 Luke grinned at Lizzie and told her, “I just wanted to stop by to see how you were doing. You mentioned you were tired in French class today.”  “I’m doing much better now that you’re here,” Lizzie said, flirting with him.   Elle looked at her friend, then at Luke.   Shaking her head, she said, “Lizzie, we’d better get going or else we’re going to miss the bus.”  Lizzie glared at her friend.   Then she turned back to Luke and thrust her lower lip out, saying, “I’d better get going, or else I’m going to miss the bus.”  Luke smiled at her, then reached up to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear.  “I’d hate to be the cause of your having to walk home,” he told her. “You’d better get going.”  She nodded and turned to leave, with Elle following her.
