She found him, again

1010 Words
Silvia hesitated outside the library door, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew what she had to do – find Henrik and seduce him as Gerald had commanded – but the thought of manipulating someone made her stomach churn. Taking a deep breath, Silvia pushed open the door and stepped into the dimly lit library. Henrik was seated at a large oak table, poring over a stack of ancient-looking tomes. He glanced up as she entered, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Silvia," he greeted her warmly, gesturing for her to join him. Silvia forced a smile of her own and crossed the room to take a seat across from him. "Hello, Henrik. Ihope I'm not disturbing you." Henrik shook his head, setting aside the book he had been studying. "Not at all. In fact, I could use a bit of a break," he admitted, rubbing his tired eyes. Silvia nodded, feeling a pang of guilt at the thought of adding to Henrik's burdens. But Gerald's threats echoed in her mind, driving her to carry out her mission despite her reservations. "I wanted to borrow some books. I have nothing to do in the palace." Silvia looked around seeing how the library was bigger than she expected. She always had a hunger for knowledge or may be because these books helped her to escape the reality. She could find a loving mother and a family inside. Sometimes it could be a prince who was going to take away from the palace to a place where she would love happily. Henrik smiled gratefully, his eyes lighting up with genuine warmth. "I see. Gerald is busy in ....things.... He is always busy. I thought he would be happy after finding such a pretty wife but ....dang.... he is the still the same fun killer." He chuckled and Silvia glanced at him not knowing how to answer this question. "It's not....like that. He.....we.... He is just busy." Silvia bit her lower lip unable to say what she wanted to. That man did not want to look in her direction, sparing some time would be too much. "By the way, what are you doing here? I can help you if you need anything." Silvia offered him her help who nodded. "War strategy." Silvia's heart skipped a beat as she realized an opportunity presented itself. War strategy was something she knew well, thanks to her clandestine studies in the castle's archives. Perhaps she could use her knowledge to impress Henrik and gain his trust. "I might be able to help with that," She said, her tone casual as she leaned in closer to examine the texts. "I've always had an interest in military history." Henrik looked intrigued, his eyes lighting up with curiosity. "Is that so? I must admit, I'm impressed. Not many people share my enthusiasm for such matters." Silvia smiled inwardly, her confidence growing as she delved into the intricacies of the ancient texts. She spoke with authority, drawing on her vast knowledge to decode the cryptic passages and offer insights into the strategic thinking of past generals. As they talked, Silvia felt a connection forming between them, a shared passion for knowledge and a mutual respect for each other's intellect. Despite the ulterior motives that drove her, she found herself enjoying their conversation, relishing the opportunity to engage with someone who saw her as an equal. "It's hard to believe a woman can be this good in war strategy." Henrik added as he picked the books to put those back on the shelf while Silvia pouted. "I am offended." Henrik chuckled as he was enjoying her company. Having a conversation with her was different than with others. It was comforting in a way which he could not put his finger on. "I apologize. There are not very women here who are interested in war strategies." He completely ignored the fact that the only women here were the mates of others. They were only housewives and nothing more. "May be you need to look closely." She got up and both of them walked out of the Library walking side by side. "You are quite interesting." Henrik chuckled and Silvia smiled softly. "I will take my leave now." "Let's meet in the library tomorrow." Henrik told her and then left before hearing her answer. Silvia saw him disappearing and disappearing. Now comparing the twins, she wished she was married to Henrik instead of Gerald. In this way, she might has ended up getting a better life. "Why am I so unlucky? My mother left me and my father sold me. My husband wants me to seduce his brother so he could secure his throne. And him ..... he is so good but....." Looking at the dark sky, Silvia realized she was late and hurried back to her room, her mind still reeling from her conversation with Henrik in the library. As she entered, she found Gerald standing by the window, his back turned to her. His shirt was discarded on the floor, revealing a tattoo of a rose with blood dripping from it's petals. On the tan muscular back, the tattoo was clearly visible making her find every single detail. She felt strange looking at it. It appeared as if she saw it before somewhere. It felt familiar but her memory was hazy. Feeling her presence, Gerald turned towards her. And it hit Silvia where she saw the tattoo before. She could not recognize him before because he looked completely different. Back then, he was a young boy with a cold expression but his face was unharmed. She could not remember how many years it were when she met him before. 6 years. "Where were you?" Gerald questioned her as he picked the clean shirt and wore it unaware what was going on in her mind. "It's.... it's you .." A whisper escaped from Silvia's mouth as she stared at the man in front of her. She solved the biggest mystery of her life. She found him, again. ......
