Chapter 3

"Don't open your eyes, yet. Don't!" I muttered very silently while panting. Same dream. That morning three months ago became my dream-nightmare. I always go back to the morning when I found myself naked and tangled with a naked man. My head was pounding and the situation I witnessed with my very own eyes is not helping. I think, I was about to collapse but I can't. I must get out from stranger's den before he wakes up. My legs were hardly tangled with his hairy legs. Oh my god! I'm doing it very carefully, scared that I will wake him up. The room was dark that I can't see his face and it is very far of my concern. He shifted that makes me still. My heart beats faster making my head to pound more. I don't know what to do if he ever wakes up. Good thing, he was a heavy sleeper. I finally untangled myself, free from him and gathered all my things as fast as I can. I made sure that I didn't leave any traces of me that he can recognize later. I found my red dress folded neatly on the chair. On the top of it were my undergarments. Reaching for it made me blush of embarrassment, I was so careless, very careless that I wanted to punish myself. I found my sling bag too and checked its contents, most important is my phone. I never turn my head to even look at his face. He better stayed as stranger and with that, I get out of his room. * * * "Good morning, Ms. Stella." Carrie greeted but in a chirp that did not help my mood. "Hi, Carrie." My blank replied and manage to smile that did not really reach my eyes. Carrie is energetic and blooming today to be infected by my bad vibe, so I tried my best to keep it to myself. It is not my attitude to lash out when I feel despicable in the inside. "Your father was so pleased that you met Mr. Morgan yesterday." She said but I'm not really interested to do an early talk. "Carrie." I don't have the heart to dismiss the bubbly woman. "Ms. Stella, I almost forgot." Her eyes twinkled at that, ready to drop the news. "What?" No meeting please with another Jacob. "CNN choose our company for an interview!" "Wow, that's good to hear Carrie!" My mood enlightened a bit. "For company's branding and marketing!" She cheered and I couldn't agree more. It is indeed good news enough to flip my mood from bad to good. "Who will do the interview with them?" I asked smiling, I was feeling proud now. Our efforts these past few months was paid off and be on CNN is worth celebrating. Not all company can get the chance to be broadcasted. I was already searching for someone in my head who will do the interview. "You." Carrie's reply gob smacked me. I can't let my face show to any news or media. I must avoid it all cost especially it is the CNN. "Ms. Stella, your father is the one who chose you for the interview." Carrie did not ask but she was informing me. "When is the interview, Carrie?" "Next Monday." "Then, find a substitute for me. You have time to prepare. I'm not really interested in that activity." I said with finality. "But Ms. Stella it was your father who appointed you for the interview." "Appointed or not, chosen or not. I have the right to refuse, Carrie." I did not know if I was a brat telling her that, but I have the right to refuse. I know many will volunteer to be on TV once the position is open. "Alright, I'll tell your father about this." Carrie said sadly. "Carrie, why don't you do it? The interview, why don't you do it?" I said teasing her. Carrie's expression was priceless. "See, your reaction was the same with mine. The thought of facing the media is scaring me. I don't like the idea of my face flashing on the television, anytime and anywhere." I said half of my true reason. "Don't worry, Ms. Stella I will help finding a good replacement." Carrie smiled and left my room. I was left alone doing my task, then the wedding invitation caught my eyes. I haven't had the chance to look at it yesterday. There was a light knocked on my office door and soon it was wide opened. Someone who visits my office, like every day when he is in the country. "Hi, there beautiful!" His eyes twinkled seeing me. "Theo!" Theo the annoying. "When did you arrive?" I asked matching his excitement. Theo might be annoying, but he is a good friend of mine. "Just this morning and went straight to see my princess." He said boastfully. "Do you know the word 'rest', dear?" "I don't need that, it's you that I need. Wait, did you just call me 'dear'?" His eyes went big realizing the word. "Hmm..." I smiled. "Oh my god! Finally, the time came that you will notice me and my feelings!" He jumped like a kid. "Stop it, Theo! Feeling my butt." I said while sticking my tongue out to him. "You just don't mess with someone who has jetlagged, yet he chose to see you!" He said seriously and walked towards my table. "What are you doing?" I asked. He was looking at me with serious expression, but his mouth was quivering like he was playing with me now. "Theo, I don't like your game whatever it is." "It isn't a game." As he already neared me and cupped my cheeks. "This." He planted a kiss on my right cheek then on the left. I couldn’t move because I was surprised by his actions. "I bet; you ask some more." He said playfully and I realized what he was intended to do next. I punched his mouth before he can kiss me on the lips. - - -
