Derek’s POV...... The shock on My face I’m sure was almost comical as I spotted my ex, made way straight to where I was sitting, my heat and heart ringing like an alarm as he crept closer, walking towards me like he owned the place and had a mission to fulfill, Sitting down opposite me, he then stared at the glass window directly beside us which faces the lake, “Amazing sight isn’t it?, I was told I would find you here” he continued Facing me completely, but I just gawked stupidly I’m sure. How dare he, how dare he play with my heart and then sit there like nothing had happened ?and he didn’t just vanish for the past two years!? I gawked wearily at him, not being able say much “Jamie..” I called , I’m sure he noticed my struggle “I missed you D, did you miss me?” he asked with an expectant glint in his eyes, like he was teasing and testing me “f**k this” , I uttered taking my backpack and left the cafe not even waiting for my remaining order “Derek!” I heard him call Why now, why here, is he just making fun of me toying with me for being so hooked onto him for so long? I heard footsteps gaining on me as I felt a grip, his smaller hands and all the more smaller frame looking up at me as he breathed heavily “God, you were always a fast walker” he complimented leaving me in total silence as I just gawked at him again “What do you want from me?”I blurted already tired from his antics “Can we talk?” He asked pointing back to the cafe “No,” I lied , “my girlfriend is waiting for me and I really have to go” I didn’t know why I had to mention that but I had to at least have an edge on him “Don’t you want to see me or ask me where I have been ?we can share stories like old times,”he suggested, his ever addicting smile, haunting me “Old times?” I scoffed seeing his smiling demeanor fade, “you left without a word and here you are years later, just conversing like nothing happened? Enough of this Jamie, I’m out of here!” I exclaimed not wanting to be there anymore because I know I would get more emotional, and the last thing I want for him is to see me cry, he’d know I was miserable, I quickly picked up my pace leaving him on the cafe street as I bolted to my apartment, This was not I wanted, I thought I had had the strength to face him and asked him all the pondering questions but it was only easy as it sounds, . I reached my apartment, my breath as fast as my heart beat, God I can't believe I just met him, after all this time, he still looked as perfect as he was all those years ago- “-don’t think about that Derek, he broke your heart”I chanted to my self, I needed to get it of here soon, I needed an escape, I needed to go home. *** The journey back to Ohio was quiet and short since I took a plane, I busied myself with Marvel movies to keep my mind away from who must not be named, I know it was petty of me, but that was how I would cope, it was the time for thanks giving, so happy thoughts Derek, happy thoughts I didn't tell my mom I was coming home wanting to surprise her, and not wanting her to worry about me. My home looked exactly how I left it, the blue roof from my child hood, bringing familiar roots, since it was only us on the streets that had the peculiar roof colour “Mom?” I uttered using my, house key to open the door, I could smell the scent of baked goods already bringing my taste buds alive as I made my way in, dropping my bags at the door I heard eager footsteps rounding the corner, to see my mom bustling in, as soon as she realized it was me, her face changed to a surprised them happy look as she made her way to me “Baby!” She called hugging me earnestly, u returned back with much enthusiasm, “Hi mom, told you stop calling me that a 100 times” I mumbled into her small frame “Oh don't bother baby, you know, I won't, I missed you” she let out, caressing my face tenderly “Oh?!” She exclaimed, immediately running back to the kitchen incase she left the turkey on the stovetop “Happy Thanksgiving mom,” I uttered laughing from the hallway, “You too baby” I heard her say before I reached upstairs to my bedroom “It was still the same, color , the twin bed and all with the tacky superhero wallpaper on the walls, this was home, even if I made it on last call to Ohio, I then informed cole and luca who were already In town a few days ago that I was coming for the evening dinner at luca’s place the ride there was quiet and usual, I just thanked God that my mom hadn't thought of calling jasmine yet, even if I missed her I needed space I had told her about my ex prior to three months in our relationship his name and all, but never his pictures, I won't know how she would react if I told her, I met him again. We reached the familiar redroof of the estate, luca lived parking into the specified space for us, before I saw him run out of the house with a Crazy look on his face, that had nothing but mischief written over it, as soon as he heard me, he jumped on my back, taking me into a playful choke hold, “I thought you won't make it dweeb!”, he called playfully ruffling my head, The dinner went well , we laughed about different topics , didn’t matter, as long as it took my mind off things, “Hey are you ok?” Luca asked, if he noticed then, the laughs were not enough to take my mind off it Our parent already left to the kitchen to clean up leaving me with Luca and Cole, “No I’m not ok, which one of you told Jamie where to find me?,” I blurted out unknowingly “I didn’t for sure” Cole said immediately, leaving Luca who looked caught in headlights . “Dude I swear i didn’t do it, ok I didn’t mean to, we talked a bit that day and I may have slipped out where you were, I mean what’s the big deal?” “Dude,” Cole said trying to shut Luca up “I mean he’s over him isn’t he? Aren’t you?” He asked again facing me “Thank for being a solid friend” I uttered sarcastically “I’m done with this bull s**t I called, not wanting to here anymore,” “Derek!” I heard my friend Cole call but didn’t answer, I went out of the house of the house, my legs instinctively turning to the streets of Jamie’s gate, why am I even here? I asked This was bull s**t, after that encounter with him at the cafe a week ago, I had avoided him like a plague, no knowing how to express myself , I could see the familiar lights of his house turned on, and his room, wait... his room?! “Derek?” I head a soft familiar voice call, only for me to see the face I had been avoiding, his breathtaking eyes staring at me, Jamie. I knew I shouldn’t have come here, I was in trouble.
