Chapter 2

Present I am staring at the beautiful woman before me and irritation was rocking my system. "Are you kidding me, Scylla?" I asked showing my irritation towards her, but the angel just smiled at me. "Please, Stella." She pleaded sincerely. "I told you, I cannot. Why would someone like me be your bridesmaid? You are unbelievable!" I huffed on my seat in annoyance. "Why not? You are the person close to Zach and my friend now." She stated with pure smile. "Did you forget that I'm not just close with Zach but..." I did not dare to continue my word. "What will people say about me?" I said with worry. Scylla looked at me like she will leave this building with a yes from me. "Stella, I am in this situation because I took your advice, I fight my love for him. And of all people, I want you to be present in our wedding. Don't get me wrong but I heard you and Zach talking the other day. You said, you are happy because finally, he found me and that you realized your love for him is like a brotherly one." I gasped knowing she knew about it. I don't know if I should be embarrassed or not. "Please, Stella. I would be more than happy if you could attend." Scylla grabbed my hand gently as she slid the invitation letter of their wedding. The Union of Zach and Scylla This is real and I eyed the letter and it was surprising that I didn't feel the pain anymore. I'm chasing Zach for years like a mad woman in love, yet I easily surrendered him to the beautiful woman in front of me. "Fine." To give the woman what she wants. It was a simple word, but it lightened up her face. "Oh, dear! You just don't know how happy I am! And don't worry your dress is already ready!" She said excitedly. "You're excited, eh?" I was amused. I was right, all were ready and my approval to be her bridesmaid is the only lacking. "Of course, dear Stella because that will be this Friday!" "Already?" From amused to surprise. I didn't know that it was too fast. "Yes, and I can't wait to spend my life with Zach." Scylla said dreamily. Again, it was not awkward saying those things to me. I was even feeling okay. "Congratulations for that." I said. "Stella, I'm sorry." There she is again. "Scylla, I thought we are already okay? Quit apologizing." I looked at her with all my sincerity. "I don't know but my tongue just said them automatically. I just can't believe that you are this forgiving, you let him go for me. You sacrificed." "Because it's simple, I'm not really in love with Zach. I was in love of the idea that I'm in loved because he was a challenged to me." I chuckled. "Can we stop talking about the past? It really makes me cringed. I can't believe how silly I was before!" I said feeling the embarrassment to sink in. "Alright. Thank you for accepting as my bridesmaid, Stella. I need to go; Zach is looking for me." She said as she ready herself. "See you then at your wedding." I flashed a smile and we hugged. I was left staring at the invitation letter and my phone rings. "Carrie." I said as my other hand playing the invitation letter to open. "Ms. Stella, you have meeting at one o'clock with Jacob..." My heart stops at that. The name I heard three months ago, the only name I remembered. My heart beats frantically. "Carrie, I told you not to meet any man with Jacob as his name." I said sternly. "Ms. Stella, this is too much. Your father is already curious...." "Do, as I say, Carrie." "Ms. Stella, this Jacob is a senior." Carrie manage to say it and the more I cringed of the thought. I was drunk that night, thinking it was Zach but how about if it was really an old man and I was just tricked with my own eyes? "Carrie, you seem to know something." I stated. "Ms. Stella, I'm just drawing conclusion that you are avoiding all Jacob because..." "Fine, I'll meet that Jacob senior." I said not wanting my dad to discover if he is already curious as Carrie stated. * * * "Are you fine, young lady? You kept on glancing at me." The old man was chuckling while stating those words because I was looking at him like I was checking him out. I was just looking for any hint from him that night. I sighed in relief when I found none, he was not the one. Thanks God! "I'm actually looking for your father, but he is out in the country." The man spoke when he sensed that I'm already comfortable. "Oh, he is Mr. Morgan. Good thing, you still meet me on his behalf." I offered a kind smile to the man who I almost refused to meet earlier. "Of course, why not? Daughter or son is as good as their father. In fact, this is a good practice for you." He stated and I already find him likable. He is not like some businessman I met before, self-entitled because they are filthy rich and very rude. "Thank you, Mr. Morgan. You and my father are quite alike." I said honestly and the man chuckled at that. "I like that of you, Stella. I'm hoping you can meet my son." He said that makes my heart leap. "Oh, you have a son?" I asked trying to make it sound interested, but not really. Businessmen sons could be rude. No, thanks. "Thank you." He said as the waiter arrived with a bottle of wine. "This is my favorite wine, Stella. Let's have a toast." "I..." How can I say that I'm not drinking any wine? All alcoholic liquid in general. The last time I resorted to it, it was one in a hell mess when I wake up the next morning. "Any wrong?" Mr. Morgan inquired almost worriedly. "I'm allergic to wine." I resorted to that excuse. Really? He then laughed again, I concluded he was a happy type of person. "That's hilarious allergy. Good thing, you are a woman and that is very much okay." He said. I then chuckled in response but faking it because I can't laugh at my lie. "But you know, Stella? In your age, drinking and wasted at once is once a hell of experience that you can tell your kids when you're old." Mr. Morgan said which made me stiffened. He doesn't need to say it because I know it very well from my own experienced. - - -
