Chapter 24: See You at the Civil Affairs Bureau TomorrowWhen they arrived, Rebecca Bell was sort of forced to get into the car. The car drove out of the parking lot and went all the way to the left. Halfway ahead, Rebecca Bell realized that the direction was wrong. She couldn't help reminding him, "Mr. Johnson, we're on the west road. We should have turned left at last crossing." Luis Johnson did not answer and kept driving. Ten more minutes later, the car finally stopped. Looking at the gate of the community in front of her, Rebecca Bell was so shocked that her eyes widened. "This is..." "Your home." "I know this is my home, but... this is my parents' home..." Rebecca Bell touched her forehead and felt a headache. "Mr. Johnson, I'm going back to my home tonight. Not here." "Weren't you going on a blind date?" he said with no expression on his face. He opened the car door, took a stride, got out of the car, and went straight into the community. Rebecca Bell was shocked and quickly ran after him to stop him. "Mr. Johnson, what, what are you doing..." "Go upstairs to meet your parents." His answer was particularly straightforward, and the expression on his face was extremely calm. Rebecca Bell was almost shocked to tears, "What happened? Why do you want to see my parents?" "Let them see what kind of man is the best." Rebecca Bell was speechless. She asked herself, "Is it okay for you to be so narcissistic, Mr. Johnson?" "Well, Mr. Johnson, even if you are really in a high position and handsome enough to outshine ordinary men, your sudden appearance will scare my parents, okay? I don't want my parents who are both more than 50 years old, to be scared out of their wits." "Mr. Johnson, stop fooling around. Let's go." She took Luis Johnson's hand and pulled him straight towards the car. Luis Johnson took the chance to grab her palm and pressed his tightly against hers. He said seriously, "If I want to marry you, I will see your parents sooner or later. Since I have to, why don't I see them now?" Speechlessly, Rebecca Bell almost broke down. She thought, "The truth is I didn't agree to get married to you, okay? "I think..." Luis Johnson suddenly murmured, "I can meet your parents today and register for marriage tomorrow. This plan is very perfect." "What's so good about this?"Rebecca Bell thought. "Well, let's go." He took her hand and walked into the community. Rebecca Bell hugged his arm in a panic and said hurriedly, "Didn't we agree on the secret marriage? Since it's a secret marriage, we can't let my parents know!" Rebecca Bell was stunned for a moment before she realized what she had said. However, Luis Johnson raised his eyebrows in unusual calmness. His eyes told his satisfaction, "You agreed." Rebecca Bell was about to cry. She wondered why she would say such words. Sure enough, she had been possessed by something supernatural! "Well, tomorrow morning, bring your household register and ID card. See you at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau?" He said in a questioning tone but his facial expression was saying, "If you don't agree, I'll go upstairs to see your parents now." It scared Rebecca Bell so much that she couldn't even refuse. So, now she was... threatened? Was she going to get married or was she forced to?! "Or, it's better to see your parents." After a while, noticing that she didn't agree, he calmly added. Rebecca Bell stared at him with a bitter face, gritted her teeth, and finally nodded. "Okay, I know." "What do you know?" "I know...tomorrow morning, we, meet at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau..." The man was finally satisfied. He reached out and stroked her soft hair, with a rare smile and said, "Good girl." Rebecca Bell didn't want to talk now. Rebecca Bell had been thinking about her relationship with Luis Johnson the whole day. Because she had thought about it too much, she would occasionally try to imagine what would happen if she married him. The most important thing for her in this marriage that did not contain any emotion was that she would not lose her future. Luis Johnson was right yesterday. She would regret it. She would regret if she offended Beacher Johnson and Paula Reyes! With all the six years in primary school, three years in junior high school, three years in senior high school, four years in college, three years in work, parents' support, pressure from exams, and social experience, she could only exchange for a bright future for her own. If she lost this future, it would mean that her more than ten years of hard work would go down the drain. Not only would she feel sorry for herself, but she would also feel sorry for her parents. Therefore, if Rebecca Bell wanted to keep this job, as Luis Johnson had said, only he, who would be the next successor of the Johnson Group, could help her. If this marriage was just a show, and she would be able to successfully divorce in half a year and return to the origin, then in the case of no choice, she was willing to try. Of course, she had to try. She got in the black Jaguar again and Johnson drove it back to the small apartment she rented. Before Rebecca Bell got off the car, the man in the driver's seat moved. He held up his hand and his fingertips stroked her smooth chin and then turned on the car light. Through the warm light, he scanned every inch of her skin. Finally, he calmly reminded her, "We are going to take a photo for our marriage certificate. Remember to dress yourself up." Rebecca Bell was a little annoyed. Should she thank him for reminding her in such a tactful way that she was that ugly without make-up?
