Maya's point of view
"Move it, human," Elijah said as he pushed me out of the way and into a locker, causing me to hit my head and fall to the ground. Those around me began to laugh as I felt drops of blood coming from my nose.
I quickly stood up and ran to the bathroom, ignoring what people were saying. I needed to stop the bleeding quickly. I didn't want my parents to know that I was being bullied every day by the soon-to-be alpha.
It was one thing to hide bruises from my parents but another to hide the blood. They could smell it, and I didn't want to have to explain this to them.
My name is Maya Grace Walker, and I am about to be fifteen in thirty days. I am the only human living in a wolf pack. How you might be asking, well, I was found abandoned in the woods by my father, Brody. I was just a couple of hours old, and when no one could find my parents, I was adopted. My family cherishes me, but some pack members like Elijah and his goons hate me.
They think I am weak, but they are wrong. From the age of five, my father has taught me to fight. He is the head warrior since the last one died in a rogue attack.
As I clean the blood off my face, the bathroom door opened, and walks in my best friend, Live.
"What happened this time?" She asked as she walked up to me. She removed the paper towel I had covering my nose, and she winced.
"Is it bad?"
"Yea, you need to go to the pack hospital."
"I can't. My parents will know." I began to feel my heartbeat race in fear. If I said anything, Elijah's behavior would get worse.
"I think it's broken."
I closed my eyes, and I could feel tears pool into my eyes. "My dad is going to be so mad."
"Yes, He is."
Liv and I have been best friends for as long as I can remember. Her mom and mine are best friends, and she one of the few kids my age that doesn't bully me. She has even stood up for me several times and got her butt kicked because of it. Even though she doesn't have her wolf yet, she heals way faster than me.
"We need to get you to the doctor now. Let me call my mom." Liv says as she pulls out her cell phone.
The blood coming from my nose isn't stopping, and I sit on the floor because I was starting to feel dizzy.
"Mom, I need you to come to the school and pick Maya and me up."
I could hear Mrs. Waterson's voice, but I couldn't make out what she was saying.
"She was pushed into a locker and hit her nose into it. I think she broke it."
I closed my eyes because I knew my parents were going to be bad and demand answers. I couldn't tell them the truth.
"Mom will be here soon. Let's get you outside."
"We have a test today in math."
"I know, and I don't mind doing a retake. You are more important."
I laughed because Liv hated math. "You didn't study."
"Caught me red-handed."
As we walked out of the bathroom, I held a wad of paper towel up to my nose. As we passed the main office, the secretary noticed us and she quickly came out of the office.
"What are you two doing?" She demanded.
I turned around and looked at her. "Oh, my goddess. Maya, what happened?"
"Ms. Star, my mom, is on the way to take her to the pack doctor," Liv said.
"Do your parents know?"
"I'm sure they do now," I said as I looked out the door and saw my dad's truck.
I've never seen my dad drive so quickly, and when he parked, he was out of the car so fast. Once he was at the door, he saw me, and his eyes turned black.
"What happened?" His wolf Alex demanded.
"We can talk about that later. She needs a doctor. That is the third set of paper towels, and now she needs another one." Live said as she looked at my dad.
"Let's go." He said as he picked me up and ran me to the truck.
He placed me in the truck, buckled me, and quickly got to the driver's side. Liv ran to the truck and hopped in and was ready to go when dad got to the driver's side. He quickly drove away from the school. He kept looking at me, but his eyes remained black.
"Alex, I am fine."
"Who did this to you?" He demanded.
"Can we talk about it later?"
I want answers when the doctor fixes you up."
"Okay," I said as I leaned back in the seat and closed my eyes.
When we got to the pack doctor, I was taken back right away because I was a human and considered more fragile.
Live waited in the waiting room while my dad and I were ushered into the back.
When the doctor came in, she looked at my nose and said it was broken and, due to the trauma, I was bleeding so much.
When she left the room, my dad looked at me. His eyes were still black, and I knew I had to give him an explanation.
"I was accidentally pushed into a locker and hit my head into a locker," I quickly said.
"Try again."
I could never get away with lying. My parents always knew.
I sighed and looked away from him. "Elijah pushed me really hard, and I fell into a locker and broke my nose."
"Why did you lie?"
"Because I didn't want him to get in trouble. I was in his way and didn't hear him when he asked me to move."
"Okay," Is all he said.
I hope he bought the half-truth because I didn't want any more trouble with Elijah.
Once the doctor thought I was okay to go home, she discharged me. We drove Liv home, and then we went home. My dad's eyes were still black, and I knew when my mom came later today from work, she could calm him down.
When we got home, I took a pain med the doctor gave me, went up to my room, and fell asleep.
