Chapter7. Emilia

“ so mommy are we really moving?” I nodded my head as I watched this woman that I don’t know who’s name I only remember as Dianne continues to pack up my stuff.

“ yeah we are sweetie, only for a short while. This house needs to be repaired so we are going to stay over at mateo’s house until it’s done.” My six year old nodded her head and smiled.

“ ok and do I get a room for myself over there?” I nodded my head as I continued to pack.

“ yeah of course sweetie, only the best for you.” She squealed and ran out which had me shaking my head.

“ you know what you are getting yourself into right?” Dianne asked and I narrowed my eyes at her.

“ what do you mean?” I asked and she sighed and looked at me.

“ I have been working for Mateo for ten years now, seeing that I’m almost sixty should mean something right? But not to Mateo. Once he sets his eyes on someone he wants he’ll make sure to have that person no matter what. I can see that you’re next on his list, making you his old lady and all. Now that he has you I guarantee that he won’t ever let you go. He’s a bit possessive and controlling so I’m only warning you. Don’t worry Mateo doesn’t have any romantic feelings towards me, he only uses me as a slave for them and he promised not to let me go until he’s ready. Hes not a good person Emilia, don’t let him fool you. I’m only warning you, be careful around him and do what he ask or you’ll regret it.” With that she took up two suitcases and walked out. I sighed and sat down on the bed while thinking about what she just said. Of course I could see that Mateo can be controlling and maybe possessive as well but do I really want to be in a relationship with a person like that? I’m not sure.

I just can’t stop the feelings I have when I’m around him. We f****d for crying out loud in more ways than one, I just don’t know if I’m doing the right thing here. I got up and looked around my room for the last time for now, then grabbed my other suitcases and made my way downstairs.

“ ready to go lia?” Kat asked and I glared at her.

“ yeah I’m ready and don’t talk to me. I can’t believe you ratted me out to your brother.” I hissed and she held her hands up in surrender.

“ hey you are my best friend, I will do anything for you including this. Mateo is right you know. We won’t be able to protect ourselves and he can protect us so why not? You have to remember you have your daughter to think about and right now we have to put her needs before ours.” She’s right of course but I didn’t let her know that.

“ and when I’m there where do you think I’ll sleep?” I asked and she looked down and bit her lips.

“ exactly.” I replied as I made my way outside. Lacey was walking beside me chatting away excitedly which I had to zone out because I had a lot of things to think of. I walked up to the compound and three of mateo’s men came walking towards us.

“ we’re here to help you with your stuff. We were given orders to take you to the boss’s room.” I nodded my head and handed them my suitcases.

“ this is it?” I asked as my eyes became wide. This was a different room from where I woke up in yesterday.

“ yes boss requested a room change, this entire section will be for you and your daughter as well as Kat. No one is allowed here apart from you guys.” I nodded my head and thanked him.

“ May I have your name?” I asked and he smiled at me.

“ it’s Jacob mam, I’m new here a prospect at that. That’s Sam and Austin.” I nodded my head and smiled at them to which they returned.

“ your daughter’s room will be next door and Kat’s room will be two doors down.” After they set my things down, I followed them towards the room that will be my daughter’s. Inside was just as huge as mateo’s room and the furnitures looked expensive.

“ mom I love it here!” Lacey shouted and I laughed at the way she was running around.

“ I’m glad you like it baby, now remember if you need anything I’m right next to you.” She nodded her head and beamed at me. I gave her a hug and laughed.

“ Dianne will be here shortly to help unpack her stuff, we’ll be leaving now.” I looked at them and nodded my head.

“ sure thing, where’s Mateo?” I asked and Jacob looked at the others before replying.

“ he’s on a run mam, will be home soon just go ahead and make yourself at home.” He walked out with the others and I sighed as I continued to look around the room with Lacey and decided to unpack her things by myself since that’s my job.

“ so is Mateo your boyfriend and is that why we really moved in with him? Because mom you should remember that you are still married and you have dad to think of. Even though I don’t mind Mateo being with you because I’m already calling him dad.” I choked when she said that and narrowed my eyes at her.

“ you know you are too smart for your age and no Mateo is not my boyfriend and I should have told you earlier but your dad and I got a divorce that’s why I moved here with Kat. He’s not mine anymore.” I lied and She frowned while looking at me.

“ did he do something bad?” She asked and I stopped what I was doing so I could focus on her.

“ let’s put it like that. If you ever see him again I want you to run Lacey you hear me? Don’t talk to him and don’t let him take you anywhere. He’s a bad man and he can hurt you. Promise me that you’d tell me if you see him or if he tries to take you from me.” I said and she promised me not to go anywhere with him. Lacey is smart and getting older so maybe I shouldn’t keep things from her anymore. The only way to protect her is through Mateo and I just had to swallow whatever pride I have and let him take care of us whether I like it or not.
