving Greg a wink. 

May gives him a big sweet smile. 

Jedidiah sighs. 'She could have been our mate you know... but you took your sweet time.' 

I roll my eyes. 'Did you really wanted to imprint on her?' I ask him. 

'It doesn't matter. Sammy is just as perfect. But if you ruin this chance, I swear to you, I will make it so you can't ever shift again.' He says almost growling. 

I don't say a thing cause that kind of scares me a bit. 

"I didn't see you guys at the party on Friday after the game." Sammy asks. 

"We had to deal with some stuff." Colton says. 

"Some stuff? Huh! Did it involve wrestling without any clothes?" Micah says wiggling his eyebrows. 

"OW!" May hits Micah on the arm. 

"NO!" She says and we all laugh. 

"Ok, sure." Micah mumbles. 

We head to the classroom and I sit behind Sammy. She smells so good. All I do is watch her in all the classes. 

When is lunchtime, we all sit in our usual spot. I sit next to May and Sammy sits in front of me. 

And like always Cassandra is putting the moves on Colton but now he puts her in her place. I don't feel bad for the girl at all. After all their history, she still loves him that much, it's obvious. But he is mated and she should be respecting that. 

I see Sammy gives me these glances but quickly look away. 

'See, May was right, she likes us.' Jedidiah says. 

Hearing that makes me so happy right now. I look at her and smile, her cheeks turn a bit pink and she smiles back. 

"Are you into my cousin weirdo?" Micah says out loud narrowing his eyes at me. 

(Mother fucker.) 

'Quick, act cool.' Jedidiah says. 

(Crap!) 

"If I was, could you blame me? I mean she is the cutest girl in school." I say with a confident look, but inside I'm dying. 

Colton chuckles. "Nice!" He says from the end of the table. 

Sammy turns red.  

Micah just looks at me and squints his eyes. "Smooth." He mumbles and looks away. 

'HA! in his face... kill me.' I say to Jedidiah embarrassed. 

'First time that I'm impressed.' Jedidiah says. 

I look away from everyone because I know I'm turning red. 

Lunch is finally done and we head to our next class. I sit next to her in this class. 

'The teacher's not here, do it now, ask her.' Jedidiah says. 

I take a deep breath. 'Okay.'

"Hey, Sammy?" I say lowly. 

She turns to me. "Yea?" 

"There's this new mini golf place that just opened up, and I was wondering if you'd like to go... with me! On a date?" I finish saying. 

She looks at me almost shocked. 

'She's not saying anything.' I say to Jedidiah 

'Yea because you're pathetic, you should have asked her in a better way.' He says with anger. 

'Fucker! You're the one who told me to ask her here.' I say annoyed at him. 

He doesn't say anything. 

Her cheeks turn pink. "Yea, sure." She says giving a small smile. 

'YES!! Who's pathetic now asshole.' I say to Jedidiah. I can feel he's excited too. 

I smile at her. "Cool, when are you free?" 

"I'm free tonight... but if it's too soon, we can go some other time?" She says panicking. 

"No, tonight is perfect." I say smiling.  

The teacher arrives and she turns back to the front. 

'Jedidiah, we have a date tonight.' I tell him. 

'Yes, now don't ruin this one.' He says, but I ignore him cause I'm to happy to argue with him. 

Classes are done and I go to find Sammy before she leaves. I see her at the entrance outside the school. 

"Hey, can we exchange numbers? So you can text me later your address." I ask her. 

"Yea." She says with a smile. 

I give her my phone and she types her number in. 

"Cool, I'll pick you up around seven." I say. 

"Pick her up for what?" Micah asks appearing out of nowhere. 

(Dammit, this guy is everywhere.) 

"We are going mini-golfing." Sammy says. 

Micah squints his eyes at me. "Alone?" 

"Yep." I say smugly. 

"Nope, you're not, I'm coming with you." Micah says. 

'Like hell he is!' Jedidiah says angrily. 

"MICAH!" Sammy yells. 

"Sorry but not gonna happen." Greg says. "You butt in and I'm telling May." 

Micah gasps. "You wouldn't!" 

"Do you remember she said something about shaving your head?" Greg says with a small smile. 

"NO! Not my unicorn hair!" He says almost crying. 

Micah looks at me "You better behave." He says in a low tone. 

I smile at him. "I'm a good boy, don't worry."  

I give Sammy a wink walking to my car and I can hear her giggling. 

'Keep being suave like that and we'll be best friends.' Jedidiah says. 

I roll my eyes and head home. When I get home, I see my dad working on his car.  

"So, how did it go?" He asks me. 

I decided to tell him last night about Sammy. I wanted his opinion and he sided with May. Going slow and dating as humans do seems to be the best way. 

"It went well. I got a date tonight." I say smiling. 

"There you go." He says smiling and patting me on the back. 

"Dad, how does the whole claiming thing work with humans?" I ask him. Honestly, this has been bothering me for a while. 

He sighs "Well, obviously you can't claim her on a claiming ceremony. Once you are ready to tell her the truth about you, we have to invite her to the packhouse and tell her there. Once she knows she might need some time to process it... " He says. He sees my worried face. 

 "Look, we'll cross that bridge when it comes to that, right now, live in this moment. Go, make her fall for you." He says smiling. 

I laugh and head inside. I receive a text from Sammy with her address and I smile. 

"Is it a girl?" My mother asks coming out of the kitchen. 

"Yep." I say smiling and she also smiles.

"You need to settle down, stop messing around with girls." She says with a warning look. 

"I would, but you know how Jedidiah is, he's a prick." I say smiling at her. 

'You are such an asshole!' Jedidiah says annoyed. 

She laughs "He needs to stop being so picky" 

I give her a kiss and head upstairs to my room. I play some video games to kill time and then start getting ready. Now I'm getting nervous.  

"Play it cool, that's all you need to do." I say looking in the mirror. 

'Ready? Let's go, I want to see her.' Jedidiah says. 

We head to her house and I park in front. 

I'm debating whether I should text her that I'm here or knock on the door. 

I sigh. "The hard one, I'll knock on the door."

 I get out and head to the door. I take a deep breath and knock. A lady with light long hair and hazel eyes opens the door. 

(Must be her mom.) 

"Hello, I'm looking for Samm- Samantha." I say nervously. 

She smiles. "You must be Jason, come in sweetie." She says motioning me to come inside. 

I smile and walk-in. Sammy runs down the stairs. "HI! Let's go." She says grabbing my arm and trying to drag me out the door. 

"Not so fast young lady." Her mother says and Sammy freezes. 

Her mother starts taking her phone out. "I'm taking a picture of you two so dad can see, since he is not here to see you off on your first date." She says with a smile. 

I look at Sammy and she is turning red. "Mom can I talk to you for a moment." She says dragging her mom to the other room. Of course, I can hear everything. 

"MOM! You are embarrassing me." Sammy says. 

"I just want a picture of this moment that's all, and besides as your parent, it's my job to embarrass you. " Her mom says. 

I chuckle. 

"He's cute by the way." Her mom says. 

"MOM..." 

Her mom comes out and smiles. "Do you mind?" She asks shaking her phone. 

Sammy comes from behind her with a horrified look on her face. 

I smile "Not at all."  

We pose next to each other and her mom takes a picture. 

"Thank you, now you guys have fun!" She says while we walk out the door. 

"It was nice meeting you, Mrs. Wells." I say waving at her, she waves back and closes the door. 

I look at Sammy and now I see how cute she looks. Short pants with a white frilly tank top and cowboy boots. 

'She's so cute Jason.' Jedidiah says. 

'Yes, on that we can agree.' I say to him. 

Sammy looks at me. "I'm sorry about my mom." She says looking embarrassed. 

I chuckle. "Why? She seems nice." I say. 

She smiles. I open the car door for her and she gets in. I run around the car and get in. 

"So, what kind of music do you like?" I ask turning the radio on. 

She laughs. "Mostly pop."  

I smile and turn to the station that has that kind of music. 

'Give her a compliment.' Jedidiah says. 

I start driving. "You look cute by the way."  I say smiling. 

She blushes. "Thank you, you too." 

"I mean handsome!! Handsome." She says almost yelling. 

I start laughing.  

'She's more nervous than we are.' I tell Jedidiah. 

"Thank you." I say smiling and she blushes again. 

We make small talk and arrive at the mini-golf course. 

"Have you ever played?" I ask her handing her a golf club. 

"No." 

"Me neither, so we are going to suck together." I say cringing. 

She laughs. "That's good, I won't be making a fool out of myself f alone then." 

I smile "Well that's not very nice." 

She laughs. We start playing and I suck so bad. She's actually doing better than I am. I start getting to know her a bit better. She's really shy and it's so cute. Her father is a veterinarian and she wants to be one too. I don't know how I feel about that. 

(Will she see me like an animal when I tell her?) 

I decide not to think about it and just enjoy being with her. I hit my ball and it goes to the edge of the hole but doesn't go in.  

(Dammit, I'm tired of this.)  

I look at Sammy and walk to the ball and kick it in.  

She laughs. "You cheater!"  

"I have no idea what you're talking about." I say smiling innocently. 

"That means that I automatically win." She says polishing her nails on her shirt looking smug. 

I laugh. "Fine, fine what do you want as a reward?" I ask her wiggling my eyebrows. 

"A kiss." She mumbles lowly to herself. 

My eyes widen and she notices that I heard her. 

"OMG! I mean.... no... sorry!" She says nervously with her face getting red. 

I laugh. I can't believe she said that. 

'Do it!' Jedidiah says. 

I think about it for a moment. 

I walk to her, pull her by the hips and I kiss her. She stands motionless and surprised but then starts kissing me back. 

She smells so good and her lips are so soft. I can't believe how fast this is going, I thought we'd be going much slower. 

I stop the kiss, not wanting to push her too much. I smile down at her and she smiles with her face blushing.  

"I'm sorry, am I going too fast?" I ask her. 

"She smiles, yea but, I was the one that asked for it." She says lowering her head embarrassed. 

I chuckle. "I'll slow it down but..." I say looking straight at her with her still looking at the ground. 

I lift her head to look at me with a finger on her chin. 

"I really like you, and I want to be more than friends, but I know it's too soon so, I'll take it slow for you." I say looking at her, wanting to kiss her again. 

She smiles and nods. "I like you too." She says in a small whisper. 

I can feel Jedidiah is so happy, if he could roll on the ground right now, he would. I smile feeling ecstatic.  

"So let's get something to eat and then I'll take you home." I say still smiling. 

"Ok" She nods looking down. 

We go eat, we talk a bit and she seems to get a little more comfortable with me. 

After eating, I take her back to her house. 

"Would you like to do something like this again?" I ask her hoping she'll say yes. 

She smiles. "Yes, I'd love to." 

I smile and give her a kiss on her cheek, she seems happy with that. We say bye and I head back home. 

'I have a newfound respect for you.' Jedidiah says. 'But if you f**k it up, I will hate you forever.' He says with a warning. 

I roll my eyes. "Just let me have this little piece of happiness." 

I go home with a huge smile on my face and sleep like a baby.
