Mia’s pov
“I thought you would have started eating. Why are you just getting to the dining room?” Jullian had to ask that question out of surprise. He had thought she would have eaten and been satisfied already. To him, it took him a space of fifteen minutes to get dressed.
When I heard his voice, I felt partly sifted. ‘Why must he say this at this time? His sisters have picked on me already. He is just here to make things worse.’ I maintain my composure. Trying my best not to bite more than I can chew.
Taking my seat at the dining table without answering, one of his sisters spoke harshly to me.
“Would you say you can't hear what my brother said? Have you suddenly turned deaf?” She arched her brows at me.
And I was taken aback by that statement of hers. “Why on earth would you suddenly call me deaf? I choose to answer who I wish. You don't come here to tell me how to do my things.”
That made Jillian's sister's laugh out loud. “A lizard forming to own the whole mansion. If I wish, I could tell my brother to empty your loads outside this mansion. You of all people know you don't belong here.” Another of Julian's sisters spoke those words..
“I don't bloody care about this mansion or anything in it. I am doing this marriage for the last wish of my father.” I hardened my face while my heart seemed so stressed at the moment.
Jullians sister laughed out so loud after hearing me say those words. “Last wish indeed. Just admit to it that you are all about my brother's wealth. Stop being proud and full of yourself.”
“Enough!” Jullian didn't let me give them their response before he spoke those words out of his mouth.
“I believe all of you are adults. Why would you turn the dining room to a place of argument? We should eat in peace.” Jullian spoke those words while he took his seat in the dining room.
I rolled my eyes within my eye socket. I wondered where he was when they had been speaking ill of me.
“So, back to what I asked you, Mia. Why are you just eating?” Hearing that voice of his got me furious and angered.
“Is this some sort of interrogation? Can't you just allow me to have a space of breath so I can eat?” I lashed out in anger.
“A space of breath?! Do you think a poor b***h like you needed one?”
“Talking about the food, where in God's name was your money invested to buy the foodstuffs? We chose to do as we wish as long as you are eating and drinking under this roof.” Jullians sister berated me.
And that only got fierce. I wanted to respond back to them but I was surprised when Jullian inferred.
“Shut that trap you call mouth, you two? You are my sister, but you don't have the right to talk to my wife in that manner. Have you no respect for elders? I am disappointed in you two!” His words suited my heart a bit.
“Brother. Stop being protective of her. We all know she is just here to feast on your money. What on earth does she have to offer you? She is just a parasite.”
Those words pierced Julians ears. He was forced to speak in a harsh tone.
“That is none of your business. It is for me to decide. Do you want me to send both of you packing?” He furrowed his gaze at them, scaring them to their core.
Jillian sisters hissed before they walked out of the dining room. They didn't get to finish their food.
I felt hurt by those words from his sister's and he could see that boldly written on my face.
Silence fell between us. We didn't bother to speak with each other. Unfortunately, I couldn't even eat the food placed before me. I stood up to leave.
“Where on earth do you think you are going?” That word of his surprised me and I turned to face him.
“What do you mean by that?” I arched my brows waiting for the words that would come from his lips thereafter.
“You can't leave this dining room unless you finish the food. You can't just waste what I bought with my hard earned money.”
His words pierced my heart and looked at him with anger all over my face. “You should be ashamed of yourself, Jullian. How much is the food that I can't afford?” Those words enraged from my lips.
And that only made him scoff. “Well then, pay for it. I can't let you waste a crumb of any food in this house.” His voice came into my ear and I swallowed hard the saliva in my mouth.
I opened my bag and I brought it a whopping sum of five thousand dollars. “I believe this should be enough for the portion of the food I ate. I may not be as rich as you but I can still afford the basic things of life!” My voice came out harshly and I dropped the money on the dining table before I took my leave.
‘What nonsense?’ I made that comment in my mind. I retired back to my room.
Jillian watched until I was gone. ‘Getting mad on something casual. It's all good that she paid for the food. I can't let her waste a grain.’ He thought in his head.
Jillian finished with his food. He left the dining room and he went out for his daily work.
I remained in the room trying to keep my cool only for me to hear a knock at the door.
I knew Jullian had gone to work. My eyes widened in frustration. I already knew who the heck was at my door.
His sisters. I can't wait to reap them apart. They are just so annoying.
“Come in.” I said without standing up from where I was.
