I glared at him, folding my arms, biting back every vile utterance I wanted to spew at him.
"I'm here, what do you want?"
He smiled, though there was nothing warm or friendly about it, in fact all it did was make him look feral.
"Sit" He gestured to the chair next to me while he settled into a chair.
"I am not eating."
He took a bite of his steak, glancing at me.
"Then your cousin will go hungry for the next two days." He stated. I narrowed my eyes at him, he continued eating as if he had not kil.led my family and imprisoned my cousin and I. I stamped the urge to hurl the knife in front of me at him.
I sat down, picking up the fork and knife, slicing into the steak. I took a bite, forcing myself to chew and swallow.
"Why are my cousin and I being held captive?" I demanded. He let out a chuckle, glancing at me, an eyebrow raised, cold amusement dancing in his eyes.
"You and your cousin are here on charges of conspiracy to commit m.urder, attempt to m.urder an Alpha Prime, criminal trespass, do I need to continue?"
Anger and disbelief coursed through my veins, I slammed my hands on the table, getting to my feet, the chair almost toppling over.
"Conspiracy to commit mu.rder? Attempt to mu.rder?! You ki.lled MY family and you have the audacity to levy some stupid charges on us! You are insane if you think any of this will stick with the council."
"Why would I involve the council regarding matters within my continent? You and your cousin will be tried by me and your punishment will be decided by me but of course, you are my mate and I am willing to overlook your crimes..."
Whatever restraint I was barely holding onto snapped and I grabbed the knife, rushing over to him with full intention of driving the blade into his throat. A gasp left my lips when he caught my wrist, the blade, inches away from his jugular vein.
"You never learn do you?"
"Let go of my hand you bastard!!!" I ordered, trying to wrench my hand away, his eyes narrowed, his grip tightened. I grit my teeth to stop myself from crying out in pain, the knife falling out of my grip and clattering to the floor.
"You are teetering along a dangerous line pet, I would advise you to tread carefully." His voice was quiet but deadly. I snarled, baring my teeth at him, raising my knee, aiming for his groin but before my knee could make contact, he had turned us around, pushing me cheek first against the wall.
"Ugh!" I struggled to get out of his grip as he pressed his body against mine, effectively trapping me. His lips moved to my throat and I immediately stiffened for a moment before I began to thrash wildly. I didn't want the bastard anywhere close to me, especially somewhere as precious and sensitive as my neck.
"It would be so easy for me to just..."
He trailed off, lifting his hand to brush my hair away from my throat. My heart slammed against my chest as he did so, to someone the gesture might seem tender... almost loving.
"Sink my fangs into your soft flesh, mark you and lap up that sweet rich blood of yours."
A sigh left his lips and he stepped back. I whirled around to face him, by hand itching to slap him for the way he handled me but I stopped myself. His eyes had a strange red tint, it was unnatural.
The Mont Blancs are special lycans… Agatha's words came back to me. He reached down and picked up the knife, handing it back to me.
"Now that you are done, can we go back to dinner?"
The nerve of him!!! Making me sound like some errant child.
I snatched the knife, shoving past him back to my seat. He sat down and continued eating while I poked at my meal, wishing the meat was him instead so I could stab it to my heart's content.
"Your cousin doesn't have to stand for a trial that will most certainly end up with him being exe.cuted." He commented.
"Of course he doesn't because he is innocent of those accusations but we all know there is no iota of goodness in your heart."
He ignored my jab, taking a sip of his drink. My thumb caressed the poisoned ring, wishing he was ingesting the poison instead.
"I have a deal for you."
A deal with the devil, what could possibly go wrong?
"I am not interested in making a deal with a murderer." I snapped
"Take your rightful place as my Luna Prime and your cousin lives, if you don't, he goes to trial and you still become my Luna, the choice is yours."
I narrowed my eyes on him, folding my arms.
“How about I reject you? End this before it even begins.” I shot back. His eyes darkened considerably and I could tell my words had an effect on him, I didn't bother hiding my smirk.
“I had waited for you, thought you to be dead…” he began, the lights around the room flickering. I glanced around the room before my eyes settled on him.
“Do you for a second think a flimsy thing such as your rejection will stop me from having what was deemed mine by the goddess herself? I will never accept your rejection, Adelaide Silverstone. I’m not above chaining you to my bed if need be. And if you still plan on going ahead with your rejection, then your cousin's head will roll before you utter the words.”
I could only stare at him.
“You really are a monster.” I whispered. He lifted his cup to his lips, taking a long sip.
"Your father made sure of that. You have the night to think about it and give me an answer."
I ground my teeth, glaring in his direction.
"I'm done here." I uttered, getting to my feet. The door opened and the same man that had escorted me up here came in. I stopped by the door, glancing back at him.
"If you think I’ll agree to be your Luna Prime after what you did to my family, to my pack then you are a bigger fool than I thought possible."
He smirked, his eyes raked over me in a way that made my skin hum, the hunger in his eyes was palpable.
"We'll see."
JACOB
I watched her leave, taking a sip of Samara's bræw. She was a spitfire and I knew she was capable of causing much damage. Tony walked in a few minutes later.
"Seeing that you are still alive, I'd say it went well then." He inquired. I wiped my mouth clean with the napkin, tossing it on the table and getting to my feet.
"She made another attempt, not as calculated as the first one, so I'll say we are making some sort of progress." I replied.
"How? We had her frisked before she was placed in the cell."
I walked up to him, picking up the knife she had tried to use.
"Turns out she can be very resourceful when she wants to be."
He shook his head as I made my way out of the dining room, him following me.
"And the deal?"
"I gave her the night to think it over."
"What if she says no?"
"She won't." I replied, making my way to my office. "She may hate my guts but she loves her cousin more than anything."
"You want her yet you're forcing her to obey you by threatening hee cousin every chance you get, isn't that going to make her hate you more?" He inquired. I pursed my lips.
"She'll get over it. Besides I am willing to do anything possible to have her by my side, I don't care if I have to play dirty to achieve that."
ADELAIDE
That no good murderous bastard!!!
I stewed in anger as the guard led me back to the cell, the nerve of him to think I would agree to be his Luna. The very thought made me sick to my stomach.
We got to the cell and he opened the door, I stepped in. Liam raced over to me.
"Are you okay? Did he hurt you? I swear to Eda if he…"
"I'm fine." I assured him. His eyes gave me a quick but detailed look before stepping back, relief evident in his features. I moved to the bed and plopped down, resting against the wall.
"So what did he want?" He inquired. I glanced over at him, shaking my head.
"He kidnapped us to stand trial for attempting to kill him." I answered.
"He's kidding right? Like that has to be some tasteless joke."
I turned to Liam.
"I don't think Jacob Mont Blanc knows or understands what a joke is."
"That's f*****g insane!!! He killed our people and he thinks he has the right to punish us for retaliating?!" He spat. "What did you say?"
"I told him to go f**k himself… almost stabbed him in the throat but his reflexes… it's nothing like I have seen before Liam." I whispered plopping down on the bed. He joined me on the bed, glancing at me.
"I might have not seen any of the other Alpha Primes in ages but from what I can remember, none of them had eyes that changed colours at will or the ability to control the weather or possess someone else."
Liam shrugged, getting to his feet.
"Who knows what sort of dark ritual the Mont Blancs did to get that much power. Honestly, the less we know the better. What we need to worry about is how to get the hell out of here. There's no way we are standing trial."
I glanced at him.
"He gave us a way out." I whispered, knowing what I was about to say was going to have him go ballistic.
Liam turned to me, a surprised look on his face.
"He did?!"
"Yeah, I… I become his Luna and he drops the charges." I replied. He jumped to his feet, whirling around to face me.
"No! There is no way in hell you are going to become that murderers mate, I don't give a flying f**k if he is your mate."
I looked over at the bars, unable to bear the look in his eyes.
"Adelaide!"
Silence
"You possibly can't be thinking of agreeing to be his Luna!"
He walked over, kneeling in front of me.
"I don't care what punishment he mets on me, I won't let him have you."
I looked at him.
"I don't have a choice Liam."
"Like hell you don't have one!"
I shook my head, getting to my feet.
"So you want me to say no right?" I asked.
"Yes!"
"And your mate?"
He kept quiet.
"What about the future of Ridgeway Valley?" I continued. "I want nothing more than to destroy Jacob Mont Blanc but at this point, he has us by the throat."
Liam looked away, his jaw clenched.
"So that's it… he's won, he gets away with murder."
I cupped his face, turning him to look at me.
"Never" I whispered. "He may have won this battle but the war is just starting. I won't rest until I destroy him even if I have to pretend to play nice."
I pressed my forehead to his, closing my eyes.
Silverstone will be avenged.
