Rico and Christa had just left Glath, but not before listening to Jake and Erica’s discovery of the inlathons. It was meant to be a secret between Amelia, Victor, Clover, Glenn, Rico, and Christa. The attack of the Glathonian race was known by all the royals and their personal assistants, but they weren’t aware of the inlathons, like the royal members of the Furlorns, their assistants, the third prince of Cirano, the Blars’s Guild master and the prince of Hellever.
This secret has been kept for the past two hundred years. The late king of Glath, Christopher Furlorn, the first king of Glath, the ancestor of Clover and Christa Furlorn and Daniel Furlorn, first discovered the inlathons, during a cave exploration with Ronald Timberline the first, the first king of Hellever, the ancestor of Rico Timberline, when he was still a prince.
The two royals had gone through a secret tunnel, hidden under both palaces. They both brought their weapons, due to the pestering of their advisors. If there was a chance, they were going to be attacked by a rogue or assassin, along the way. Most of the tunnels hadn’t been explored, so they only followed the tunnels on the handmade map. The two had taken notice of a tunnel which showed thousands of scarlet gems. It was rare, because the only colors of gems found in the tunnels were either hazel, violet or gray.
The gems are made from the colliding and clustering of liume from the atmosphere, but due to their formation in underground caves, the idea of the low level of liume in the ground, forcing the liume around the caves, to merge together in a physical form, to create more opportunities for the external liume to increase and not relying on creatures for internal liume, since it was rare to find species underground.
Christopher didn’t have an issue with exploring different tunnels, whether they were seen or not. It always managed to bring a smile to his face. Ronald, on the other hand, wasn’t as ecstatic as his friend. He always managed to prevent his friend from unexpected life-threatening events.
‘With all the accidents and murder attempts he has gone through, you would think he would be more cautious,’ Ronald had wondered about Christopher, who was whistling as they approached the cave. Sometimes Ronald wondered if his friend had a bit of a problem due to situations like this.
‘This is my last chance to convince him,’ He mustered all the courage in this dire situation.
“Chris, it looks suspicious, it would be better if we didn’t go through that tunnel,” Ronald voiced out his thoughts to his friend, who was startled by Ronald's words.
“But we don’t know what treasures and mysteries that may be hidden there.”
“We don’t know, that’s my concern.”
“Stop being paranoid,” Christopher gave a shoulder tap to his friend, who was overthinking about everything, like he normally did, but his instincts were haywire, so he prepared his weapons as they approached the tunnel.
Christopher and Ronald were attracted to the beautiful display of red, reflected from each gem in the tunnel. Ronald was still being cautious and keeping his distance from the suspicious rocks. As they went deeper into the tunnel, the gems were bigger than the last ones they saw from the entrance.
The red gems were starting to gleam in a particular section of the cave, following the direction of the light, with pure curiosity and a strong sense of adventure, flowing through their veins, well, mostly Christopher’s veins. Ronald was slowly starting to notice the gems, they were moving, vibrations and colliding with each other, shattering one by one.
“Chris, we should leave!” Ronald shouted at Christopher, who dragged him up to the direction of the collected scarlet gleams. There was strange black writing on the wall. His hands caressed the words on the wall, as Ronald read the words.
{This world is filled with darkness, the last chance of hope completely vanishes, dreams that don’t happen, wishes are unable to come true, since nothing ever lasts, why worry about tomorrow, when it is today, make goals instead, hold every remaining bit of hope in you, and shout it out, live your life to the fullest, cherish everything around you, but never get attached, or you will be left with a scar, it might be unseeable, yet it hurts you for the rest of your life, people say its fate, wait does fate actually exist? If it does and its meant to make one feel bad, then its just another horrible word, like destiny or even love.}
Ronald had noticed that most of the words weren’t visible or were written in another language, but the words most visible to them, were clearly written, {Beware of the inlathons}
The cave started to crumble, as all the gems broke, merging and forming eight-foot monsters. Their mouths were covered in gems, but were sharpened and irregular, their skins were practically hardened by magma, their feet were leaking lava into the ground, as it slowly broke down its layers, their heads were medium-sized, but the size of their jaws were big enough to swallow an entire person without struggle.
The creatures had tightened the Royals to a corner, making it difficult to attack head on without being left unharmed, but luck wasn’t on their side, as the creatures raised their hands in the air and struck the ground with their clawed hands, missing Christopher and Ronald by a feet, dodging with all the strength, their body could provide in a state of shock. It was safe to assume that they were stuck in a very bad situation.
The creatures continued to hit the ground with their clawed hands, the cave started to shake as their hands on the ground, the cave was starting to crumble, different sections of the cave were starting to fall down.
Fortunately, the rocks managed to fall on the monsters, allowing the two to escape, but not before crushing Ronald’s left hand as well.
“Please leave me here”, Ronald pleaded with Christopher, but he wasn’t going to leave his best friend, to suffer for his irresponsible actions.
“No, we promised to be each other's sword, meaning we will always fight our enemies together, even if we don’t share the same enemies.”
“I would be grateful if you didn’t add to more of my suffering by your talking.”
He increased his strength, by moving a particular amount of Liume in his hands, to remove the boulder, crushing Christopher’s hand. Successful in his plan, he carefully placed him on his back, and tried to lessen the pressure on Ronald’s hands.
He increased the Liume in his legs to run faster, before the entrance of the cave would be blocked and trapped inside the cave, or he could possibly get crushed by another rock, running as fast as he could with the extra weight on his back.
He had succeeded in reaching the entrance before the cave was completely crushed, carefully removing Ronald from his back, tearing his brown tinted shirt sleeve, using a stick from his ax to support and reduce movement of the fractured hand.
“Grrrrrr!!!”
The two turned around, finding out that at least three more monsters were still alive. Christopher attempted to grab his dagger from his leg, only to notice a flash and the heads of the three monsters were scattered on the ground, and in the same position was a little girl with a bloody ax in her hands.
“Who are you two? And why are you in the inlathon breeding cave?” She asked rather rudely to the surprised friends, who stumbled at the sight of the young girl in front of them.
