Ch-41 (Mother)

1102 Words
Samuel looked at Michael, who was laying unconscious. He sighed and rubbed his forehead. Just as he closed his eyes, he remembered the disgust Aahana held for him in her eyes. She did not hide it for a second. He is pretty sure his father felt it too; because since then he has not tried to have a talk with her. Aahana has been admitted in hospital as per Aarav’s request. They offered him to keep Aahana within the mansion and doctors will be hired to keep 24/7 eye on her, but he declined. He wants Aahana to be in the hospital where everything was present if she needed an emergency treatment. He is worried about her. Aahana lost her consciousness the moment she stepped inside the fief. She has not opened her eyes since then. He does not know what to do. He looked at Michael. He is sure that Michael would have known what to do, but he is still on sedatives. Doctors advised to keep Michael asleep as long as possible so that he can heal faster. Having Phoenix’s power makes Michael a fast healer. He will be up on his feet in two days or so. The door of Michael’s room opened, making Samuel look back. He saw his mother entering inside, followed by a maid carrying his breakfast. She wanted him to have a rest as well, but he denied. He wanted to be near at least one of his siblings. “Keep it there.”; Eleanor ordered the maid, who set up a table for Samuel near Michael’s bed and left. Eleanor sat in front of the table and gestured Samuel to eat. The meal was light for easy digestion; he has gained many injuries. She poured juice into his glass as he watched his mother serving him breakfast with a worried look. Even though they are here with her, she worried. She worried about her sons. One of them is laying unconscious and one is heavily injured. She is also worried about her daughter, who is in hospital and she cannot go to visit her. “I am sorry mother; I could not protect them.”; Samuel said as he held her hand. Stopping her to fret over his breakfast, knowing that she is dividing her attention so, she thinks less of what is happening. She smiled and shook her head. Getting up, she sat beside him, making him face her. She caressed his hair, holding his face in her hands as she kissed his forehead lovingly. “You did great, sweety. I am so proud of you. I love you, and don’t blame you for anything. You should stop blaming yourself as well. I am your mother, darling. All three of you are what makes me a ‘mother’. I worry about you three all the time. Have they eaten? Are they sleeping properly? Are they overworking themselves? I do it all the time. You don’t have to worry about me, okay.”; Eleanor said. She smiled at him as Samuel let a tear fall, feeling vulnerable in front of his mother. Eleanor hugged him tight, hiding his face in her shoulder and patted his back. Telling him it is okay to cry. He hugged her tight and cried like a baby. Let all the feeling out. How his heart hurt when Aahana slapped his hand away? How he felt helpless on the battlefield? How he feared he might see his father die in front of his eyes? How he is afraid of Michael’s and Aahana’s safety? Eleanor took it all in, letting her son be a baby that he was for her. …………………………………….. Aarav frowned. He looked at Aahana’s report. It shows that everything is normal with Aahana. He looked at his sister, who stilled laid unconscious in front of him. If one does not look closely at how her chest is moving up and down slowly, one might think that she is dead. He combed his hair back and let a groan of frustration. What the f**k is happening in this world? “Are you okay, Aarav?”; A man asked. He was wearing a doctor’s coat, his grey hair and wrinkles on face told everyone about his experience. He is the head doctor under whom Aarav is studying. Aarav is his first ever direct student. “Doctor David.”; Aarav greeted him. He had to admit that he thought that this time would be behind them in terms of medicines and medical treatments, but he was wrong. They have healers and mages who work as leaving CT scan, MRI or ultrasound machine. They even have ways to test the blood. But seeing the report, he trusts machines more than these machines. There has been something wrong that she coughed up blood. “She coughed up blood. How can her report be normal?”; Aarav questioned as he looked at her with worried eyes. “I don’t know, Aarav. I made everyone perform the tests thrice on her when I read the report, after that even I had to agree that the report is true. There has to be something related to her mana core.”; Doctor David said. “Mana core?”; Aarav asked. “Mana core provides everyone the power to perform magic. You and your sister have a very strong mana core. But unlike yours, which can be easily located by a doctor, hers is hidden. We could not find where her mana core is located to even run a test on it. I highly doubt that her mana core is damaged, only that can cause such a high reaction.”; Doctor David said. “I have mana core?”; Aarav mumbled to himself. He has something that provides him with magic. How the hell did he not know? “She does not have any injuries superficially as well as internally, all we can do is wait for her to heal. Our healers will provide her with mana so that her core can heal itself if it is damaged. Don’t worry, I won’t let anything happen to your sister.”; Doctor David assured him as he patted Aarav’s shoulder before walking away. Aarav sighed and slumped down on his chair, he hates this world!!!
