Chapter 3: Rescued by A stranger

My mind was a blank, I tried hard to remember but I couldn’t and that was frustrating me. I wondered what had happened for the goons to leave me by the road side, ‘did they think I died when I lost consciousness and they left me to rot?’ I raised my head to ask, “when and where did you say you found me and where exactly am I? What side of Cramsville are we?” I went on again asking multiple questions at a go like I was one of those endless 80s cassette tape. Josh smiled again with that look as if he was saying ‘here we go again with more questions’ and that’s exactly what he said thereafter. “Well, well! There we go with my teacher at it again, giving me multiple questions at a go,” he mocked. “And how do you know I’m a teacher? Wait, do you personally know me?” I bellowed. He sighed and his lips curled into a smirk. “You are? I guess I’m a pro at analyzing personalities then!” he shrugged as he raised an eyebrow. Joshua’s POV I smirked looking at her as she raked her mind trying to recall. I guess if she truly knew who I was and that I purposely wiped off her memory of the last incidence then she would freak out. Anyway, I intended to help her get back to her family. “Well miss Aimee, I found you not too far away from my farm, which is in the outskirts east of Cramsville city just near the Abon hills. You had passed out just near the gravel road to my farm. I thought you were dead but I felt your pulse and brought you here to help you regain your consciousness.” I explained without even batting an eye. I could tell that she trusted every word I said and she had no reason to doubt me. ‘Or am I too quick to trust and making myself vulnerable? I could hear her thoughts questioning her trust towards me. Yes of course I can hear and read thoughts in case you are wondering . I guess you will find out later. Her eyes trailed around the exquisite room we were in. She went quiet and she appeared to be in deep thought. ‘This is a farm? With such a room looking like a 5 star hotel? This guy’s got to be either filthy rich or he is into some shady stuff. But come to think of it, I don’t remember walking along or seeing any gravel road, it was just the bush and some animal trails. How come I ran so far away from the city? The Abon hills are like 40km away from the edge of the city. This guy is creeping me out. What if he is a psycho who lures people and chops them up or even eats them’ “No ma’am, I’m not a psycho or a creep. I don’t chop people up nor do I eat them” I answered her inner thoughts out loud and she jumped up exclaiming so loudly. “Holy cow! What? Did you just hear my thoughts and answered them or did I say them out loud?” she asked me looking embarrassed that she might have spoken her thoughts out loud making her look like a lunatic of some sort. I ignored her question and let her rack her head with her thoughts. I stood up and went into the kitchen. Within 15 minutes I came back with a tray with some breakfast, the typical English breakfast with a cup of coffee. I placed it on the bedside table and stood there but Aimee was like in a trance. Totally oblivious to me standing there. I called her name and showed her the tray of food. I have seen and helped many people in life but her case was totally different. It involved a large entity that even the cops could not decipher. There is more to her story than meets the eye. I figured if I helped her go back home, her life would be more in danger, or even probably her family. I guess I’m going to have to whip up my magic and help her fight back. To avenge her sister and rescue her nephews. This means I’m going to have to do my detective job and dig more and find leads about these “goons” as she calls them. I also will have to train her well so that she herself will take the lead and do the avenging, but first, she needed to recuperate. As I was deep in thought while munching on my bread, she entered the kitchen with a tray and she was kind of limping. I knew running did a number on her muscles. I took back my idea of letting her recuperate first. Running is part of exercising, and if the process of gym is cut short, muscles become worse. That would mean that it will be hard to get her to work out and be in a position to Start training if I waited for her to recuperate first. I cleared my throat waiting to gain her attention. “Uhm! Aimee, I think your life might be much more in danger than you think. And perhaps your family’s if the “goons” learn that you are still alive. You can take your time and recuperate here and I’ll drop you thereafter, or I could drop you off right now, it’s your choice” I said looking her straight in the eye. I didn’t want to lay out my plan to her because she might think I have something to gain out of this. I wanted her to be the one to make a choice or ask for it herself. But first, she needed to see me working out, in order for her to come to that decision. And first I needed to fuel her anger somehow. People are mostly driven by anger, hatred and resentment for them to avenge their loved ones. Therefore, Aimee needed to know who exactly is responsible for her family’s misfortune. I knew already, because I read one of the goons’ thoughts before he died. But first of all I needed to verify my findings with evidence at hand for her to believe anything I will tell her. “I think you need to rest and make a plan about how to get back home and contact the authorities. I’ll be right back. I have some business to take care of in the city.” I told Aimee as I was about to leave her alone. It was a Sunday, I couldn’t tell her I was going to work. She shook her head in the affirmative and pulled up her fleece up to her chin as she laid down on bed. I knew exactly where to go and where to be to get the information I needed. The house was guarded but not so much. It was a piece of cake for me to set my equipment right under their noses without even a single one of them seeing me. I was as discreet as I possibly could. I had my suspicions about where the kids were and with who. This was his secret place. Nobody would ever thought it was his. He had staged the whole thing in a manner that not a single soul would suspect him. Either of k********g the kids or of being the drug lord. This guy was so cunning. Wearing my invisibility cloak, I walked right into their yard without them noticing me. I set up my video stand, and put my camera on and began to capture their deception without them noticing a thing.
