The youngest and only girl born to the Alpha and Luna. Rose looked nothing liking her parents her two oldest brothers looked like the perfect mix of her father and mother. She was born the same stormy night as the daughter of her mother’s best friend, but yet she was still an oddball to the group. Her father had dark brown hair, and brown eyes, her mother blonde hair and blue eyes, her brother brown hair and brown eyes. Her father’s Beta David, and his wife Lilly both had brown hair and brown eyes, as well as their son David and their daughter Kira. Her father’s Gamma Billy was a widower; his wife and children were killed in a rogue attack before Rose was born. Daniel rescued the man but was sadly unable to save his family. When Billy healed from his wounds, Daniel asked him to stay as a member of the pack. With his family gone Billy felt he had nothing more to live for, that is until Daniel and Meridah asked him to be the Godfather of Rose the night she was born. Rose herself was born with fiery red hair, and emerald, green eyes. She was very fair complected and had a pattern of freckles that went across the bridge of her nose. Even as a small child she would often be teased by the other children for her looks. She never told anyone because she was quite content being alone.
Her mother and her two friends would often take her and the rest of the children out into the courtyard to play on sunny days. While the boys would run around like savages, and the girls would play with their dollies under the shade tree. She would play off in the corner alone lost in her own world of make believe. It was on one of these days, that as she sat and played, she heard a cry. She paused from her playing looking over at the other children to see that none of them were crying, shrugging it off as hearing things she returned to playing. Once again, she heard the same cry, she looked at her mother to see if maybe she had heard it as well, but it looked as if her mother had also traveled to a different world. Leaving her toys Rose walked over to her mother. Her mother did not notice her, so she tugged at her dress. Seeming startled her mother looked down at her. “I hear a child crying in the forest.” Her mother told her there was no one crying, but she knew what she heard. She grabbed her mother’s hand tugging her to the courtyard entrance. Her mother followed her, and she followed the crying. The crying led her to the South Woods, her parents called the Southern Border. It did not take her long at all to find the source of the crying. She watched as her mother kneeled in front of the boy and asked him his name. “Tell her my name is Abel,” he spoke to her in her head. Rose did as the boy said, she could see the confusion on her mother’s face. “Where are your mom and dad,” she asked the same way he had spoken to her. “Dead.” “Do you want to play with me?” “I will, but I am hungry.” Rose stepped around her mother who was oblivious to the conversation. She held her hand out to the boy, who took it. They walked back towards the packhouse with her mother following. She led Abel into the packhouse up to the Alpha floor where her family had a private kitchen. It was there they were sitting at the table eating when the Doctor arrived. She wanted to stay with Abel, but her mother would not allow her. Instead, she was taken to her room to bathe, and dress for bed. Her mother tucked her in leaving to tend to Abel she said. She tried to drift to sleep but she couldn’t. Then she heard Abel, “Your mom left with the Doctor to go downstairs.” “Did the doctor hurt you?” “No, they looked me over and took some blood, but it didn’t hurt.” “How did your parents die?” “I don’t know how my dad died. My mom just always said he did. My mom died when we were attacked by other wolves. She told me to run. So, I did I ran as fast and as far as I could until you found me.” “How did you end up in our woods?” “My wolf told me to come here.” “You can talk to you wolf?” “Can’t you?” “No. Mama says my wolf will speak to me when I’m older that right now she’s sleeping.” “She’s returning up the stairs with someone else.” “Pretend to be asleep.” Rose closed her eyes and listened to her parents hushed whispers as they headed to their room, she opened her eyes when she heard their bedroom door closed. She threw the covers off her and climbed out of bed, quietly she opened her door tip toeing down the hall to the spare bedroom. She opened the door, softly closing it behind her. Abel scooted over as she climbed into the bed curling up next to him, she fell asleep.
“Did you get scared last night kids?” Meridah asked the following morning as they ate breakfast. Rose had intended to go back to her own room, before her mother had come to wake her, but she had woken earlier than normal. “I didn’t want him to be alone, mama.” She replied softly. “That was very sweet of you dear.” “Now after we eat there are some visitors coming to meet Abel. I’ll find some clean clothes for him and take him down to your father’s office.” “I’ll come too.” “Honey, that won’t be necessary. Why don’t you stay up here with your brother?” “NO!!! I want to come too,” she wailed. “Very well, after breakfast we will get both of you cleaned up and ready to welcome our visitors then.” After eating Rose ran to her room to quickly get dressed. Once dressed she waited in the sitting area by the elevator for her mother and Abel. The clock struck Noon when they stepped into the elevator to go down to the first floor. Her and Abel followed her mother into her father’s office. Waiting in the office was her Uncle David, Uncle Billy and three hooded figures. Rose grabbed Abel’s hand, although she had never seen them before she knew the hooded figures were the Elders. They made her extremely nervous. She didn’t understand why on earth they were here for Abel. At first the Elders just asked him questions, they spoke to him the same way she did. Then they looked him over, constantly saying things like how peculiar and interesting. Then one of the figures motioned for everyone but my father to leave.
“Are they going to take you away?” Rose asked worry evident even in the mind link. “No, the opposite. They are going to have your dad keep me.” “How do you know?” “I could sense it in their behavior.” It wasn’t long before Meridah came into the sitting room smiling. She sat in one of their chairs, motioning for Abel and Rose to join her. They sat on the couch directly across from her. “What is it Mama?” “Soon we will be going down to the meeting hall. Your father has decided to welcome Abel into our pack. We are going to find him a family who will love him with in the pack.” She said still smiling. “But why can’t he stay with us?” Her mother’s smile faltered slightly, “It’s not that he can’t honey, but your father wants to give a couple wolves in the pack who are struggling to have their own pups an opportunity to have a pup of their own.” “I don’t want him to live somewhere else, though,” Rose sniffled. “I understand honey, I do. But even if he lives with someone else. You both will still be able to see each other every day. I promise.” “Pinky promise?” “I double pinky promise.” Meridah’s eyes clouded over. Jessica nudged Abel to stand, she knew her mom was mind linking her dad. Meridah looked at the two children, “It’s time for us to head to the meeting hall. Abel took Rose’s hand as they followed Meridah. Rose could feel the eyes on them the moment they entered the room. They walked to the front where her father stood awaiting them. Her mother stepped to the left, taking her place. Rose was about to join her mother. “Don’t.” “But I’m supposed to, Abel.” “Don’t leave me.” Not knowing if she would get in trouble or not. Rose stayed by Abel holding his hand. “Okay.”
After the Ceremony of Abel becoming a member of the pack. Meridah took the children back upstairs to eat dinner and prepare for bed. For the next week Abel stayed in the guest room while preparations for his new family were made. Every night after her parents went to bed Rose would sneak to the guest room, curling up next to Abel. On the day Abel was to leave for his new home, they sat in the sitting area. Tears threatened to spill from her eyes. “Why are you crying?” “I don’t want you to leave.” “This is the way it is supposed to be.”
Over the next couple months Rose would stay over at Abel’s, or he would stay with her house. The final day of before the pair’s first day of school they sat in the courtyard playing. Jessica’s mother watched on from the bench with her friends. “The men in cloaks are coming,” Abel spoke to Rose. Rose looked up to see the Elder’s entering the courtyard entrance. Meridah, Lilly, and Diane stood at once slightly bowing to the five men as they passed. “They are here for us.” Rose looked at him in confusion, “What do you mean?”. “You’ll see.” Just as Rose was about to question him on what he meant her mother called for the two children. “Rose, Abel the Alpha and Elders would like to speak with us.” Abel gave her a I told you so look, as the two children stood and headed towards the pack house.
In the pack house Alpha Daniel and Elders discussed Rose and Abel, as they waited for the two children to be brought in by Meridah. “I don’t understand. You want to erase this summer from Abel and Rose’s memory and replace it with a false memory of where they came from?” “Daniel, I know it’s a lot to take in, but we have monitored Rose from the day she was born. You know our belief that she is the Lycan Queen rebirthed as told in prophecy. We have also monitored Abel since his arrival on your territory. We know that the boy is only half Lycan, but whatever is the other half is dormant. We are not positive it may wake tomorrow, ten years from now, or never. What we are positive of is they are mates. We simply wish to muddle their bond until they reach of age.” “I have never been a wolf to question the Goddess or the Elders. Forgive me for what I am about to say, but do you hear what you are suggesting. My daughter a reincarnated She-Lycan. An orphan found in the woods a half-Lycan, half-something else. I’m sorry but it makes no sense. Then to call them mates, when a wolf is completely unaware of its mate until it comes into age.” Before the conversation could continue any further, the six men were interrupted by a knock at the door.
Meridah and the two children entered the office. “Meridah, please take Rose and wait in the hall while we speak to Abel for a moment.” “As the Elders wish,” she replied taking Rose by the hand and leading her into the hall to wait. “What are they saying?” Rose asked Abel through the link the two children shared. “Nothing really, it is their thoughts that are loud.” “Then what are their thoughts?” “They are going to change our memories, not just ours but the entire packs. They are going to change the memory of my parents. They will believe that I am their real son. We won’t remember meeting. We won’t get our memories back, until we discover our true purposes.” “Why are they doing this?” “They want to prepare for what is to come. They want to hide our identities, until it is time.” “What of our identities.” “I can’t tell you, but one day it will all make sense. They are about to give me the potion. Once I drink it, we won’t be able to talk anymore.” “Abel, I don’t like this.” Abel does not respond. “Abel?” Silence engulfed Rose, she could not feel him anymore. Fighting back tears, Rose allowed her mother to lead her back into her father’s office. She looked around the office for Abel, but he was gone. The Elder’s spoke to her, but she didn’t hear them. She was replaying what Abel had told her in her head. When they gave her the snack and drink; She ate and drank not knowing that one of them contained the potion Abel spoke of. She tried to hold on to their memories but was engulfed with darkness.
“Come on sleepy head, it’s time to wake up.” Rose began to stir under her covers. “Come on you don’t want to be the last pup there on the first day of school, do you?” She opened her eyes slowly peering up at her mother. Slowly she crawled out of bed, allowing her mother to guide her to the bathroom to dress. They headed to the kitchen for breakfast. “Mommy, I dreamt of a boy last night.” “A boy you know?” her mother asked. “No, I don’t think so.” “Well, I am sure you fell asleep nervous about school last night.” After breakfast her mother proceeded to walk them to school. Walking up to the schoolhouse Rose saw a boy who looked exactly like the boy in her dreams. Tugging at her mother’s sleeve, “Mommy, look it’s the boy from my dreams.” Her mother looked in the direction she was pointing. “Honey, I’m sure it just a coincidence.” She was almost positive it was not a coincidence, but she did not argue with her mother. She walked into the schoolhouse, down the hall, and into her class. She did not see the boy again that day, or the next ether. Soon the boy from her dream was lost from the five-year-old pup’s mind.
{Fate is a funny thing. No matter what we do or the actions we take Fate always finds a way.}
(Rose completed her first year of Pup School. Followed by her Second and Third. On her fourth year of school, she sat in class it was five minutes until the tardy bell of the first day of school. She was watching the clock above the door tick when a boy who she felt like she knew walked in. She watched as he walked in looking at the desk for his name. He stopped at the desk in front of her and took a seat. She did not understand why, but it felt as if her heart was stuck in her throat. The boy turned to look at her, “Hi I’m Abel.” She felt her cheeks heat up, “I’m Roselin, but you can call me Rose.” He went to say something else, but the tardy bell rang. Class began, and Rose had to force herself to focus. Right before lunch Abel handed her a note.
Want to sit together at lunch?
YES OR NO
She felt her cheeks heat up again as she circled yes and handed the note back to him. Although, they did not remember each other. The two felt drawn to each other. Once again, a friendship was born.)
