Ch-9 (Selfish)

1449 Words
Aahana sat on her bed while Nogi laid on the foot side. She looked at the closet, which was filled with dresses which Eleanor ordered maids to buy. She has to say these maids are as fast as robots. She was still in her work clothes; she needed a bath for sure. She got up and walked into the bathroom. It did not surprise her to see the bath ready. Stripping herself, she laid down on the bathtub and closed her eyes. “We threatened an army man, transported to a different dimension, meet an archbishop who stares awfully a lot, meet Archduke and his family, his wife is awfully friendly to me. She tired to take information about us as soon as we got here.”; She recalled the events by whispering to herself. ‘Though these people could be genuinely kind’, Aahana thought. She soon shook her head in denial. She has met no kind person in her twenty-two years of her life. But what made her cautious was that she actually felt calm and happy when she met Eleanor. Was she using some kind of manipulating magic like her? She submerged herself completely inside the water. She has to discuss it with Aarav. Nothing seems right here. She feels nothing threatening from them, but something seems wrong. Everything seems to go too smoothly. She got out of the bathtub and wore a bathrobe and wrapped her hair with a towel. She stopped when she saw Aarav sitting on her bed, frowning. “Hey”; She said, getting his attention. Aarav looked at her and raised his eyes. “Wear something.” Aahana nodded and took out a nightdress and went back to the bathroom. She got out of the bathroom and sat on the chair, rubbing her hair dry. “Don’t you think something is weird.”; Aarav asked, making Aahana look at him and sigh. “Yes, there is something weird. But what? We cannot just go on accusing someone when they have done nothing yet.”; She answered. Aarav nodded; she is right. They have helped them since they arrived here. “We go out tomorrow and explore this world.”; Aarav said. Aahana agreed to his suggestion. “Also, don’t let your guard down. We cannot do anything to them does not mean we cannot keep an eye.”; He added, going out of the room. Aahana wanted to discuss how she felt happy when she met Eleanor, but she decided against it. He is already stressed out; she does not want to add up to it for now. She looked at Nogi, who was already looking at her and waving his tail. She smiled and went to bed before petting him. Nogi has always been mama’s boy, he loves Aarav as well, but he stays with her most of the time. ………………………..   “Did you all do this?”; Eleanor asked, looking at her husband and sons. They smiled at her joyfully and nodded. They were proud of their actions. Finally, she is with them, with her proper family. “She might have a tan, but she still looks the same. Same black hair, same doe-like eyes and same innocence.”; Anderson said. “Oh, please as if you know about her innocence.”; Eleanor commented, taking him back by surprise. She looked furious and disappointed. She shook her head and sat down. They were about to follow her when she spoke up. “I allowed none of you to take a seat. This is my study and no one and I mean no one does anything without my permission.”; She looked at them. They were stood up straight but were confused. “What did we do, mother?”; Samuel asked. His mother has been angry at them, but she has never been furious like this. It is as if they have committed some kind of crime. They just brought their sister back. What is wrong with that? “We did not use any wrong methods mother.”; Michael added. Maybe his mother is angry because she thought they did some dark arts and sacrificed people. Eleanor looked at her youngest and shook her head. “You took her away from the family. SHE FINALLY HAD A FAMILY THAT SHE LOVED AND YOU ALL TOOK THAT AWAY FROM HER AND FOR WHAT FORGIVENESS?”; Eleanor shouted. Anderson frowned. He tried of walking to her but was stopped when she just shook her head at him. “You guys don’t want her forgiveness.”; She added. “No, you are wrong, mother. We want her forgiveness.”; Michael said. “And we are her actual family, we have riches that her family in other world won’t be able to provide her with.”; Anderson added. “Oh, really. You think that such a vehicle would be with a commoner, or that you can afford such a vehicle.”; Eleanor questioned him. Anderson opened his mouth to answer, but nothing came out. This kind of vehicle does not exist in this world so, affording it is an entirely distinct problem. “You took another happiness from her.”; Eleanor added. They looked down in shame. Michael had tears in his eyes, while Samuel was angry. Why does their mother think they are always on wrong? “Eleanor, please listen to me.”; Anderson tried to talk to her, but Eleanor sneered. “No, you listen to me. You don’t want her forgiveness, you all just want to lift the weight of guilty so, you can live freely. I thought you guys would have changed after she was gone for real, but no, you all are still selfish. You did not bring her here for her, you brought her here because of your selfish reasons.” Anderson’s eyes widened, and he took a step back in shock. Michael had tears running down his eyes while Samuel did not even look up. Eleanor sobbed and buried her face in her hands. “I am selfish too.”; Eleanor added, making all three of them look at her in shock. “I am selfish because I don’t want to tell her it was you guys that snatched her from her world. I am selfish because I want her to stay. I want to be her mother, I want to kiss her forehead, I want her to forget her parents in different dimension.”; Eleanor said, as she kept on crying. “We all are selfish then.”; Anderson added. Eleanor shook her head. “I much worse than you guys. Unlike you, who were not aware that what you are doing is wrong; I know. I know that what I am doing is wrong. I know I am deceiving my daughter. Yet, I cannot find my strength to tell her anything.”; She added. Everyone fell into deep silence. Her sobs were all that could be heard. Anderson slowly came to her side and embraced her. It was a surprise that she let him embrace her. She clenched his shirt tightly as she continued to cry. Her sons looked at each other before leaving the room. Anderson caressed his wife’s head, but could not take her words out of his mind. She was right; they did not do this for Aahana no; they did this for themselves. They did because they did not want to live in a guilt. It was difficult to live knowing how much wrong he has committed against his own daughter. His heart was heavy; he could not sleep or even do his duty. He just wanted to redeem himself because he thought he would attend to peace. He did this for his own peace of mind and not for his daughter. He gripped his wife as his eyes teared up. He is still selfish and pathetic. He should never be her father. He does not deserve her. He does not know what he can do now; it is true that they do not know how to send her back. Maybe he can know her better, maybe he can be better, father. Maybe he can be someone on who she can rely on.  ................................................ Do you guys agree with Eleanor's view of Anderson, Samuel and Michael?
