Chapter 14

After the shower, I changed into a pair of dark wash jeans, a tank top and a jacket., it irked me how the clothes fitted me perfectly and a part of me wanted to ask how the bastard got my measurement but the major part of me dreaded knowing how. I followed Delilah out of Jacob's cottage, I felt a tad bit guilty lulling her into a sense of security, somehow I knew she would be the key to me destroying Jacob Mont Blanc, he seemed to have a soft spot for her and I was not above exploiting our new found friendship to get an advantage over him. "Those houses over there belong to the advisors." She pointed out four large row houses. "Advisors?" "Yes, Jacob has three advisors who help him in different areas of running the pack, it has always been like that here." She explained. "Is your father an adviser?" "He was…" She trailed off, a sad smile on her lips. "He died in an accident, so it's just me and my mother now." "I'm sorry to hear that." I whispered, we walked in silence until we reached a large building. "This is the warriors' cottage." From what I could see it probably had either four or five floors. "Do you want me to go in and get your cousin for you?" She inquired. I ignored her, staring at the building, wondering how many of the warriors in there had my pack's blood in their hands. A flash of strewn dismembered bodies flashed across my mind and I had to stop myself from shuddering. "No, I'll go in." I didn't wait for her reply as I made my way up the stone path to the front door. It was unlocked so I pushed it open and walked in. There were several men in the living room, some watching the game on the telly. I pulled my shoulders back, staring at them as they stared back. I could see recognition glinting in the eyes of some of all the older warriors. "Can we help you Luna Prime?" A man asked, getting up from a sofa and approaching me. His words garnered the attention of the rest, looks of confusion and curiosity on their faces as they looked at me. He towered over me, though he was all muscles, nothing about him intimidated me. Then again, it would take a lot to scare an Alpha Prime. "My cousin, Liam Lark. Where is he?" I asked. "I’m surprised you didn't bump into him as he also insisted on seeing you. I sent some men to escort him to the Prime's cabin, you are free to wait for him here while I mindlink them to bring him back." He explained. "Very well." He turned around. "Oi boys, make some room for our Luna Prime." A couple of them stood and cleared a chair for me, pushing away boxes of half eaten pizza and empty bottles and cans of drinks from the table next to the chair. I walked over and sat, Delilah standing next to me. "By the way, I'm Tony." He introduced himself. I gave him a forced smile, he was nice but I wasn't about to trust him, hell I didn't trust anyone in this place. "I'm Adelaide Silverstone… but you already know that." I could hear murmurs around me, looks of shock on the faces of several warriors. "Silence" Tony boomed, glaring at them before turning back to me. "I apologise for the lack of manners from the warriors… they seem to be forgetting their place or whose presence they are in." He glared at them once more. "It's nothing, you can't expect them not to be shocked, I mean your Alpha did kill everyone in my pack." I felt Delilah stiffen next to me while the warriors froze, all eyes on Tony and I. The edges of his eyes crinkled as he chuckled. "Oh I definitely see the fire he was talking about." My eyes narrowed and I parted my lips about to ask what the hell he meant by that when the door opened and Liam walked in, followed by two men. His eyes met mine and I got to my feet, approaching him. "Are you okay?" I inquired, looking him over. "Yeah, I went looking for you." He replied, "what about you? Are you okay?" "Yeah." I could feel eyes on me so I grabbed his hand and pulled him out of the house. I think we're going to start having conversations within our minds. He glanced at me confused, I tilted my head towards Delilah and Tony. Yeah, that'll be for the best. He replied, glancing at Delilah. Who's the girl? An assistant… Jacob just wants someone who'd tail me and report my every move to him. I muttered, annoyed at having a glorified babysitter. The bastard is really serious about you being his Luna isn't he? He inquired, glancing at the pendant. Unfortunately… So what's the plan? He inquired. The plan is that you head back to Ridgeway Valley while I handle everything here. He stopped walking and glared at me. "No" Liam, I am serious. The sooner you are away from this place, the better I will feel knowing there is nothing Jacob can hold over my head. He folded his arms across his chest I AM NOT LEAVING YOU ALONE. Annoyed at his stubbornness, I glared at him. Don't make me command you. If you command me I will never forgive you Adelaide. I stared at him, his clenched jaw and hard eyes told me he meant every word. As much as I wanted him safe, I couldn't bear having him hate me. Anyone could but not Liam. How about a compromise? He narrowed his eyes. I'm listening. You go to the consulate, we'll be in constant communication. He pursed his lips before nodding. "Fine." We also need to call Uncle Pete. I added Do you think he would want to hear from us? From me? After what happened? He asked, a look of uncertainty on his face. Don't be silly Liam, he might be angry at us but that doesn't mean he wouldn't want to hear from us. I'll call him today, you should also call him when you get to the consulate. Alright… that makes sense. If you two are done, I have received orders to take you back to the Alpha Prime's cottage." Tony said, stepping forward. "Fine…" I let out a sigh, turning back to Liam. I'll contact the consulate and let you know. Alright then. Stay safe Addie. I smiled, he hadn’t called me that name in ages, it reminded me of our childhood before we were forced to grow up. You too Lili I followed Delilah and Tony back to Jacob's cottage feeling the curious eyes of people on me. I was certain they were wondering who I was or maybe they knew, truth was I didn’t care. We got to Jacob’s cottage and Tony opened the door, I walked in with Delilah, Jacob was seated in the foyer, a wine glass in hand, red liquid swirling within. "Prime" Delilah and Tony greeted, he nodded, his eyes on me. I folded my arms over my chest as his eyes roved over my form. The edge of his lips lifted a bit, making me glare at him. The bastard. "You can go, Delilah." He instructed, she nodded, glancing at me before leaving, closing the door behind her. "I see you've met Tony, my beta" I narrowed my eyes at the beta, now his earlier comment made sense. "It's an honour to meet you, Luna Prime." He replied, grinning slightly as I scowled at the title. “I wish I could say the same.” I muttered, glaring at him, he laughed before bowing once more. "Goodnight Alpha, Luna." "Won't you be joining us for dinner?" Jacob inquired, he shook his head. "I promised the warriors I would join them for their feast." "Alright, see you in the morning." He made his way out, leaving us alone. I turned in the direction of the stairs. "And where do you think you are going, pet?" I stopped in my tracks, clenching my jaw before turning to him. "To my room or do I need your permission for that?" I asked. He placed the wine glass on the table and walked up to me. "See you're already settling in… referring to the Luna Suite as your room." He stated, raising a hand to my hair. The sound of flesh hitting flesh echoed around us as I smacked his hand away from me. "Don't you dare lay your filthy hands on me." I snarled. His eyes flashed red and he grabbed my jacket, pulling me flush against him. "What are you going to do about it?" He whispered, his lips grazing the shell of my ear. I jerked my head away, baring my teeth at him. My eyes flashing silver. "Oh your beast wants to come out and play? Do you think she can handle me, pet?" My fingers morphed into claws and I shoved him away, slashing him across his chest. "I am NOT your pet." I snapped, my chest heaving as I tried to control the beast within me. He let out a chuckle, looking down at the claw marks on his chest, his shirt had deep claw marks, blood seeped out of the wounds. He pulled off the shirt, before I could fully bask in the satisfaction of seeing the deep bloody marks on his abdomen, they began to close up. What the hell… There was no way for an Alpha Prime to heal as fast as he did. I stared in horror as his skin stitched itself up, the wound completely gone leaving nothing but smooth skin. I looked up at him, stumbling back at the darkness that swirled around his eyes. He seemed to suck all the light in the room, a sort of darkness oozing out of him and spreading around the room, towards me. "That was weak…" He spoke, his voice devoid of warmth. I ignored the warning bells in my head and took a step forward. "I am not afraid of you Jacob." I spat. He tilted his head to the side, observing me. "Yet your heart is beating hard and fast, almost like a deer being stalked by a big bad wolf…" He took a step forward just as lightning flashed across the room making the lights go out, amber eyes glowing before me. "Y-your eyes…" I whispered, "All the better to see you with my Luna '' He whispered, before surging forward. I closed my eyes and raised my arms to shield myself from his attack but it never came. I opened my eyes, moving my arms away to see an empty room. What the actual f**k?! I didn't waste time bolting up the stairs to my room as if the hounds of hell were nipping at my heels. I slammed the door shut, locking the door for extra measure. I slid down the door, my heart racing. There was something dreadfully wrong with Jacob Mont Blanc and I hated to admit it but a small part of me was terrified at that. **************** ********************* ********************* I glanced at the clock. 2am… Kneeling in the middle of my room, I closed my eyes, feeling the energy of the house. I smirked, finding what I was looking for. Jacob’s energy was low and static meaning he was asleep. Perfect I slipped out of my room, heading down the stairs, making sure my footsteps were as silent as they could be while keeping my eyes peeled for any slight movement. After the encounter I had with Jacob, I was more than certain he was not normal but I didn't plan on sticking long enough to find out. The lower floor was empty and dark, I knelt down once more tapping into the energy of the house, he had not moved from his position so I was safe. I moved towards his office, opening the door and slipping in. Thanks to my vision I didn't need to flick on the lights, I made my way to his table and picked up the phone, immediately dialling Uncle Pete's number. Time was of the essence. "Please pick up…" I whispered. A few seconds later, his familiar voice filled my ear. "Hello, this is Alpha Peter speaking, who is this please?" I let out a shaky breath. "Uncle Pete…" I heard the sharp inhale from him. "A-Adelaide?" "Yeah, it's me." "Oh Eda! You went to meet him didn't you? Adelaide why?!' He cried out. I glanced at the door before focusing on the call. "He was going to kill Liam if I didn't show up." I replied. "And have you seen him… Liam?" He asked, the worry in his voice palpable. "Yes, he's safe. I'm going to make arrangements for him to head to the consulate after this call." I explained. "What about you?" "I'm staying here…" "What? No!!! Adelaide, that monster killed your family, he killed your pack!!!" He cried out. "I don't have a choice Uncle Pete, if I refused to stay, he was going to kill Liam. You don't have to worry about me." "How can I not worry about you Adelaide, you're all that's left of my mate and best friend's family… I can't help it. How about I send an extraction team in?" He suggested. "I don't think we can fool Jacob twice, he'll come after us with everything he has. Liam will call you when he gets to the consulate, this isn't my phone so please don't call this line. Once I have a phone, I'll call you again." I explained, needing to end the phone call and get to the next one. "You wouldn't need a phone if you didn't throw your other one away." He grumbled, making me laugh softly. "Please be safe Adelaide." "I'll talk to you soon Uncle Pete." I ended the call and dialled the consulate's official number. It was one of the few numbers my father made me memorise as a child. If you ever find yourself in the North American continent, don't trust anyone, call this number and tell them your name. You'll be safe. I had always wondered why he had said that, but now I knew the real reason. Sighing, I waited for the call to be answered. "Hello, Magnus speaking. Who is this?" A sleepy voice answered. "It's Adelaide" "Oh Prime! How are you? How may I be of help?" He inquired. "I need a favour." I replied. "Anything, you just name it." "I'll need a car tomorrow to pick up Liam." I explained. "From the airport?" "No… from Jacob's territory." I replied. "What?! H-how is that possible? Was he captured? Are you with him?!" "I'll explain everything soon, I don't have much time now. I also need a phone so if you could get that for me it would be very much appreciated." "Ofcourse, I'll have everything ready for tomorrow morning." "Thank you." I ended the call and placed the phone exactly where I had left it making sure to wipe off any fingerprint on it before relaxing into the chair. I glanced around the office, my eyes landing on his drink cabinet. Hmmm I walked over and carefully opened it, staring at several decanter bottles lined on the two shelves. The ones on the first shelf contained a dark red substance while the ones on the lower shelf were of a dark blue colour that reminded me of Samara's bræw. If only I had the poison on me right now. I opened one of the red filled decanter bottles, my brows furrowed as a familiar metallic scent filled my nostrils making my body run cold. "What the hell…" My mind flashed back to Jacob's drink… I racked my brain trying to make sense of my thoughts. Nanna Ur's words also came to mind. The Mont Blancs are special lycans… A faint sound from somewhere within the house snapped me out of my thoughts and I placed the bottle back, closing the cabinet and headed back to my room, feeling uneasy, almost as if I was being watched. I placed a hand on the ground, he was still asleep. You're starting to imagine things I shook my head, slipping into bed. I may have imagined being watched but one thing I was sure of was the contents of the decanter. Blood… Jacob Mont Blanc consumes human blood.
